    Liking all these tutorials you’re putting on lately. I hope to see some with thinner weight yarns too, it’ll be great to have a mixture of yarn weights, but still full garment tutorials like this. It’s a very easy tutorial, that anyone can follow. It’s a very cute jumper. 🧶

    I love, love , love , this You Tube video . I know how to knit but never knitted a sweater before just scarves for a couple of years. I have been looking for a pattern like this for the past 2 years, only to have wasted a lot time reviewing and buying knitting patterns that advertise that they are beginner or easy patterns and they are not !!!! I want to knit a lot and do not have the time , with this pattern and video I can knit to my heart's content. I cannot wait to see what yarns you have to sell, and what You-Tube videos will be posted next.

    Hi! I am loving this tutorial so much. Just have a little question because I am not doing this sweater with this wool or needle, how many cm is the front/back piece? 36 stitches equals to how many cm? If anyone can help with this info I'd be much appreciated :)

  • @agemoth

    @agemoth

    Measure one of your favourite jumpers, the width in inches or cm. Then you'll have to find out how many stitches to stitch with the yarn you're using for that width by doing a small test gauge swatch. Most gauge swatches are to 4 inches /10cm along and up square. So if 7 stitches makes 4 inches /10 cm across (width) in your yarn and needles, then you can work out how many more stitches would make say 50cm width. In this example it would be 35 stitches to cast on. The amount of rows up should not matter so much with this simple pattern.

    Little tip that I used quite a few times, you measure a jumper you already have and fits you, then you do a 10x10cm gauge swatch with the yarn you want to use for you future jumper. If the bust measurement of the previous cardigan is 85cm for example, I know that I casted on 12 stitches (for example), to achieve my 10x10cm gauge swatch. Then you can calculate the rest, but if I’m working on flat needles, I’ll add a few more stitches for seaming.

    Does anyone know if using a long tail cast on would work the same? Or is it super important to use this cast on method

  • @woolandthegang

    @woolandthegang

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hey! The long tail cast on can be used instead if you prefer it - however the first row after the long-tail cast on is a wrong side row, whereas the first row after the cable cast on is a right side row. This gives you the neatest finish!

    Nice video, thanks! I definitely will try this cast-on method.. is there a reason why we should prefer it? How many stitches should we cast on for a size 3 or 4? Just a little thing...by knitting the yarn is wrapped clockwise🔃 around the right needle, and not anti clockwise 😊😉 just thought it might be confusing for beginners. :) Thanks!
