How to Light an Acetylene Torch

I only use the acetylene torch once every year or two, so I end up calling dad to get instructions on how to adjust everything for a proper flame. We had just cut a few holes in some thick metal and I wrote the instructions in my phone when I thought why not get my teacher (dad) to make a video on how he lights an acetylene torch?

What was the lighter thing he used to light the torch? And was he wearing regular sunglasses or safety glasses?

It is called a striker (it drags flint across a rough surface to create sparks). Those are safety sunglasses, one normally wears the small round torch googles. The fire is bright and requires protection, but it is not as bright as the light from electric welding.
