How To: Late Frontside Shove It

Спорт

"How To" video number 10: The Late Frontside Shove It
This is a fun trick that may seem awkward at first but, once you get the hang of it, it's super fun. It's a good one to throw down in a game of SKATE! (Who's excited for BATB8? I know I am.)
ALSO, I'm aware that people do this trick in different ways. Some people use only their back foot to kick the board or only their front foot to pull it around and some people use both. This is just how I personally learned how to do them but, if you're having trouble, there may be other ways that work for you.
Thank you for watching! :)
P.S. Make sure you check out my 700 Subscribers Contest video for a chance to win a bunch of cool stuff! There is only a few more days left to enter.

I posted this as a reply to someone but if anyone is watching this video and having an issue where they are just doing a weird front shuv that doesn’t look right at all I might be able to help, and just in general for people looking for further tips. I found that the “late” feeling of an Ollie north is very similar to a late shuv oddly enough, and this trick is like a distant cousin. This trick is more of a timing thing than anything else, and a lot of people are try to kick the shuv when they pop instead of waiting that half second that is needed. What works for me is I set my feet up really square, front foot straight just under the bolts, and back foot straight in the middle of the tail more toward the bolts. When you pop, you need to be thinking Ollie, and then once you reach the peak then think about kicking your back foot out forwards. If you are being patient and waiting until after your pop to kick the board with your back foot, then it should start to do a late shuv that lands way in front of you. From here you gotta start to work in the front foot pulling motion, which mostly just helps prevent the board from flying in front of you. As for the timing of the trick, I find that the kick occurs right after the pop, but before the Ollie is completely leveled out - so you will often do rocket late shuvs and land on your tail. Also, it’s not really about kicking the board super hard, it feels like a really specific amount of force that just takes a lot of time to really tune into and get consistently. Sorry this is super long, but I learned this trick recently on my own before seeing this video so I think I can maybe provide a fresh perspective. Anyone I see try to learn it typically starts the same - doing a weird front shove that isn’t late, and that’s because they aren’t waiting until after the pop to kick the tail forward. Just try to remember Ollie pop then late kick, two separate motions. Hope this helps someone and if you can’t get it right away don’t worry it’s a pretty difficult trick due to the precise timing required

I've been trying these for quite some time. I've seen some tutorials on late fs shuvs, but yours is definitely the best! I've always had troubles with the landing and tweaked my foot positioning searching for the right feel. So far the heel pocket thing i figured out by myself, but the front foot position I'll try today. Hopefully it clicks, great video!

I did indeed land it. :D Tried to hang my front foot forward but that felt awkward and kept turning to a heelflip. The trick was to put it right in the middle so it doesn't flip either side, kick out hard with my back foot and push down hard with my front foot. Your tutorial helped with my front foot since I wasn't pushing down with it. Thanks a lot! c:

Coming in clutch six years later, but better than no reply at all! Okay, you possibly don't even skate anymore and/or have already learned both late shoves.. but, I would say yes.. and that's from personal experience. My BS shoves have always been easier and smoother, but when it came to learning LATE shoves the FS easily came first. 🙈

@@danfarrell8341 I know this comment is 1 year old, but if you see this then a grab motion to create the late shuvit would be called a (whatever type of grab it is) late shuv. So if you grabbed your nose and spun it late, it would be a “nosegrab late shuvit”
