Another good thing about reading is that it stimulates your imagination like nothing else can. For example, when you read a novel, the author describes what they want you to see. However, you get to create the image seen by your mind’s eye. It’s yours alone. One hundred people can read the same book and their visuals will be different, each as unique as the person doing the reading. So, in essence, each reads a slightly different book. Unfortunately, when you watch a movie or TV show, one person has already decided how it will look and everyone who watches it can only see it as that one person imagined it. Very little imagination required. Kinda sad, really.

Books are great. Film is great too. It is the imagination of the many talented writers, actors, musicians, stage crews, and artists coming together to create a collective story from the minds of all those who worked on it. The imagination that goes into a film is too incomprehensible for one person think of alone, that’s why so many work on it. And we don’t use as much imagination when viewing film, because we couldn’t imagine it all even if we tried. It isn’t sad, it’s quite beautiful...

Reading stimulates your brain with new information, like a sponge. I think if you do a lot of reading at an early age (and continue doing that your whole life), you’ll know a lot more than someone that doesn’t read at all. And especially the more you read, the more it brings curiosity.

A long time ago, I had lost my reading habit. When I realised it, I saw so many videos about how to get back into the habit of reading. But this video has literally changed my perspective of reading. I had forgotten what actually reading for pleasure felt like. Now, i think I know how it feels back again. This video is very inspirational.. keep up the good work!!!!!!!🎉🎉

Thank you for the video, your advice is sound and I actually took some notes while watching it. 1) Take a book with you everywhere. 2) Don't start with a book you are "supposed" to read, start with a book that especially interests you. Also, it doesn't have to be a big book. 3) Do not force yourself to finish a book, do not feel guilty to quit if the book isn't doing it for you. 4) After finishing a book, ask yourself: What did I like and dislike about that book, how did it resonate with me? This turn reading into an exploratory process. Keeping a reading journal helps with this. 5) Social reading: talk to friends who love reading, share books. Join a book club or create one yourself if there is none close to you. 6) Become a member of a library. 7) Do not view reading as a chore, look at it as a better choice to spend your time. 8) Set specific time for reading, add reading to your daily schedule. 9) Consider the benefits of having a reading nook: designated area for reading, a quiet, cosy spot. 10) Take notes while reading, e.g. write down words in a list and then check them up, as a result your vocabulary will improve.

Books are so massively underrated. Not only is it like having a conversation with the author, but its also structured thought, something you will never really get with a casual conversation.

Such a good question. It might make sense to pause at the end of each paragraph to check in with yourself, to see if you're still engaged with what you're reading. Ask yourself, what happened in this paragraph, what did I learn, did they describe someone/something? Eventually you'll get used to including that little moment to process what you just read before you move on.

While watching your video and seing the love you have for it, I saw my self through my teenage days. I was fascinated by reading. I used to read at least a book a month, through 15 to 18 years old. Even when, in my last year of high school, I was also attending a preparatory curse, singing classes, piano classes and swimming classes. But then, college came, just like my first job. I had a lot to do, so many articles to read and so little time to enjoy a good book that I had chosen myself. And now that I'm graduated, I've been struggling into going back to my old reading habit. It has been two weeks since I started cutting down on my social media use and deleting some other medias. I need time to focus on that. I started so many good books, but didn't finish any. I'm not a native English speaker, I'm a Brazilian. But because I love English so much, I decided to try on English books, choosing a book that fancied my interest. I chose "when bad things happen to good people". I finally felt that love for reading again. I read 30 pages em 2 hours on my fist day, which for me didn't use to be so much, but I'm so proud of myself now. I want to feel that love for reading again. Thank you for this video, it reminded me of my own eyes when talking about reading in the past. I hope you're great, and thank you for that.

That's really good advise. No need to read the book in one day....start slow..and keep reading it when ever we get time. Carry it everywhere you go. Cool.

Excellent values. I'm often surprised by the results when reading a book or story through someone else's eyes as it usually tends to differ from my own.

Melhor vídeo que tu já fizeste, na minha humilde opinião. Seria maravilhoso se fosse feito em português também para poder ser compartilhado com alguns amigos e familiares. Adoro teu trabalho! Abraço do Brasil
