With stories is different because the author takes you to the journey the reader decides to make when it starts reading the book. Interesting how Naval Ravikant has a different way of reading, in the sense, he doesn’t start with the intention of finishing it. He admits to reading 6-7 books at a time while reading bits and pieces of each depending on his inclination... different ways of reading but both effective nonetheless. I am not enjoying it in English, I think it needs to be read in a Latin language to really get the flavor of it, however, I do not speak or read Spanish yet; so I think his other books I will get in French. My French is quite advanced.

Like the ideas here. Just because a book is an older form of media doesn’t mean you have to interact with that media in a traditional way. Write in the margins, listen to a podcast about the ideas in the book. Whatever gets the new info to stick for you.

Never completely switch to ebooks. I've read 52 books this year and only 6 were eBooks. Paper books are part of the experience of reading. It brings a more tactile part to reading and seeing the pages is a better indication of your progress than a percentage bar at the bottom of your Kindle screen.

It's funny that the founder of Microsoft prefers paper books over e-books. I can relate to that. In paper book or magazines, I can thumb quickly through the book to get an overview (back and forth), jump quickly between text and notes, quickly highlight. For non-fiction books, I still prefer paper books. For fiction, e-books are OK.

Watching inside bills brain on Netflix, you realize just how much of a bookworm he is by the bag he carries around with him, pre picked / packed by his assistant. His reading list is very broad. I think a proficient reader can go a lot faster with paper than an e-book or an audio book, and information absorption will be much higher.

Nemo TheEight depends on the content IMO: I don’t read much fiction, but when I do i would want to read slowly to enjoy, I read autobiography’s mostly for facts and self improvement, I generally speed through the drawn out stories and to the crux of each learning. A number of autobiography’s literally repeat the 1st chapter multiple times too.
