I'm not sure actually. You should give the office a call and they should be able to help you out right away. Mike (the guy who builds the reels in this video) is usually sitting right behind the person who answers the phone so he can provide the answers right away. :)

Christina, the best thing to do would be to phone Islander's office on Monday. The lady who answers the phone literally sits behind the builders so she could get the answer for you right away and send you the parts if needed. 1-250 544 4856

When I go to unscrew one of my handles the whole handle just spins. How do I get it apart? I’d like to oil it because it squeaks but I can get the screw out.

Fishing with Rod. Thanks I’m at a loss. I don’t want to try and grab it with pliers or anything could mar it up. But they’re squeaky so I’d like to take it off to oil.

Because the material isn't cheap, the process of precision cutting so it can spin forever isn't cheap, anodizing isn't cheap, labour isn't cheap as everything is done in Canada but quality control is a lot higher. You get what you pay for.

  • @crxdan

@Dragomir RonilacNot really, just the aluminum alone costs about $35, add a good set of bearings $20-$30. Add all the other materials, anodizing and hardware and your'e well over $100-$150. Now add machining time (which is quite costly when precision machining is involved) anodizing, assembly, etc. If you are trying to compare the costs to offerings that are made in China for next to nothing then I think youv'e found yourself a gold mine and you should buy and sell their reels for profit, you'll make millions :P BTW I make my own pins so I know whats involved, want to throw some jabs give er.
