I love the idea of “food as medicine”. My good friend, who lost about 100 lbs by changing his diet and lifestyle, likes to say that too many people “eat for sport and not for nutrition”. And that “America has the best professional eaters on the planet” 😅. Great video as always!!!

My husband is Italian and he made that exact observation once when we went back for a visit . Being American I’d never thought about it like that, but it’s true. We eat to fill a void, or something… it’s like eating IS our culture 😅

We were recently on a trip that included a Chinese group. The Asians had a great time, walking, exercising and laughing. The Americans on the group complained about everything and refused to walk even a few hundred yards. Of course, the Americans were gobbling heavy American food while the Asians ate sushi and more traditional food. We hung out with the Asians even though we are Anglo.

Really appreciate your channel. Also enjoyed your motorcycle channel. Common interests. My wife and I have been vegan for 29 years. Steadily have moved towards whole foods plant based. For us I think the evidence shows we made the correct decision. My wife is a mirror image twin. Sadly her twin who ate the SAD, died from a brain aneurism. She had most of the common health problems associated with a heavy animal based diet. I live with Marfan Syndrome. I have already surpassed my life expectancy by more than 20 years. I have managed my issues by listening to my body and experimenting. I avoid doctor's and the American health care system. From reading the China Study I surmised that doctors and hospitals kill about a half million people a year in the U.S.. Great video. Always look forward to your next one.

I love your videos! I'm on faculty at Loma Linda University and work with some of the people who work on the Adventist Health Study. (In fact, I'm working on a paper on diet and cognitive performance with some colleagues, including Joan Sabate, right now.) I'm not SDA, but it's really interesting to observe how much a healthy lifestyle is part of their faith. The funny thing is that my lifestyle has been like that of the strictest Adventists since long before I knew anything about them. I hope that means I'll live as long and as healthily as they do!

I have nothing but respect for people who do the uncomfortable but right thing. Thank you for using this platform the way you do! I'm not American but German and I was concerned by the statistics that Germans have one of the lower expected living ages in Europe although we are one of the richest countries with highly accessible health care. I came to the same conclusion that our nutrition plays a big part in it. But also how we work, how we have less time to cook or walk or care for family, for sports, hobbies etc. We also often lack our own houses or gardens we could work on (ergo getting daily movement). And we, as a culture, really like to complain a lot lol. I can only argue that my personal health has extremely improved since I switched jobs (less work and also less money, but more time to cook healthy and walk a lot everyday with my partner, starting to lift as a hobby, stop spending my money on BS etc). Our minds and bodies have to align to be healthy. Money alone can't buy that, but it helps (in buying better quality food, affording to take time off and investing in healthy habits instead of just consume more stuff).

Wo kommst Du her? Ich komme aus dem bergischen, das ist zwar Milch dominiert, aber mit sehr vielen Bauerneintöpfen, Obst und Schwarzbrot. Die alten Leute, die traditionell leben, fahren mit 90 noch Fahrrad und Auto.

Great video Chris. My wife and I enjoy challenging ourselves by taking recipes from a wide range of cuisines from cookbooks, including Asian/Indian, and adjusting them to fit out plant-based eating (though these particular cuisines tend to require very minimal adjustments). They always highlight very fresh and aromatic ingredients

Thanks. I’ve been wondering how your show can be so professionally assembled. This explained it. Of course the underlying research is what pulled me in and kept me coming back.

I always comment on carnivore or anti plant channels " What about the blue zones " I have yet to get a good answer. Some peop;e will say that the blue zones eat more meat than it states in the book. That may be true now, but not historically. Anywhere that adopts a meat heavy western diet loses health and lifespan.

I will boost you up Chris! I love watching your videos. I don't have any tv shows I watch regularly or get excited about, but when I see you have a new video out my heart smiles! I am a plant-based RD and weight loss coach and love that you can boil down some complicated science for me and my clients. I recommend you all the time!

Plagues of Prosperity is a pretty much a good description of alot of what is going on here in America. I don't drink or smoke, but I do have a problem eating sweets, I make sure to avoid bringing the sweets into the house.

Superb video! My mantra for a long life is "Eat plants, have a positive outlook, do good, and smile." It's a good way to recenter the focus in a chaotic and complex world shouting different things lol 🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷

Thank you so much for your research and for putting the links to it in your description! I will be linking to this video to reinforce my citations of the Adventist Studies. I didn't know about the one comparing SDA's with other Americans who don't smoke etc. So often claims are made that the only reason SDA's live so long are the other variables besides diet. I point out that those SDA's who don't eat meat are healthier and live longer than those who do, but that study will really help!
