How to LIGHTEN DARK STAINS on furniture
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
I love using oxalic acid (wood bleach) to lighten dark water stains and damage that sanding alone doesn't remove. This vintage solid wood table was in desperate need of attention, and I painted the base and revived the top.
Every few months I do a furniture flip for 10,000 Carrots Rabbit Rescue, a rescue near and dear to my heart.
This is the 8th one I've done, and now that I'm on youtube, I can share these with you all as well! Once the piece is completed, I then sell tickets on it with all proceeds to the rescue!
Tickets are only available to those local to us (as I can't ship the furniture), but if you'd like to learn more about the rescue, or even make a donation, you can find them on FB under 10,000 Carrots Rabbit Rescue, or
www.10000carrots.com !

I love the way you keep the integrity of this lovely old table. Love the bunnies 🐰 What a great way to help the charity ❤️
I wanna say that I only found your channel a couple days ago, but I've been watching it multiple times a day since I found it. I love your creativity and the beauty of the work you are doing. I work full time in a cabinet shop and do some woodworking on the side. And, I appreciate the love and care you give these beautiful pieces. I also love the info I get about restoring old pieces. I'm so use to working with newly built pieces, but I've been wanting to work on restoring some older pieces as well. You do amazing work and I love your channel. Keep up the amazing work.
I am thoroughly enjoying your vids. LOVE your bunny heart!! 💚💚 You are so sweet. Sat on my back porch crocheting as I watched your video. And what did I see, but a bunny.
You called it a "refresh", I'm gonna call it a "renew" cause it sure looked new to me. I still think you have a magic wand that you keep out of view, what you do to these pieces is nothing less than magic. I'm gonna keep saying it "any piece that passes thru your hands is blessed"!

Thank you so much! I really appreciate that!
I love the way you repair and restore. I would like to learn more about the treatments you use like the oils and waxes. Maybe you could make a video!
I’m a huge advocate for animal rescues and have definitely done a few myself... I’m so glad KZread put u in my recommendation feed today! Definitely subscribed!! Ty for all u do!
Wow 🤩 6k girl you are on fire 🔥
I'm a huge animal lover and my dream to start a rescue group that takes in the rejected so I think it's awesome that you are doing this for the bunnies. I know there are not very many rescues for bunnies. Great job!!!!

Do you have a pet rabbit? Fortunately, our county shelter here in VA does take bunnies. (Posted at start of video)
Love the way that you’re giving back through your beautiful talent! The table, like the rest of your work, turned out wonderfully, and of course, Millie is adorable. 🐰💕
Sweet table, cute bunny and great tips! I love that you featured this rescue organization on your channel!

I do a lot of fundraising for them! We have four rescues from them and are fostering one as well. Love the buns!
Wow, wish I had seen this years ago when I was gifted a table in such condition just out of college. I would have kept it. Alas, KZread is a gift for the future. Yet another awesome video. Thanks for tackling this project and sharing the steps. This table is beautifully rendered under your skilled hand. Another great success. Thanks for sharing. (But...please do wear gloves, no matter how skilled you are....we care).
Unbelievable transformation! I didn't expect the end result! Love, love it!
Table turned out beautiful!
I love this table - shows what you can do. I've been binge watching your videos, I didn't realise with the first couple that you were "new to youtube" - you do amazing work and your videos are fantastic. I love the detail you put in and your sense of humour. Keep up the great work and thank you for sharing your beautiful craft!
Love the authentic finish on that table! Great job!
Really like the aesthetic. Love that way to fund raise ...great idea!
What a great cause Angie, talented and generous. The table transformed ….beautiful 👏👏👏
Once again a stunning piece.
Love your channel! So glad you did this one. I just aquired a table that is very similar I wasn't sure how to finish it. Thank you so much for the inspiration, and direction. You're my new favorite!!
Love your videos! These bunnies are very lucky to have you on their team ❤
Love this restoration, love the cause and a great video to show how to restore a piece of history! 👍🏻
I love that combination... I’m so tired of all white, cream, beige or grey. The wood and black is perfect 🤩 Another awesome technique for the newbies 💖 I will be checking out your Facebook page soon
I love this makeover. I learned a lot, thank you for giving back !
I just love how meticulous you are. I wish I had that much patience 🤣. I've done some refinishing and have been very happy with the results but I like seeing the products you use and it's inspired me to finally finish my own dining table and a couple chairs. Thanks you!
I am so amazed. Life is full of coincidences. First, I had 3 rescue rabbits. Love bunnies 💖. I have been a member of the House Rabbit Society for years. And secondly, I just bought a table to refinish with the same look and issues. Your video is very helpful. I'm a big fan of your KZread channel. Looking forward to seeing more videos. Good luck with the fundraiser.🐇
I have a table similar to this that came across the US in a wagon. It's very loved and I've been wondering how to restore it. You've given me some beautiful ideas! Thank you! And lots of love to the bunnies!
This is a great fundraiser. Table is beautiful. 👏👏👏
Hi Angie & everyone from this lovely community. I recently renovated an old Peugeot coffee grinder from the 30s or so (French). Made the mistake of using white vinegar with fine steel wool and it tainted it greyish! Of course I only discovered ebonising wood with a vinegar+steel wool solution AFTER doing that😅. So I know that you use oxalic acid to remove stains. I re-sanded that darkened part and OA restored my wood to it's original colour. So thank you because I learned that from you😊❤

Oh no! I'm so glad I could help you fix it though!
I was given a well used dining table just before Christmas. I am going to find that oxalic acid, do your stem trick and I am sure I can get it looking pretty again. I won't be to your standard but I am going to try my best!!

