Div.. Excellent hammer. If the head starts to get sloppy on the handle : Soak the hammer head and 1 " (26cm) of the handle above the head in used antifreeze overnight. It will then fit as snug as the day you built it. Sloppy sledge, axe or other wood handled tools will also benefit from an antifreeze soaking. Best to You and Yours.👍🇿🇦

Dear Ray Bann 👍👌👏 The smiley fits your name perfectly, congrats! 😁 ;-) 2) Your advice sounds very interesting. I never heard of something like that before. Is it essential to use used antifreeze or is it only because of not wasting new liquid? Thanks in advance for answering. Best regards, luck and health in particular.

@@Chr.U.Cas2216 Well.. used antifreeze is what most gearheads have. Linseed oil is the traditional wood workers preference. Hope this helps ..Best to you and yours.

Dear Div. 👍👌👏 Well done again and as always (video and work). The hammer looks great, congrats! It's always joyful to work with self made respectively self modified tools. I absolutely love to recycle/upcycle/repair/modify things, especially old tools. For instance thicker and longer handles are very important for me, especially for any kind of garden tools and brooms! 2) It was very interesting to see how you secured the hammer head onto the handle (with two vertical cuts and two small smooth/plain steel wedges. I've never seen this before. In former times nearly all hammer handles in Germany had been secured with a horizontal cut and a very specially shaped steel wedge (with 2 or 3 set teeth). Nowadays we/I still use the horizontal cut but drive and glue in a wooden wedge. Additionally a short* piece of sharpened pipe gets driven in (* round about as long as the cut is deep). This method kind of wedges the wood fibres in every possible direction and secures the handle much better than we did it in former times. If there is any overhanging wood and/or pipe, it gets shortened after the glue has hardened out completely. 3) You definitely inspired me to build a body hammer too. I will try to find and use a hardened steel ball from a big old ball bearing on one side. Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards luck and especially health to all of you.
