SOOOO, I am letting you know that since this video release I've done a Part 2 of the video to show how to do the eyelet row :-) Find that at: How to Knit Simple Crescent Shawl [Part 2] Two Yarn Over Eyelet Row • How to Knit Simple Cre...

Oh my goodness! I can’t believe I can do this! WooHoo! I learned how to knit about a year ago but only knit and purl. I was so afraid to do something different. You, Marley Byrd, are an amazing teacher. Thank you so much for making this easy.
Marley your the BEST I just spent 2 months in a nursing home because of a knee replacement and rehab. You taught me to knit! Whoop whoop. Love you!! Going to make this shawl now. Need a color I can wear with any color for church and such. Thanks doll!!!
Adding the stitch markers is so helpful. Thank you!
Marly you are the best. I learned to knit/crochet back in 1962 but was never really good at knitting. Watching your videos has encouraged me. I made your Absolutely Simple knit hat you did a few weeks ago and it came out great now I’m going to try this pattern too thanks again.
Your demos are great Marley! Thanks for all you do! ❤️
I love the way you teach the pattern and the different stitches required. I always feel more confident after viewing your videos. Thank you.

Thank you for the compliment!
This is the best that I've seen a kfb stitch taught! You show it clearly and precisely, and slow enough for people to actually knit along with you. The yarn over, and use of markers is shown really well also. Great video! 😉
Have not knit in years never been very good at it honestly find crocheting much easier especially when error is made lol. But retired now for about 5 years actually bought knitting needles a few years ago but have never tried to do it again but watching your video you make it look easy going to try. Thank you for encouragement.
Great tutorial! I really appreciate how you show both Continental and English methods. Although I know both as I learned English first I prefer Continental. Thanks!
You give wonderfully clear instructions without speaking too fast and have a nice voice which you inherited!
Absolutely love this video. I found Hop Scotch at Michaels back in July. Have always hated triangle shawls. Thanks to you and Barbara Benson i can now learn all the Crescent Shapes my heart desires. Thanks so much for showing us. Love them. Your are great as a instructor. The Hop Scotch feels nice as well. Now I can start my favorite shape of shawls and this will be my first. You did a great job of teaching this as always. Thanks again.
Thanks for showing how to do the stretchy bind-off!
I just got my first real set of interchangeable needles (chiaogoo) and I know only K and P stitches. I am easily board so I love KZread tutorials, I am finishing my first sock (on dpn) thanks to it. Unwanted to knit some kind of a shawl, not to hard but challenging enough that t would keep my attention. Thank you so much for this video, it's just what I was looking for!
Thanks for the video, looking forward to checking out the new yarn!
I love your enthusiasm! And of course your tutorials! :)
Marly you are such a huge help. Thank you!

You are a natural.. love to watch. My only request is that I wish you would show the full piece finished, because sometimes the picture that’s on the yarn doesn’t show the details.
Hmmm, very intricate! But I'm gonna try making it!
despite my "super " comment this was an excellent presentation the visual with the "talking window and constant clear closeup of work in progress is 2 thumbs up ...a like and a subscription because I would like to see more ...it would have been nice to see the actual finished project ...some of us want everything ... ;-)
All the snobs with the big cup of tea and the cat and the dog knit such a shawl with a lace finish at the end - but they did not tell us the secret - I want to thank you for sharing the secret with us - actually you are the first one of showing us the shape of half-moon knitting.- I've been waiting for it for so long - especially those who do not speak English as a native language -To others it seems trivial - but when there is a good explanation all the problems of understanding are solved - thank you very much from the bottom of my heart

Yes they do. It's called a pattern...
Ohhh your nails are so pretty :)
Darn! The pattern and yarn aren't on the RedHeart website yet. Also Marly you have grown into a wonderful teacher!
I'm knitting this shawl from the instructions on the band ball. They suggest that the first stitch of every row be knit, slipped back to the left needle, and knit again. In other words, knit the first stitch of each row twice. I checked out the instructions online and Red Heart does include this step in their instructions under NOTES. I like the extra stretch this gives the edge of the shawl now that I've knitted about 6 inches worth of fabric. Would you consider suggesting this extra step? And I agree -- this shawl pattern and yarn is awesome!
Thank you 💕

