    Stephen and Andrew, I like the humor you have regarding the sell sheet. You bring my spirits up. I'm trying to find someone to help me with my product. Everyone is to busy working and they live far. I wanted to find someone just like Stephen said to do. Sad to say it's hard to find someone. I'm going to ask one more person. Hopefully he'll be free and interested in being my partner. I need help getting started. I have my sell sheet ready but it needs a little work. I'm grateful having you in my path. We're all blessed in having you two, share your education with all of us. Stay safe. Maggie

    Thank you for sharing this great info! When's the right time to present the sell sheet to potential licensees? Is it after they show some interest already and building some relationship with them? How much information should I disclose in the sell sheet before signing a NDA? I have a product idea that a few potential licensees already showed some interest after hearing my brief pitch and they requested further info. The core of my product idea is personalization of the product design in all different shapes for each client. In this case, how should I go about presenting the product/concept in the sell sheet?

    Hey guys, I truly appreciate what you guys are doing. I have one question though, now if i'm to hire graphic designer, marketer and develop a very interesting sell sheet then submit it to about 10 or more companies. The question now is, shouldn't i be worried that someone along the line is gonna steal my idea, please understand that i'm not paranoid about my ideas, i usually tell friends about them. I could have the graphic designer and the marketer sign NDA, but what about the firms that i'm submitting my sell sheets to? should I tell them through the phone to sign NDA then email/mail them the sell sheet? I understand Stephen Key is not a big fan of patents, but if you guys could integrate the NDA on your videos that would be very great. Thank you again, and I hope you guys could host an event in Philadelphia or anywhere in the east cost.

    +Mohammad Alenezi Hey Mohammad. Your concerns are understandable, but an important thing to remember is to look at it from the company's point of view - they don't want to sign an inventors' NDA because there's a (real) chance they are already working on a similar idea. More on protection here: www.inc.com/stephen-key/10-ways-to-protect-your-creativity.html. I hear this from CEOs who respect and love working with inventors. You need to be comfortable with how you've protected yourself before showing off your sell sheet - like with your PPA. I'd love to come to the East Coast. Thanks for watching. - Stephen

    Do you need patent search first before sell sheet?

  • @inventRight

    @inventRight

    8 жыл бұрын

    +jeffreyneil1 Yes, you should search for prior art - aka a patent search - before filing a sell sheet. It's a good way to study the market. Understanding what's been done before you lays out a road map, and will help you hone in on your idea's point of difference/uniqueness. You don't have to hire someone to search for you, though - you can teach yourself. More on that here: www.inc.com/stephen-key/5-crucial-things-to-understand-about-searching-for-prior-art.html. To be clear, many ideas are licensed without intellectual property though. So you could make a sell sheet without having searched. We think it's smart to teach yourself to search for prior art. Hope that helps!

    It could be, but unless your ability to do line-drawings is on par with a professional, you're better off hiring someone to help you. You can find freelancers to help you for very little on sites like Upwork. Make sure he/she signs a work-for-hire agreement that includes a non-disclosure component. Thanks for watching!
