@@tradinginzone3611 - sorry, I have no idea about the process because it's not something I've intentionally pursued - I simply never knew it was a thing until three days ago when I first heard about it from the American Dad when Steve Smith said to have had it. I'm quite logical when it comes to decision making, and I'm often well aware of my surrounding - not sure if this have anything to do with it but I would guess that being realist is atleast a prerequisite. I say realist here because a realistic mind is the only mind able to deferentiate between reality and fiction. All in all, I'm a deep thinker.

@@chochooshoe Reality checks, or state tests as they are called, are more a supplementary practice than a stand alone technique. They can help with daytime awareness, but are not a stand alone practice to do in a vacuum. Furthermore, spamming them and relying on alarms tends to lead to mindlessness not mindfulness. Critical thinking and present moment awareness are requirements for a good state test. I'd recommend researching techniques like MILD (The Mnemonic Induction of Lucid Dreams), WILD (wake initiated lucid dreaming), SSILD (Senses Initiated Lucid Dreaming), and SAT (Sporadic Awareness Technique). I'd post links to guides I recommend, but in the past, KZread has deleted comments I've posted with links, so I try to avoid that to keep from having my work in writing them go to waste. I will warn you about some common MILD and WILD misconceptions though. MILD is commonly described as repeating a phrase to yourself as you fall asleep, which it is not. Inaccurate WILD guides will often say that a specific sleeping position is required, laying completely still is required, or that sleep paralysis is either required for or caused by WILD. These are things to be on the lookout for. The original MILD recommendations may be found in Chapter 3 of Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming by Dr. Stephen LaBerge. The guide I recommend is on the website of Dr. Kristin LaMarca, Mindful Lucid Dreaming dot com. @onyxproxy8923 I'm mentioning you as well, as you expressed interest in what the original commenter was doing, so I figured you could benefit from this as well. Good luck to both of you.

Hola, Jim Kwik, just found this content--I recall the one lucid dream I had long ago--realized I was dreaming, then found I could change the colors in the dream, then I was flying on my back, when I looked over my shoulder and looking down I would begin to fall, realized if I believe I could fly I will stay flying so I continued to fly, then the dream was over. Afterwards, I found a scripture that helped me to understand--"For God speaks again and again, in visions of the night when deep sleep falls on men as they lie in their beds, He opens their ears in times like that, and gives them wisdom and instruction" Job 33:15-16. Kudos for your content. Respectfully submitting, Dann

You can practice with things you already know how to do, or reinforce things you know or are learning. The one thing you can't do is reference outside information. While you can use lucid dreams to help reinforce the memories you do have, you can't check from within the dream to determine if what you are remembering is correct.

However, when I inform the dream characters that I am aware it's a dream, and I am currently in a state of sleep while they are not real, they bizarrely begin to attack me. On one occasion during a lucid dream, they insisted that it was reality, not a dream. In response, I humorously asked them, "Alright, now tell me, what time is it? What year is it?" They remained silent and provided peculiar responses, leaving me amused. 🤣

It's definitely harder to lucid dream when you're not getting enough sleep, and unfortunately, your issue sounds like a medical problem, not one easily fixed through proper sleep hygine. Is there no other medication you could take to help you sleep, seeing as your ensomnia is caused by a medication you're already taking? This helps you remember those dreams, find patterns in dreams, and remember more dreams. Next, also before bed, set intentions to remember your dreams when you wake up by actively deciding that you will remember your dreams when you wake up. The more important this decision is to you personally and the more you think about it, the more likely you are to remember your dreams when you wake up. There's nothing mystical about intentions, as any time we decide to do something in the future or at a later moment in time we set an intention. Finally, whenever you wake up and as quickly as possible upon waking up, do a thing we call dream delving. This involves laying in the sleeping position you woke up in and thinking about what you were last dreaming, thinking, experiencing with your senses, feeling emotionally, etc. If you cannot get anything, try to think about what you could have been dreaming about. If you get vague emotions or thoughts, try to think about why you were getting those thoughts. If you get dream scenes, work your way backwards from end to beginning to recall as much detail as possible. Once you've gotten as much as you can from one sleeping position, move to any other sleeping positions you may utilize throughout the night and repeat the procedure. This works by utilizing the mechanisms for how memory access works. First, accessing dream memories works partly off state dependent memory, so those dream memories associate with the sleeping positions you were in when you had the dreams. Second, memory itself works off association, and since the memories at the end of the dream are easiest to recall and access overall, you start with those and associate to the memories before those and so on until you've gotten as much as you can. Then you journal what you have been able to recall.

Yes it is. I've had over a thousand in 3 years. What all have you been practicing? More importantly, how do you perform each method you use, step by step? How many of your 4-6 dreams a night do you remember? How much detail do you remember from your average dream? Do you keep a healthy and consistent sleep schedule? Do you use any substances that interfeer with REM sleep? Finally, which lucid dreaming techniques have you practiced consistently for at least a month without switching methods?

