It is worth crafting a few steel choping axes, and pickaxes in the mid to low 20's. the boost to gathering will far out weigh the loss of materials from failed crafts. being able to harvest wood and heartwood en mass for charcoal early will significantly speed up the smelting process for both weapon and armor smithing.

Please explain getting beyond the catch-22 scenario of obtaining a Forge but not having the ability to create a steel Anvil head. I don't get it. If I cannot forge steel, how can I create the forge to create steel?

Find someone you trust that has and trade with them to craft it for you if you have the mats

I dont get how you say "Wrought Iron Chopping Axe" after lvl 15. I am currently 15 and do not see it.

@@xungaming469 Yes, the issue was I didnt have the upgraded weapon smithing bench. So I got that and boom axes. Thanks for your thoughts!
