How to legally clean copper coins - Coin Care
Purchased a small lot of Canadian Copper Tokens, one was improperly cleaned and I decided to show how to properly clean a copper coin. Don't clean coins of value. After this video, I used the Coin Care Cleaner a second time and that is the thumbnail picture, it took about another 5 minutes to get that grime off. After cleaning this coin, it helped me identify the coin and did not affect the coins value.

I have a coin I found metal detecting in a RV Park at Sapphire, NC, The coin is copper, its smaller than a dime but the same thickness, I cannot read the coin even with a loop, or magnifying glass, there are imagines on the coin but faint. Is there anything I can do to this coin to discover its identity?

Legally ? Could you be arrested or fined
It might be oil, it might be wax, it might be shellac, it might be varnish. And there is the problem, you don't have any idea what it is. I use KIWI brand Boot Leather Conditioned, applied with a Power Plastic Brush. Is soaks in well to neutralize any Bronze Disease in microscopic surface fractures.
Citrus smell because of ascorbic acid in the oil? Lower PH than hydrochloric.....
Does NOT CLEANING YOUR COINS before sem sending them to get graded affect the grade? I have a 1917 and steel 1943 penny g good condition..... Please email me with info on that sending COINS to grade i also have ??? on others

Don’t clean your coins or you will ruin the value. I personally wouldn’t get the 1917 or 1943 Lincoln cents graded unless it’s in excellent condition or a Variety.
Did you just say you have cotton fibers now glued to the coin. OMG
Hi ...I am from India...can you please arrange for the chemical composition of the coin cleaner as I guess those are not available in India... Great video on legally cleaning coins... keep it up.

Use vinegar I used it on some of my quater Annas the coin was literally shining that too without any rubbing.

Next time try VERDI-CARE, it actually dissolves surface residue instead of just smearing it around.
Indian natural way to clean the copper coin is to apply tamarind directly , gently massage and wash with water. Coins looks fresh without any wear
LMAO I use a Power Brass Bush. And they all turn out very fine. Some times I even take a Power steel Bush to them. Some are so bad I have to use a Pocket Knife to cut off the pooptina.
Rock Solid wrong. Paper is not hard enough to scratch Copper. Even with Brass you have to apply a LOT! of pressure to maybe scratch Copper. Only thing paper is going to scratch off is dirt.

When I take off 90% of the patina on a Indian Head Penny I'm not trying to fool anybody. The Penny is clearly dated. It is right there to see how old it is and all the original scratches are there to. There is nothing fake about removing Oxidization and Dirt and Grime from a metal product. Are you by any chance driving around in a rust covered car LOL

You are so Wrong. That Coin is not suppose to look dark. When that coin was new and clean I guarantee you it was not the same color as poop.