I want to like this video because i love lucid dreaming but it does have some lacking information (better than i expected after the thumbnail though) 1. Dream Journaling is the key to lucid dreaming but the main purpose was not stated. In addition to dream recall, analyzing your dreams allows you to understand why you didn't get lucid in a previous dream and look for it in waking life to do reality tests when you have a similar thought process. 2. Reality tests CANNOT be habitual. If you do it on autopilot, you'll do it in the dream without properly considering the implications of the result and not become lucid. Also having external reminders for reality tests has poor carryover into dreams. Also the sticky note method of asking the dream if it is a dream is a horrible reality test for most people because it requires you to already expect that you're dreaming to work because it's just a form of dream control. The most reliable reality tests are most pinch like you said and reading text, looking away, and then looking back. Additionally question where and when you are and if it makes sense One more thing is that the finger counting fails very often but works for some so I'd recommend avoiding that one 3. Small detail but wake induced lucid dream isn't a real term. Stephen laberge called the concept of maintaining awareness into a dream "wake initiated lucid dream" Small detail but more people are going to get it wrong if not corrected. Also it isn't a technique, it's one of the 2 types of lucid dream (other being dream initiated lucid dream, or getting lucid after the dream begins, most common type). There are many techniques such as wake back to bed to achieve a wake initiated lucid dream but it isn't a technique on its own I like your channel so don't take this as hate, I just hold you to a high standard

Hey there. Wouldn't you know it, a fresh breath of experienced lucid dreamer fresh air. I agree on like 95% or so of what you just said, having said much the same myself in numerous comments on this video already. I dislike WILD guides that get the acronym wrong. It's a simple thing, so if you mess that up, what else have you messed up? It's a sign of inaccurate advice to come. WILD is a sort of framework, as all methods to do it rely on the same principles, maintaining passive awareness of something as you fall asleep to consciously transition into a dream. I disagree that WBTB is a WILD technique. It's more a support method done with techniques like MILD, SSILD, or WILD, yes, a technique and a category, at least how I see it. WBTB is simply the process of waking up, staying awake for a set amount of time determined by the user and hopefully by how long it takes that individual user to fall asleep, performing a technique for lucid dreaming, and returning to sleep. Other than that, agreed with everything else you said.

@@SkyfallBlindDreamer I did word that wrong. I agree with the part you said about it being a framework and that it can also lead to DILDs, but would still say SSILD is a horrible technique in my experience, and I have a hard time labeling WILD as both a technique and category but I respect your knowledge. It's great to see another logical lucid dreamer

@@samuelzins5089 Thank you. I haven't done SSILD personally, though I know it has been studied. One main critique with it is that there seems to be a point where you don't really progress with it, and you can only get to a certain point. Thus, maybe good for beginners if they can get lucid with it, but likely not a long term strategy for increased LD frequency. MILD is actually my go-to, and has been now for 3 years. You in any other lucid dreaming communities? I'm highly active on Reddit and active on Discord as well.

Are you saying you typically get lucid? You know that you are dreaming? In that case, I would suggest that you learn dream control. I can help you with that by giving you my description of how it works on a foundational level. Dream control is ultimately self control, as dreams are controlled through how you perceive them. If you have any questions about this, please don't hesitate to ask. Dream control works on how you perceive what you're experiencing. The goal is to strongly associate actions you take and decisions you make with the results you want to have happen. How we remember, classify, and define things and interpret situations, it's all based on how we associate things. Groups of interconnected associations related to a concept, thing, etc, are a schema, schemata plural. Consider the fact that right now, we are communicating with one another. We can read and write this message without expressly considering the definition of read, write, expressly, consider, or communicate. We just know, because we have learned to associate those words subconsciously with their meanings. We do this with a ton of things all the time. You see or hear something, you have an idea of what it is, this helps inform you through learning of what you are experiencing in the environment around you. What you believe or think about an experience, your emotions in the moment, your mindset, etc, these can influence how you perceive things. Just something like someone walking toward you for example. If you're in what you perceive as a safe and familiar area, you may just perceive that person as going about their business and not a threat to you. If you're in what you perceive or think of as a dangerous part of town, and you see someone you don't know walking in your direction, your response to that may be different. Of course, when we're awake, there are externalities. There's an actual other person there who is doing something, and what we perceive of that person doesn't define their actions, though it can inform us of how we might respond. In dreams however, there are no externalities. It's like an echo chamber of sorts. That perception you have of what you experience is reality. If you can control that perception, you can control the experience itself.

All negatives can teach us something. 4. Jim understand that the criticism is pointed at the information not at him personally. - 5. Here is how I, myself, disperse criticism. I say... - a. "I'm sorry that you feel that way." - b. If I were you I might feel that way myself" - c. "What can I do to make it right?" __________ My personal response to negs works about 80% of the time. The other 20% will never change their criticism no matter what I say or do. Proving that :you can't please all of the people, all of the time."

@@Tom-Travels I will say, the commenter here could have elaborated more, as I personally made a point of doing when I commented today. The criticism I have is a bit nuanced. I think that Jim said a lot of good things here, but I disagreed with the emphasis placed on state testing, plus some advice he gave for state testing such as using alarms and reminders as well as doing 100 or so a day that run counter to mindful state testing and cause state tests to become mindless and autopilot, the exact opposite of what is sought. This is a pretty normal thing for us to do when exposed to something over and over again, as we get to a point where we're desensitized to a thing and start ignoring it. Quality is far superior to quantity for state tests. Then there's the fact that state testing alone is like hard mode for lucid dreaming, as it's far from the most effective practice that it's pointed out to be, closer to the opposite if done just by itself, as its benefits come in helping enhance other methods through critical awareness, and in dreams, state tests act as a confirmation measure rather than a lucidity trigger. I come at this from my own experiences learning and teaching lucid dreaming to others over the past 3 years. I tend to expect less than what I got here from a content creator who is not specifically in the field of lucid dreaming, and the sad truth is, so many of them on this platform that do focus on lucid dreaming get a lot of things wrong. I love how Jim referenced the skill training aspect, as it's something glossed over by so many people, and it is important for understanding how to approach a skill like lucid dreaming. Anyway, if you made it this far, thanks for reading, and have a good day.
