How To Leave Space. Blues Harmonica

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Leaving space? Less is more? Music is the space between the notes? All good and quaint phrases but HOW? Where? In this video we will explore some practical effective techniques using rhythm, counting and down beats for creating tension and power in your solos and ensemble work alike. We're using a Hohner Cross Over Harmonica in "A" here in the key of "E" Major. Check out the related videos linked below.

I needed this one. I've started to go to a lot more jam session and I find myself playing just a little too much with leaving space so thank you for this!

Space is the place. All or your videos are instructive and in the best possible sense,, challenging. This one is no different but its seeming simplicity made me smile. Love the slower playing which makes it immediately more accessible for me to learn new phrases/licks. Thank- you. BTW I was fortunate to see Sun Ra ( and his Solar Infinity Cosmo Jetset Arkestra) here in Cleveland in 1988, and saw his legacy Arkestra here a few years before Covid hit. Big love to you and everyone in the band. Stay safe out there.

“ music is made by the spaces between the notes.” I can’t remember who told me this or who the quote is credited to but it’s so true. Another one I like is “there are no wrong notes, only pleasing and dissonant ones”.