As Andie mentions be sure to wear rubber gloves. I'll also add wear protective glasses or goggles and make sure your in a well ventilated work space. Long sleeve clothing and pants can't hurt either. Remember you are using an acid. I've refinished furniture for years...just sharing some safety tips. Read the warning labels on what ever product you try.
What a beautiful rescue ! ❤ Bravo

What a great table......well done!
Great cause! Thank you for taking us along ☺️
Awesome love bunnies 💕🤗. It turned out gorgeous and you are a good teacher 👍🏻
Sanding it makes a huge difference.
Beautiful! Thank you for explain how the hot pressing iron, and wet towel is used to raise a dent/scratch in wood. Learned that from a furniture dealer 35 years ago, and paid much less for an item I would not have been able to purchase at the regular price. Love this.
Love it! Love the black base
What a lovely table. It just glows. There will be many happy memories made around this resurrected beauty. What a kind and open heart you have using your awesome talent to raise bunny money. Respect.
Absolutely gorgeous
Stunning transformation !! omg !! ................... and those buns ! So SO cute ! I hope by now they are all finding happy loving homes ...
What a stunning transformation, i thoroughly enjoy watching ur videos x
Once again, you did a fantastic job and for a good cause. Your videos are inspiring and informative. Keep up the great work.
I love your fundraiser idea! That’s fantastic!
Omg thank you! I have a desk with this issue. I’m loving your channel.
You are an amazing wealth of knowledge.
I am SO GLAD I watched this video, otherwise I never would’ve known about using oxalic acid to lift water stains from untreated wood. I’m going to try this! I have a bay window with a badly water stained “seat” area from when my mom decided to place plants there and water them before the area was properly stained and sealed, so it’s pretty much sat in this terrible condition for several years. I really didn’t want to paint it just to cover it up, so I’ll give this a go before trying other solutions. Thanks for your videos! They’re all so inspirational, and I love that you support the bunny rescue! 🐰
You put in hard work and your big efforts shows! Congrats ! It’s perfected quality.
Your work never disappoints. Quality finishes always! And may I say, your voiceovers are very informative. I'm a big fan. Great job.
Very pretty color combo! Sweet bunny!

Sooo pretty. Love it. Adorable fur baby.
That really turned out beautiful and I will definitely strip that table top and try the oxalic acid to take out the stain! Thank you so much!!
Awesome as always and the bunnies are so adorable
You are extremely talented!!!
I wanted to tell you, after a bout of covid and a hurricane I was able to work on that table top again and the oxalic acid worked!! There is a slight indented spot where the stain was and I tried the wet rag iron trick but it just worked a little bit. It’s okay, that’s part of this tables history. 😉 I so appreciate your willingness to share your knowledge and experience with us. Thank you! This table has now become a family heirloom. ❤️

Great tips on how to use the acid, oil and even the filler...Thanks! I'm usually not fond of anything gray but this table turned out Gorgeous!!! Really like you kept the authenticity yet buffed out the water/heat staining, it gave it a genuine new life : )

Perfect! I love it.
It looks very very nice!!
Beautiful!
You are a total inspiration! Love your stuff. We used Oxalic acid on our Furniture Restoration course at college. We used it on a spot - need to make a paste and only use it on the spot and literally watch it change colour then quickly wipe it off.
Beautiful work🤗🤗 That bunny is cute❤️
Wonderful job for a great cause!

Learning we are kindred is the BEST THING EVER. The B in my screen name is for Bunnie. Rescued two orphaned cotton tails and got the bunny bug. Thank you for your bunny money mission time effort and commitment. It has been said it takes a village to raise a child...but with a rabbit/the prolific birth rates/it takes a REALLY BIG Village, and a wonderful generous woman and her magical wood work to make a difference. WELL DONE YOU! 🐰💕

great restoration for a sweet cause. nice!
I enjoyed your video and you do great work and your bunny is sooooo cute!
Beautiful ❤️ What a wonderful organization for the Bunny's🐰!! I find it odd when refinishing, most want to sand out all the "caricature" from normal wear ....and when working on "new" they try to mimic it ! 🤷 What a great piece for a great cause 😍
Absolutely beautiful 🌹🌹🌹
I know that this vid is from a while ago, but I felt that I had to comment. I just watched a video of a refinish of an old piece, on another channel. The refinisher just sanded, and did nothing else to remove the black stains on the top of her piece. When it was complete, those stains were still there, just under a layer of urethane. I am so impressed with the success of using oxalic acid on this table. The worst of the stains are gone, and the final finish is gorgeous. Every time I watch one of these videos, I learn something new! Thank you so much for what you do!

So nice and i loved
Nice work for a great charity. Loved the bunny modeling your table, which turned out worthy of a whole truckload of carrots in my opinion. Thanks also for the tips. I've no experience with oxalic acid and never used an iron to level furniture gouges. Look forward to testing out the new techniques when I find the right piece that will benefit.
Good job, very nice, more carrots for the bunnies.
*Bravo pour la restauration👍*
It’s really beautiful now😊
