This video made me cry because my mom 2017 gmc got stolen she went to get the transmission fixed it had went out we have been waiting for months there’s no way a transmission should be taking that long to get fixed so we went up there they said they have no clue where it is so we call the police but in the state of Florida if u hand someone over your keys it’s not considered stolen so she called her insurance to track it they could not cause the battery is out so there’s nothing they could do they couldn’t give give her money so nothing she can do she have to get rides to go every the truck was 17,000 she paid it in full she didn’t have to make payments she doesn’t have that Type of money no more and she tries to save but she has to pay bills she cry almost everyday and I hate it because of someone who doesn’t have a car and try to take somebody else can’t really say how I feel over text cause nobody understands it’s been hard times. I’m pretty sure even if the car is brought back to dealership, the person you had interested is not going to buy it.

They use key fob extenders now. No need to have a key if the extender can get the key's fequencey.

Pro Tip: Never use a “personal” justification for a choice made on the clock like saying “I wanted to get some steps”. The truth will set you free, except when it can be used to justify action taken against you by your employer.

Ive been watching your channel for 2 weeks now and learned a lot. I just walked out of a Chevy dealer in Arizona because they had a $976 dealer added "Value Protection" fee and a $279 Theft Registration fee.

You do realize I hope, that you don't have to be an idiot to be an inside man or woman... Anybody who thinks only idiots can be conned into helping the criminal, needs to stop and think about that... Just because somebody steals a vehicle, doesn't make them idiots either... For all we know, somebody really needed the money, and thought that was the only way out of their situation...

About 1970 me and a runnin buddy discovered an old brickyard here in Louisville. Of course we had to explore it. There is an “Ole Brickyard Circle” today in Newburg and that might be where it was. When the cops came to check us out they explained that someone removed the engine from a stolen Z-28 in there. They used the seatbelt over a beam to hook the hoist to. Back then the engine probably ended up in a 55-57 Chevy

OnStar can be disabled within minutes while even on the lot before driving off. It's not bulletproof. Either way they would have recovered it by now if .....

I'm retired military and during my time stationed at Ft Bliss Texas I moonlighted as a security guard at a local dealership. Why dont some dealership not hire private security to prevent this type of thing from happening.

here in los angeles i knew of a car salesman who rode with a potential buyer who actually shot the salesman and drove off with the car moments later... unfortunately the car salesman died and the suspect or car was never found... the world is becoming a sad place to live in these days...

Dude. I know a small car lot that does in house financing. They put a gps on every vehicle they finance. I have another friend that works for Freightliner. The finance company makes them put a gps tracker on every truck. Putting gps on your high end cars is a no brainer. Have it taken off before delivery. Cost of doing business. Your car, you track it. Sell it, remove it. I bought a high end Mopar and the salesman told me they gps all their cars. After seeing your story now I know why he told me. They suspect everyone as a potential thief.

That happened to a new Corvette several years ago at our local dealership. Remote Control replacement.

Something seems fishy. If the fob was switched Then how did the salesperson lock the car after it was looked at ? The salesman would not normally use the valet metal key to open/lock the car. Is it possible that the salesperson was working in collusion with the thiefs ?

They had both keys out because it was a trade in. Trade in keys usually stay together

WOW!!! I wish you are able to show a picture or something capture from your camera. Dealers usually have a gate to block or close after their businesses close. No worries, Corona virus gets them soon...But, I pray you will catch them soon.

Did you know a dealership will buy ten cars of the same type for 87% less then what they sell it for. So a car they buy for 1,500 dollars they will sell for 45,000 Dollars and they also doctor cars and trucks.

The dealership will receive full retail from the insurance company. Just saying. They never loose

You clearly aren’t familiar with dealership insurance. I’ve worked at several dealerships over my working career from a Honda and Oldsmobile dealership in high school and college to adventually a Mercedes and then Porsche dealership and I can tell you that dealerships have sky high deductibles just to keep the insurance at a reasonable level because of all the loss, theft, damages that occur daily. Deductibles on accidents was generally $5,000-10,000 and on vehicle theft was $15,000-20,000 and a majority of the time the dealers would just suck it up and pay out of pocket because they were worried of being dropped or having the insurance skyrocket because of claims .....the Porsche store had a customer car stolen out if the service drive and they were going to suck it up and not claim it because of that (it wasn’t a super expensive model luckily was a several years old Cayenne that was prob a $35k car)

jameswillard1 I seriously doubt they will eat the loose of a 70k plus car to save on insurance premiums and if insurance pays off it will be retail dollars and the car was obtained at wholesale. My son owns Ford and Ram dealerships. For sure they don’t want to make claims but in the event that it happens and it has He’s made a few extra bucks. I know all the games trust me. Lol

Back in the day (50's/60's) a salesman would NEVER leave a customer alone with the keys to a car. I suspect there will be a new rule in your salesman manual.

On star can't help? Turn the engine off? Locate it with GPS?

Always wondered cant on star track it. I still use lo jack.

God, how I would love to have a ZL1 I have a 5th Gen Camaro that's modded somewhat, but it's a V6 due to me driving an hour to and from work. Sorry this happened dude.

Check Memphis and Atlanta. The Porsche dealership was hit a while ago and several cars were found in Atlanta. Also check the CarMax across the street. They're known to buy stolen cars. There is a group of thieves hitting car lots in Memphis, especially if on Covington Pike, aka auto row #1

I have been working for Nissan for 5 years and the same exact thing happened to me last week. They also stole a car from a dealership across the street the same night. I didn't even see it coming. I'm happy it happened this way rather then at gun point tho

Its not just a simple thing to swap a VIN plate anymore. The VIN number is coded into the car's BCM and/or PCM (powertrain control module) and you'd need a special computer hookup in order to "edit" that. So, lets say they did what you said - swap VIN plate so the ZL1 becomes a salvage title, and they sell it. Well, if the new owner ever has an issue and needs to visit the service department, they scan the computer and the VIN number will be different.

Just went through this 4days ago. I just ended up buying the stolen vehicle because local PD put VIN# in wrong. We spent our down payment on it just to be a**out of vehicle and $.

Im surprised the salesman didn’t re-lock the car with the fob once he got it handed back him. Most new car dealerships down here in florida in my area wont allow you to drive around the lot even during hours. all entrances are blocked either gated or used cars parked across the entrances.
