How to light your worship band with DIY COTM Dewey stand lamps

A great way to light the worship band is with a small lighting fixture close to each musician instead of using larger fixtures hanging from your light bar, and you can build your own Church on the Move style “Dewey” light for around $50. This DIY fixture originally designed by COTM holds a DWE 650W lamp and provides a nice yellow glow at a very low setting without washing out your stage.

I have built tons of these DIY par cans over the years. I use metal coffee cans. They are cheap and can handle the heat. When you buy coffee buy the whole metal cans.

I'm pretty sure that stovepipe adapter is made from basic sheet-metal, not aluminum. Instead of sealed beam bulb like the DWE 650W have you considered using a standard light fixture and one of the new dim-able LED lamps? You may need to use a colored gel to get the correct color, but it should produce less heat and consume less power (and theoretically last longer too).
just wondering, why not just get like a par 38?

For me, it's the color temperature of the DWE bulb at 10-20 percent looks fantastic. It's a nice, warm amber glow. I haven't tried it personally, but I would think that par 38 bulb would be harsher in comparison.
Just buy a par 38? or have a par 64 with floor stand brackets and then angle it towards the faces, still get that glow, no light fixture visible, safely constructed and wired, and not to mention: under £50 if ypu want you could even gel it with a L204 gel which will give you an even warmer feel at low level

How is the lamp wired? Did you purchase a fixture for the lamp to sit in?

The wiring is pretty simple. We have a cord with tabs at the end, and the tabs connect directly to the lamp. The lamp sits in a stove pipe reducer. The fixture is entirely home-made.

@@practicalworship thanks. I see also you have little metal pieces that keep the bulb in place (in front of the bulb). What are those made out of?

Those are just simple machine screws...
650W lamp is too hold and power consuming, LED is more practical and safer as they are usually low voltage DC and cool to touch. adding filtered can change the color tone.
