Fingerless gloves are quick.way to knit them using straight needles. The yarn chosen is of weight 4 on needle size US size 8.
The patterns chosen are simply using stockinette and rib. The rib stitch creates the starting and ending portions of the gloves. The video shows the knitting for an average woman.
*STEPS*
Cast on 36 stitches for an average woman
CUFF (rib design)
Row 1: k2, p2 till end of row
Row 2: p2, k2 till end of row
- Repeat till rib measures 3"
PALM
Row 1: k9, increase st by 1, k9, increase st by 1, keep repeating till end of row
- should have 40 stitches
Row 2: purl till end of row
Row 3: knit till end or row
Row 4: purl till end or row
INTRODUCE THUMB
Row 1: k18, PM, kfb, k2, kfb, PM, k18
Row 2: purl till end of row
Row 3: knit till end of row
Row 4: purl till end of row
Row 5: k18, PM, kfb, k4, kfb, PM, k18 (8 sts in the middle)
Row 6: purl till end or row
Row 7: k18, PM, kfb, k6, kfb, PM, k18 (10 sts in the middle)
Row 8: purl till end of row
-Repeat above pattern till you have 14 stitches between place markers (PM)
Row 13: k18 till PM, move those 18 to stitch marker, k14 sts between PM, move the remaining 18 sts to stitch marker without knitting them
- you are going to work on the thumb
Row 14: p14
Row 15: k14
Row 16-19: do rib design of k2,p2
Row 20: bind off
KNIT FINGER PORTION
-move one of the stich marker stiches onto the needle and introduce yarn again
Row 1: purl all
Row 2: knit all
Row 3-6: do rib design of k2, p2
Row 7: bind off
- Repeat Rows 1-7 for the other 18 sts on the other stitch marker
SEW THE OUTSIDE EDGES
Repeat above steps for the second glove
