One of the main causes of procrastination for me was that when it really got down to it I didn't truly want to do that "thing". Choosing your goals and paths in life correctly can get rid of a lot of resistance. If you feel like nothing is working to get you to do something maybe re-evaluate if you are truly going down the right path.

As a nurse who works in a SNF, everyone’s high level of stress and anxiety can really take a toll if you aren’t careful of someone’s emotions and energy, I’m always singing while doing med pass and my patients love it, idc if I look unprofessional, people live there and it’s a nice change of pace for a nurse to help them relax emotionally than just to shove medication down their throat

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 00:00 📚 *The author's experience of writing the book was a marathon, not pure joy, but it taught valuable lessons for future writing endeavors.* 10:52 🌟 *Positive emotions, like joy, boost productivity and creativity, according to the broaden and build theory.* 16:00 💼 *Success without enjoying the journey can be hollow; balancing life and enjoying the process is crucial.* 17:23 📝 *Writing the book involved moments of seriousness and imposter syndrome, but the author learned to apply Feelgood productivity principles to the writing process.* 18:06 🤔 *Approach work with sincerity and playfulness rather than excessive seriousness and heaviness for a more enjoyable experience.* 18:34 📝 *The process of writing a book can be challenging, especially when dealing with complex emotions and the pressure to make it special.* 20:00 🖊️ *Writing the first draft of a book is often a rough and imperfect process, and the real value comes from the editing.* 25:39 🚫 *Overcoming procrastination involves recognizing emotional blockers rather than solely relying on motivation or discipline.* 28:12 🔄 *Making productivity sustainable is crucial to prevent burnout and ensure long-term success.* 34:33 📚 *The book "Feel Good Productivity" is intended for anyone seeking to be more productive while maintaining a focus on well-being and sustainability.* 36:12 📚 *To make work feel better, even in a job you don't enjoy, consider finding "side quests" or ways to explore your curiosity within your tasks.* 41:25 🏆 *Creating personal challenges within your job, even mundane ones, can make the work more enjoyable and productive.* 43:15 🌟 *Finding joy and meaning in your work doesn't always require quitting your job; you can improve your current job's quality.* 49:17 💡 *Overcoming procrastination involves gaining clarity about what needs to be done, addressing the emotions that cause resistance, and taking action.* 53:16 🎭 *Adopting an alter ego or persona, like a "Batman" for a task, can help overcome fear and self-doubt toperform better in challenging situations.* 53:56 💡 *Lowering the bar and focusing on getting started is essential to overcome procrastination. Perfectionism and the fear of not being good enough can hinder progress.* 56:00 🌟 *Momentum is crucial in overcoming procrastination. Once you start, it becomes easier to continue.* 57:59 🧠 *The amygdala hijack is when the amygdala, our brain's threat detector, becomes overactive in social situations, leading to fear and stress responses. Recognizing this can help overcome procrastination driven by fear of judgment.* 01:00:17 🎭 *Adopting different play personalities in your work can make tasks more enjoyable and fulfilling. Playfulness can help boost productivity.* 01:10:16 🔄 *Understanding different types of burnout (overexertion, depletion, misalignment) and how to address them is essential for long-term sustainable productivity.* 01:11:10 🔄 *When feeling drained, activities like scrolling on social media rarely recharge your energy. Engaging in more creative and effortful activities, like going for a walk or reading a book, tend to be more effective in reducing burnout risk.* 01:12:08 📵 *Spending less time on social media and more time on activities that recharge your energy is a better strategy for avoiding burnout.* 01:16:05 🙅‍♂️ *Feeling guilty for taking breaks is counterproductive. It's essential to incorporate moments of relaxation and recharge during the day, even if it feels unproductive.* 01:18:51 💡 *Setting "nice goals" (Near term, Input-based, Controllable, Energizing) can be more effective, especially for beginners or those struggling with a goal. These goals focus on what you can do in the short term and are within your control.* 01:25:46 ✅ *Finding ways to make tasks enjoyable, such as adding variety and breaking them down into manageable input-based goals, can help maintain consistency and motivation. Sometimes, it's okay to have "write-off" days and actively choose rest when needed.* 01:28:16 🎉 *Inject joy into tasks you don't like to make them feel better and boost productivity.* 01:32:28 🎶 *Incorporate little moments of joy and self-soothing techniques into your daily routine for a more enjoyable life.* 01:37:08 🎵 *Add music or other enjoyable elements to mundane tasks to shift your mood and make them more enjoyable.* 01:39:12 🌟 *Choose to greet people with warmth and enthusiasm, creating a positive atmosphere that spreads joy.* 01:42:13 🥐 *Small acts of kindness, like bringing scones for colleagues, can have a significant positive impact on relationships and workplace morale.* Made with HARPA AI

Video is so good, and I agree with you completely on productivity. I was so lazy early in my life, but now I am doing dropshipping because it will always be viable since people need to buy things. If you can find good products and make your store appealing, you will be really successful. My strategy is to use some product search tools (my favorite one is using a little bit of winnerzila. It's affordable, very well suited for beginners and they give out plenty of other assets as well). If someone is wondering, my favorite niches are pets and electronics. You can always have good money in those.

I'm glad you mentioned the concept of a day off when I feel like I won't get anything done that day. I've been doing that for a few months, glad to see someone else do this, too. I work in the healthcare industry, and I play jazz/healing frequency/lofi music in the background of tasks I don't want to do, it makes it a little less shit. Also, as a student nurse I appreciate you considering the nurses - I asked a junior doctor once if he wanted a drink and he looked at me shellshocked, haha!

Play characters- I was an only child with an unwell mother so i rarely played with others. Both parents were teachers - dad a high school maths teacher, mum a work from home piano teacher. So other kids mostly got my parents attention. I learnt that reading was my safe quiet, not bothering others, escape. I also have writer's block and no confidence in myself

The Batman technique is something I do fairly often (I didn't know it was called that but that's amazing). The issue I find with that is I feel like I'm lying to people, in a way. Like, I'm not being my true self and that makes me feel guilty for lying to people about who I am. For the most part, it works, but then there are times when I just feel like a fraud.

Dear Ali Abdaal I'm a huge fan of your content and have been inspired by your videos. I have a proposal that I believe could be mutually beneficial. I'd like to dub your videos into another language and upload them to reach a wider audience. I'm willing to take care of all the work involved, including translation and dubbing. In return, I'm suggesting a 50:50 revenue share for our collaboration. This partnership could potentially open up new horizons for your content and help it resonate with a global audience. I'm confident that together, we can achieve great results. If this idea intrigues you, please let me know, and we can discuss the details further. I'm excited about the prospect of working together and amplifying the reach of your fantastic videos. Looking forward to your response. Best regards, [Shubh Chaurasia]
