How to Knit a Blanket - Step By Step
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
FREE Downloadable Pattern Book from Wool and the Gang: goo.gl/HvzFnY
We teamed up with our pals at Knit Aid to show you how to knit a basic blanket by sewing together knitted squares. This is super easy and also perfect for stash-busting and using up all those yarn leftovers.
In this tutorial we will go through how to:
Casting on: 00.48 - 02.51
How to do the basic knit stitch: 02.52 - 06.52
How to cast off: 06.53 - 09.21
Sewing your squares together: 09.22 - 11.56
Weaving in your ends: 11.57 - 12.29
The colours of Crazy Sexy Wool used in the blanket are the following: Rocky Grey, Tweed Grey, Eagle Grey, Sand Trooper Beige, Pink Lemonade, Ivory White and Purple Haze.
You can make approximately 3 squares out of each colour, the blanket in our video is 5 squares by 7 squares, for a total of 35 squares. To make a blanket this size you will need approx. 12 balls. Our squares are: 20cm x 20cm / 7.5in x 7.5in

I just started learning after Christmas. I made my mom some scarves and a shawl; she has cancer and the cold impacted her terribly. But now she would like a blanket, and I don’t know a good yarn that would hold up well for a blanket that isn’t super expensive; I’m ill and money’s tight. I want to do this for her, and to do it well, but... dang. And there aren’t knitting groups in my area to give me advice, and even if there were, they aren’t meeting now.

This video is so clear and concise. I basically knew how to do all of this but I never have sewn the squares together before so that was interesting to watch. I think it's amazing that you'd use your gifts and talents to help those who are in such dire need. It's wonderful. I cannot imagine what it must feel like to be living in Aleppo and being displaced and cold and scared. I would gladly take someone in and make them feel at home. Thank you for being so kind. Your voice is so soothing, I watched this video like 15 times just for your voice since I already got the knitting down
Years ago this video inspired me to learn to knit. I got the yarn and the rosewood knitting needles and watched this tutorial many times trying to get coordinated enough to knit. I made a scarf. Been knitting ever since.
Loved it we my knitting group have made now 40 blankets & now on next 40 have wrapped them up & have found a great Animal charity that helps give unwanted animals in Romania a warm bed & food.Next load of blankets going to anther Animal charity that are helping Animals caught in war torn countries raised £346.87 with a beanie sale sending to charity's in Syria that help animals there including the amazing cat guy.Thank You again as found so many animal charities that need warm blankets,also doing beanies for all the homeless family's in the UK as 1,000's are sleeping in cars no food or worse in the streets so helping a charity's that help get our homeless family's off the streets out there is a frost heart breaking to think of all kids in the UK that are out there now & the homeless ex forces so thank you for inspiring us to help those both animal & human that need love & warmth.

good for you, but may I ask why you chose animal rescue over humans?
@eeveenings16
3 жыл бұрын
@@angelabacker1177 i 100% understand where you're coming from, but if you think about it, more people donate to humans rather than animals. although it is great to donate to humans, I'm sure that the animals barely get 1/4 of the charity they get, correct me if I'm wrong (:
This tutorial is so good. The big needles and yarn made it easy to see, and the narration made it easy to follow. I'm planning to learn how to knit and this has helped me understand the most of the videos I've seen.
That's so sweet of you to donate blankets! We need more people in the world with a heart like yours

Never tried knitting before but really wanted to start, what a great tutorial. Also it's so strangely satisfying, like the little click of the needles and the shuffle of wool... Sounds like a great anxiety coping skill.
Thanks heaps for the easy tutorial. I'm practicing making, what my kid's call "anxiety blanket's" I've been using spaghetti yarn, it's really heavy & hard to fit all the stitches on my needles. I'd forgotten the basics again. The squares are the perfect solution.

everything you need in one video, how delightful! x

It's really informative and helped me get the squares the right size (I've only done 1 so far) and it's really easy to do because I'm making a blanket for someone I know who's had a baby
My question is How the heck do you fit the yarn through that needle? 😂
@anunohmouse7460
5 жыл бұрын
You can use a needle threader... then you can break it like I did lol. Then you can try the fold technique like Chin Yin says, this one normally does it well and your woes end there... or you can be like me and give up on those methods, soak the end of your yarn in spit, flatten it out and push it through the needle head. I need to invest in some slightly bigger needles lol

A Nun Oh Mouse i take a piece of thread or thin yarn that i can easily fit through the eye, thread that so both ends are sticking out one end and the middle is sticking out the other, making a loop. then make the loop as big as you need it to fit the yarn through, and when you do, pull on both ends of the thread and it pulls the yarn right through too. i broke a few needle threaders too before finding this out and i hope it helps!
