I appreciate these help videos but I disagree with this technique. You dont get a true load test result with it jacked up. Clip you leads from your meter on the main positive and main negative and drive your cart and watch the meter. That will give you a much more accurate result. There isn’t much of a load when the cart is just jacked up in the air. Again, no disrespect meant, I have watched many of your videos and got help. Thanks.

You are absolutely correct. Normally when I'm assisting someone on load testing I have them depress the accelerator to reach around 80% speed and then lightly depress the brake pedal at the same time to put an equal load on the battery pack. I can't believe I didn't put that in the video. Thanks for watching and noticing!!!

My cart is not getting power when the accelerator is pressed. I've troubleshot the solenoid and it doesn't seem to be the problem. I want to lead test the batteries, as all of them read 8.3 individually, but that is not under load. Will pressing the accelerator pedal actually show load values in this case, or knowing that that something else is broken-will that prevent this test from being effective?

I just bought a 72 AMF Harley Davidson Electric golf cart, and need help diagnosing it. It will try to move forward, solenoids are clicking, reverse will move a little bit. But not more than a few feet. Batteries are charged, and are nearing time to be replaced. But I don't think that's the problem. It should go tho I'm sure it's distance, time and hill capacity would be compromised. But I'm thinking the speedcontroller, and/or microswitch, could be bad, and how would I test the delay thingy?

the batteries are connected in a series...it looks like none of your negative terminals are linked. If so, how are you generating a load???

If a 6 volt battery drops to 5.2 initially and then levels off at 5.9 or above is that acceptable?

I use 6volt golf cart batteries (2) in series (12v) for my cabin to give me AC power using an inverter. I keep them charged 24/7 when not in use with a trickle charger. What I would like to know can I use a car load tester to test them to make sure they are OK or is there another way to do this? Thanks in advance.

Barry, you say on 48 volt system each battery should be 7.9 volts. What is the system minimum that is across all 6 -8 volt batteries and under load voltages? mine is 49.8 under load- jacked up press accelerator for ten seconds. each battery 8.1 or higher. however , in Florida i get 14 to 16 golf holes before i go into a slow mode. Club Car Precedent will only run about two miles per hour or less to a almost stop mode. when fully charged- i measure across system 50.1 to 52 volts. Any suggestions that might fix my issue?

@@golfcartking hey my golf cart has a full battery charge as I just checked, but when pressing accelerator nothing happens, and when switching the switch from tow to run I can’t hear anything clicks or any noise what could be wrong you think?

I had the same problem. I bought a solenoid which is what makes the click noise. Well come to find out. It was the controller that was bad. The controller gets hot though it's life and eventually dies. There pretty expensive but worth the fix if you plan on having or using the cart like me for our campground

My 2011 club car when starting to accelerate that cart will jerk a couple times, once going it will be fine until having to Accelerate again, any idea what this might be?

Motor is damaged from someone holding the accelerator down to keep the cart stopped on a hill. I think it's referred to as a welded motor. Think of the electricity going through the brush to the commutator but instead of the commutator spinning it just sits still and the electricity goes to only one spot. This can be fixed by an electric motor repair shop or you can get a brush kit and clean the "weld" off the commutator yourself with sandpaper and repolish it so the brush can ride smooth.

Thanks for all the info on this channel - very helpful. I have a 2008 EzGo cart where I replaced the old batteries since they didn't seem to hold the charge for more than 90 minutes. Now I have new batteries and I have the same issue. I'm losing power somewhere - how can I track down where the power is getting lost or why the fully charged batteries only run for 90 minutes or so. I bought new batteries and a new charger already and am still having the same issues.

More than likely it's going to be an accessory pulling the energy out of the batteries. All I know is to disconnect each of the accessories one at a time to see if you find the issue.
