How to live a slow life in the city

Does life in the city have to be fast and hectic? Is a slow life only for those who live in a cottage in the countryside? Today I'd love to share my thoughts and tips on how to slow down when we live in the city.

I live in a small town and we chose it for its charming and cozy environment, beautiful architecture, and art community. Unfortunately, the building next to our antique shop where my mother and I live was turned into a music venue and no amount of ear plugs and white noise machines will drown out the music that goes until midnight five days a week or the drunks yelling and fighting and racing up and down the street when it closes. Recently the arcade on the other side of us started hosting screaming death metal concerts. My mother moved in with me because her cozy woodland cabin in the mountains has been broken into twice last year and I was afraid the bad guys would come back when she was there alone. So no matter where you live, there is a potential downside or something that will disrupt your peace. Anywhere you live you have to find creative solutions and try to focus on the beauty in your surroundings. Ultimately, no matter where you live, it is a mindset that preserves and protects one's peace. 🌻

Oh wow, I'm so so sorry to hear that! You really don't expect that when you move to a small town. Your mum's cabin sounds soooo cozy and I'm so sorry she couldn't just enjoy living there in peace. I wish you all the best and hope the situation will change and you'll get a bit more peace and quiet in your home! 💖🍀

One thing the city has over country living is the convenience of all you need. When I lived there I use to ride my bike more. Living 10 to 15 minutes away from any stores or places of entertainment by car, can be a pain sometimes. But I prefer, by far, the quiet slow living of the country, and now just visit the city when necessary.

Yes, I agree! I think living in the countryside but being able to reach the city quickly by car or train is a great combo. 😊

Just to continue after your very late response 😅🙃 I am very late watching your new videos, you are very late with your responses, so I think this makes us equal 😅 The past couple months were crazy for me with business and this will continue for the whole June! I am just waiting for July to relax 😁 I am very happy about your new position in the world of IT, you are a good person with a good heart and a hard worker, so you deserve it 😉Of course this comes with a lot of responsibilities as you said, but I think you can handle it! And you like travelling, so even if these trips are for business, I think you can still enjoy them! 😉 And yup about your new video I will keep it simple and the only thing that I will say is that, we missed ya a lot and it is good to have you back in our lives with a new video! 😃🌻❤

I love your city! So much beauty and nature within the city itself! If only mine were like that instead so much blight, sadly so many homeless, and so much crime. It’s not possible to wander safely nor to relax when one has to be on constant alert for risks and the weather is sooooooo hot 9 months of the year that being outdoors is very uncomfortable. I’m happy you have a lovely city to call home, but for many, that’s not realistic. 😔

Thank you so much for watching 💖 Yes, Nuremberg is a particularly beautiful city and I understand not all cities are like that - we're really lucky here. There are homeless people and crimes here too, of course, but I never felt unsafe here. I hope you can at least make your home a little island of peace and quiet in the city 💖🍀

@@livelikeliz sure..I'm a busy dad...and work in technology...pretty stressful @ times. I keep soothing music on in the back ground, schedule times of the day when I stop and do nothing for 15- 20 mins...try to walk a few miles daily...and constantly keep reminding myself...its only a job. :)

It would have been very hard for me to have left that lake house. The cityscape shown here looks a lot more agreeable than the one I dealt with growing up. I might not be so allergic to big cities now if I had grown up where you are.

Yes, it was indeed hard to leave the beautiful lake house 😅 But you are right, the cities in this area are quite beautiful and especially the historic town centers give off more small town vibes. Where did you grow up?

@@livelikelizChicago. And while a lot of people love it there, it just felt like way too much frenetic energy and noise all the time. I ended up preferring towns of ~100K people, where there are still enough mod cons but not so small as to feel cloistered.
