How to Learn ARABIC (MSA) on Your Own- Fast

MSA or Modern Standard Arabic is the official dialect of Arabic used throughout the Arab World. MSA (also known as Fusha) is derived directly from the Quran, but it is also the language of contemporary news media, the academic world, and much of Arabic literature.
In this video, I’ll show you my favorite resources that can help you learn MSA in the way that suits you best- whether that’s through books, courses, videos or podcasts.

    كنت أدرس اللغة في الجامعة قبل عدة سنوات و للأسف لم انهي دراساتي. مع ذلك ما زلت مهتما بالعربية. عندي فيديو بالعربية في قناتي و أخيراً قررت أن أستمر مع اللغة. أستخدم قنوات عربية، افلام، جرائد الخ لتحسين مستواى اللغة. تحياتي من كرواتيا 🇭🇷

In fact, my dad said he would not think for a second you were anything but a native speaker. So your hard work’s paid off. Now it’s my turn to improve my skill. 😅

    Kareem is right, I would say it look several years to feel comfortable/fluent- and I'm definitely still learning.

    Currently at an advanced, functional but not fluent level where it’s just a matter of listening and reading and looking up and forgetting a bunch of words over and over again lol. Already use aljazeera, the Bible, the Quran (not a Muslim but it’s the foundation of fusha), and random informative KZread videos done in fusha but I will definitely try omer now since a lot of tv series have difficult to decipher audio quality Thank you Edit: also I recently bought a copy of Al-muqaddima by Ibn Khaldun and if you happen to see this comment I was wondering, Is it normal for historical books to have all the diacritics? Because if so that is extremely useful for someone leaning fusha for obvious reasons

    hello bod Regarding the formation of old books, this depends on the publishing house and its decision during the start of printing. I do not think that many printed books contain diacritics, but as you said, writing that contains diacritics encourages language learning Standard Arabic good luck to you

    for a. complete beginner, who is interested in both reading and writing Arabic, should s/he start from dialect first before moving to MSA? As most Arabs learn their dialects from their families, and MSA from schools. It shouldn't be the other way round?

  • @BrianWilesLanguages

    @BrianWilesLanguages

    If reading and writing is your primary goal, it’s probably wise to start with MSA. If making conversation is your primary goal, I’d recommend starting with a dialect.

  • @Had_a_Bipolar_gf

    Thank you, i will start from dialect first then, coz dialects have no case endings, so I guess I can work on the preferred dialect first for like maybe two years to build enough cognates, then move to MSA latter.@@BrianWilesLanguages