Thank you! Cheers!
Cute stitch markers.
when i downloaded this pattern it had a Notes- about the edging to make it more stretchy, i didn't see you doing in the video. wandering if this would make a difference. I may frog what i have done and start over. love your video's.
Thank you so much for the video and the pattern. Question though. What side do we end on before the end repeat rows?
Vous expliquer très bien et sloly
Love your videos! I have a question I am making a feather and fan stitch shawl right now and am wondering if there is a certain way to bind off or does the loose bind off work?
thanks great
Love your videos!!....Where could I purchase these stitch markers? They look like they wouldn’t snag my yarn.
Love this video Thank you Marly. I have a question??? Can you also ** show the finished project**?? I love to see how different variations work up. Also what yarn is equivalent in looks to Hopscotch??
Hi Marly, Love your instructions. I am a beginner and I had no trouble, thus far but I am having a problem understanding the (knitting once into each 2yo and dropping extra wrap. I see I am not alone in this. Also, would love to learn how you made your markers. I have the store-bought but don't seem as good as yours.

How to Knit Simple Crescent Shawl [Part 2] Two Yarn Over Eyelet Row kzread.info/dash/bejne/h3WbmbOwirOugag.html
Marly, can you use this book on cuffs of socks as well? Thanks
Marly, what are your thoughts on using DK weight yarn with a size 5 or 6 needle?
That knit-yarn over-knit is interesting. Aside from being a double increase, does it end up looking any different from just a yarn over?
Where did you get your stitch markers? I have a friend looking for markers like that.
Can the bind off used in this shawl be good for toe up socks?
Hola , no sé si hablaras español , pero te digo siempre , y quiero hacer este chal , y mi pregunta es , si se repite la misma frecuencia siempre , asta alcanzar el largo deseado . Muchas gracias
I love this pattern! I only wish you had shown the whole shawl laid out upon completion so we could see what thevfinished item looks like. The way it is shown on the model you honestly can't tell what shape it is or what it looks like with the eyelet edge 🤷♀️ I'm still going to make it though 😉
Looks interesting. Do you think I could add brioche in the middle of the shawl? Or would that be complicated?
Where can I find the markers that you had use in this video, they are really nice!
If I want stretch at the edges I use a larger size needle for cast on and bind off.
Oh no, not yet another how-to knitting video… But wait, there’s more… Your teaching technique is SO casual, comfy and chatty, I feel like I’m sitting across the knitting table from you at my fave LYS. All that’s missing are the coffee, doughnuts and the shop cat on my lap. As this is my perfect learning environment, I subscribed. I’ll be back for more.

You can turn it off
Couldn't see the whole shawl. I'm not sure if the increases and decreases were shown. At the end of the video I saw a small 1 inch swatch which didn't show the pattern clearly.
Love this pattern! I have a question for you: would fingering type yarn work with this?
@kyleyee5963
3 жыл бұрын
I know any yarn would work. You will simply need to adjust needle size and you would have to perhaps add more rows. Some lightweight yarns still hold up well on larger than called fir needles. I have tried sock weight on number US#7 but I prefer a tighter fabric so I went down to 6, 5,4 and have made several. I added more rows to make the shawl is he length I like. They really can keep your neck and shoulders warm.
Does this work with thinner yarn, a 3 instead of a 4 type yarn?
The link for Hopscotch yard does not work. The pattern says 2 skeins but what is the yardage of each?
You really explain things well in your tutorials. I just have a question as to what is the best way you would add your second skein of yarn to this project. Do you do it on the edge or in the middle?
@MarlyBird

At the edge.
Problem! Red heart website won’t download this pattern. Nothing happens. Have tried multiple times. Please help!! Really want to knit this.
I have a small mountain of handspun. This will take care of that.
would like to have seen the completed project to have an idea of the laid flat shape of the shawl and an idea of the size of the finished object ...video very clear thank you

Hi there :) I think there is a flat image on the actual pattern.
can this be done in crochet?
Nice easy shawl pattern. Question, why don't you wear a sample of the shawl on the video?
Could you please do to eyelet rows. Im a beginner knitter and getting stuck on those rows. Thank you for all the hard work you put into this tutorials. They are great. 👏
