Safety tip: Always make sure the lid is opened FIRST before you turn on the propane valve. If not, you may be facing a fireball once the burners ignite.

Thank you! You'd think a new gas grill's instruction booklet would include "How to light" ;) I knew how to light our old grill but this didn't have the same mechanism.

That was so short and sweet I almost cried. Just what I needed cause I wasn't sure if I should open the lid while lighting. It made sense to open it just wasn't sure.

I'm thinking to much gas try turning the gas on a little bit make sure its capable of lighting then once its lit turn the gas up slowly until you have a satisfying flame :)

First time doing it manually and I didn't blow myself up. Thanks :P

Btw by "light" position he means the highest possible heat, as in "lighting up the grill"

Thanks for the video but it didn't help me today when I couldn't get the grill started. I solved the problem by replacing the AA battery in the ignition,. A new AA battery immediately solved my problem. Hope this helps some people out there!

I think I'm just a dumbass but I can't seem to get it to work... I also don't want to take any chances and accidentally blow myself up.

0:30 This method is more reliable (and safer). The click sparkers sometimes don't work especially if they are dirty with soot & grease.

New Gas Grill here. The ignition switch works, but only lights 1 burner. I tried leaving the next burner in line open all the way for a second or 2, but it did not light. Am I doing something wrong?

somethin's off with your grill...it should light the next one automatically...worse comes to worse, use a long lighter and get it

Don't close the valve while using the grill. But it's a safe practice to close the propane valve when the grill is not in use.

I should have looked at this yesterday. My husband usually grills but he decided he would not and I had our usual weeks worth of turkey breast tenderloins, grass fed burgers, and salmon, all ready to go. SO...I tried it myself. NO info from the little booklet that comes with our Charbroil grill. Just recipes. Go figure. I was stupid and wiped the grates with a little oil first. Then turned on ALL the burners. The ignitor button was not functioning. Used a long lighter, but put it right down near where the gas comes out inside the grill itself. POOOF! Huge fireball shoots out. Bad idea!!! I'm so thankful I wasn't burned and I still have my full head of hair, ha ha!

Some people were never taught or never cooked with one. A person is much smarter that they search out the information instead of winging it and potentially blowing themselves up.
