to cut the sprins do you need a spring compressor?

I use to have a 87 cutlass supreme back in the 90s and back them if we wanted to lower a car some we just heated the springs with a jack set to the height we wanted the car to be and heated them until the car slowly fall to the jack and slowly let the springs cool down on its own so the car won't have to much bounce.

I cut my springs but it only took about 2 minutes because I didn't take anything apart to do it, I simply removed the wheels, jacked the frame of the car up to take the weight off the suspension and cut the springs while still in place...easy.

i've done this in one of my 240sx and got more of an agressive look and the handling/stiffness increased, it had tien springs with koni gas 4 way struts. as long as its 1 spring cut and even its a great mod, seen it done on a sn 98 5.0 convert mustang and it was badass too
