My high school yearbook senior quote was “there’s no cosmetic for beauty like happiness”. I’m not sure where the quote came from but I’ve pretty much been living by it since then. I’ll be 52 in a couple of months. I try to stay positive and smile. I also find that exercising daily helps me feel great. I enjoy the ritual of putting on makeup, not a heavy makeup look but more the no makeup makeup look. I find that putting time into my makeup and clothes makes me happy.

💯 agree. I will add that diet makes a huge difference, too. The old saying “garbage in, garbage out” is not a joke. You can be all dolled up and have perfect makeup, but if you eat crap, it will show on your face and skin, as well as your waistline.

Another great way to continue looking young as we age that many women overlook is weight training! As women we lose bone density over time and doing weight bearing exercises help prevent that so we don’t turn into those little old ladies that are stooped over. Not to mention the sculpting benefits that also help keep our bodies looking younger!

Love all the Peepers, especially the first one. Great tips everyone should follow - making your bed, nothing left in the sink, etc. It is the best feeling when you’re walking around your home and it feels tidy. I get what you’re saying about the three quarter length sleeves and agree, however, it’s what is available after mid winter. I prefer long sleeves all year, and push them up, because I don’t love the way my arms look. I’m working on that. 🤦‍♀️ This was a great video, Marnie! Thank you!

Teeth whitening products. I’m 64 and I feel my teeth have gotten dingy looking, so I got a tube of teeth whitening toothpaste from my dentist (not expensive) but it makes me look better so I feel better.

I read something recently and have been doing it. Use your enamel building toothpaste at night before bed, and your whitening toothpaste in the morning when you brush. Best of both worlds!

Thanks for the encouragement to refresh Marnie. Since the 3/4 length sleeve debate is always pertinent, I’m slim and stick to shirts that fit closely for my3/4 length sleeve otherwise it looks like I’m wearing a tent. I’ll never give them up however, it’s a style that’s flattering on me and that’s more important than being “dated”.

I love the smile tip and the stand up straight tip! As a singer and voice teacher, I have learned and taught the Alexander Technique for years. Alignment is key to singing well and actually *living* well. I tell my clients “ears over shoulders, shoulders over hips, hips over knees, knees over ankles’. Love your videos!

At age 40ish I began working for someone who suggested that I use coconut oil--organic and unrefined. I stopped buying $100 creams and began using coconut oil at night before bed and before applying primer or foundation. What a difference! I buy a gigantic container from Costco which lasts several months. I also use sunscreen.

I use coconut oil sometimes and put it in those tiny Tupperware containers from Dollar Tree. There are about 10 in a pack for $1.25.

I tried the Kroger version and it wasn't even close. But I've heard really good things about the Trader Joes one-IF you can get it. It sells out so quickly!

Many must agree because when I went to buy a back up tube everyone was sold out of the fair light color. Bobbi Brown Luxe lipsticks have skin care ingredients in them and make my 67 year old lips look smooth and pretty. My favorite color is Pink Nude. Your readers look so cute on you. I loved this video! I would also like to add another tip! Keep your nails and toes manicured- I think it helps hide the ridges in the nails that become more noticeable as we age and give a more youthful appearance to the whole hand in general. That being said, remove it immediately if it chips. There was a nothing that tells people you don’t take care of yourself more than chipped nail polish or jagged nails. IMO.

Angie at Hotandflashy convinced me to start SPF seriously some years ago. I have never stopped. I try to convince my friends to quit exposing their face to the sun without sunscreen. I've always used make up with SPF, but that's just not enough. Now, I LOVE Australian Gold and Elta MD UV Clear. My "go to" is Australian Gold. I love the feel, smell, etc. I do use my regular moisurizer underneath and it absorbs and plays with the sunscreen. In the summer I use the medium color to make me a have a little more sunkissed look. Also, make up needs to be toned down and neutral as we age. I abandoned my vibrant blue, green, and purple eyeshadows. Now I do very subtle shades or opt for nudes.

The way I always describe it is wanting to look "more youthful" - not younger, youthful - full of life, healthy, part of the world, checked in, well groomed, tuned in! My stepdad was youthful until the last day of his life at 76 because he was just full of life and it showed in how he looked. He didn't "look younger", he just "didn't look OLD".

Glad there are more tube mascara options finally. Have used l’Oreal Double Extend beauty tubes mascara for years because comes off so easy, just warm water. Can also put other mascara on top of it because you are actually adding it to the tubes vs. the lash shaft.

Nothing makes me feel younger than moving my body- walking, dancing, yoga and especially strength training. As we get older our muscle mass says far more about how we are aging than our wrinkles. Having said that, I'm all about the sunscreen :)!

Agreed - tretenoin plus sunscreen are the key to good skin. I don’t walk around smiling all the time - I don’t particularly like my smile and it can look a bit cheesy/fake, and especially in major cities and outside the US where you wouldn’t see people just walking down the street with a big smile for no reason.

I love what you said about freshening your environment! This does make a huge difference in one's mood and, therefore, appearance when things are in order around them!

YES to blue light eye protection from screens. The glasses truly make a difference with my eye strain, and the Peepers are attractive. Do you have any other tips like eye drops or soothing patches that help with eye strain? Working from home on a computer, I no longer line my eyes or use mascara until I go out. I do lips, brows, and blush with my comfy lounge wear though.

Great topic. I like hearing about cultural attitudes towards appearance/aging and women. For reference, I’m American of Mexican descent. When my mom was in her 40’s, she cut her hair. I learned later that this was a thing back then (1970’s-1980’s and later). However my grandmother-born and living in Mexico- kept her hair long and wore it in a braid or a low bun. The clothing trends have also evolved in the past 30 years too and there are cultural differences there as well (some of it based on class, etc).

Thank you for that! I'm 70 and don't desire to look younger but just my best. I will not get a facelift, injections of any sort it makes ppl look so artificial if they really looked at themselves, but of course that's my opinion, but I've heard others say the same thing. Yes smiling uses less muscles than frowning!

I look at differently. Since it’s such a blessing we’ve been given, I want to honor it by always trying to look my best.

So glad to hear that 3/4 sleeves are not the best choice for most people. I have really begun to feel uncomfortable wearing them and am down to only owning a few. I have scrawny forearms and wrists which are made to look even more scrawny with 3/4 sleeves! LOVE long sleeves and short sleeves - usually avoid sleeveless as I prefer more sun protection 🌞

I don’t know what took me so long to use supergoop unseen ! It is a holy grail !

The second bag just came back in stock, and there is an additional color now. I love it - but it doesn't hold a lot. It's definitely not an everyday bag for me. It's more of switch for the day bag. Sleeves are rough for me. I love a good 3/4 length as it bridges the long vs short sleeves. Hot & cold flashes are nuts sometimes, and long sleeves make the hot worse, but you can only push them up so far sometimes. I find during the flashes adding a light sweater layer to take on & off can be too much if I go with a short. It's a rough balance some days!!

I'd add whiten your teeth and minimize sugar intake. Would love an updated video on how to look better in photos:) Thx

A consistent skin care routine with tretinoin and sunscreen and working out moderately every day are the two things that I think help me the most. The third thing is more of a mindset, but I don’t make generalizations about younger generations. As soon as I hear someone complain that young people today don’t do this or that, I immediately think that person is an old grouch. 😁 No amount of skin care, makeup or hair color can fix that.

The translucent green and pink ones were actually my fav!! I need those!

Tretinoin yes!I have been using the highest strength for several years. I think it will be a product that I always use. I am 68. I love my skin now more then ever.

I agree with all of this. Just having a bday I have been dealing with wanting to look younger 😂 BUT, aging is a privilege and we need to embrace it. I use the La Roche SPF, Bare Minerals SPF and Neutogena as well. I’ve used SPF daily for close to 20 years. I also just started Tret and can see a different already in 4 /5 months. :) I do need to work on the smiling though. 😂
