Brilliant, just came across this video from 3 years ago but wow 🤯 this is exactly what I needed to learn. Thank you so much 😊
Girl you gone have me knitting til my fingers fall off. 😂I love all your sock patterns ❤️ I’m making socks as Christmas gifts 🎁 for my hubs and sons. Thanks for another great tutorial.

Thank you so much!!! ❤️❤️ That truly makes my day to know people love my patterns and think them gift-worthy!!!
Found your videos and I am hooked. Love your teaching method and you have inspired me to keep knitting fair isle socks. Also ordered the tiny circs. Take care and can’t wait for next new video.
I do the opposite: hold my main color on the left and contrasting color on the right. It enables me to control my tension on the constrasting pattern more easily and I don't have to keep picking up and rearranging the ball of yarn. It makes the work go faster.
Love your sock patterns, the colors, and especially the way you knit! Thank you for making it so simple to follow! I’ve always found colorwork scary, but now I’m going to dive in!!!
Thanks for the tips! I just started knitting your “little boxes socks” and should have looked for this video before! Your tips make it easier to continue. 😁
OMG! Your video helped me finally understand how to catch floats! Thank you so much. Now my options in knitting have truly opened up.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS!! 😭👏😍 I started my first set of color work socks a few days ago and have been searching the internet for help. You are the best, can’t wait to give your patterns a try :)
Wow, what great information. I'm knitting my first pair of socks and I want to become a great sock designer. What a great start I am off to thanks to you and your video. Thank you so much! Of course, I just subscribed to your channel. I look forward to seeing more from you.
I loved your video and want to try those tiny circular needles. All the other info was great too. I have done much color work yet but have made lots of socks.
WOW! your socks colors so beautiful.
Thank you so much for this video! These designs are beautiful :)
Very helpful video, simple explanation for first time colourwork.
These videos are SO helpful!!! I’ve been scared of knitting colorwork due to my tight gauge! I’m hoping I can kick some butt on some colorwork socks now!
Thanks for sharing this. You're a genius!
Just bought the pattern set!!! Yay!!!
Gosh, I could have really used this tutorial earlier this week. I had to undo my color work socks on 9" circulars because they were super puckered up and I just assumed I was using the wrong type of needle! Thank you for the help :)
Great tutorial, subscribed for more helpful information & tips !!
Summer, thank you for sharing your brilliant designs with all of us. I was immediately drawn to your patterns bc of the bright colors. Bright and soft socks literally make me swoon. Talk about love at first sight. I am a perfectionist so once I get started on your patterns, I know it will take me a year or longer to perfect them. This means, making lots of mistakes so I can do it over and over. One thing that interests me, and which you sort of touched on in your video when you were discussing using english style knitting in conjunction with tiny circulars: how long does it take you to knit a typical pair of your color work socks? Im sure its a little different depending on the particular pattern so, lets say, the Tiny Dots Socks in your specific size? Thank you again, Summer, for sharing your time and knowledge. ❤
This is so helpful. Thank you. 🙏🏻❤️

I’m so glad!! ❤️❤️
To think that for a whole cardigan I caught my longer floats by twisting my skeins of yarn! This method looks so much simpler!
I have been looking everywhere for a video like this 🙏🫣😇 Thank you so much❤ But I was wondering (I am new to knitting) do you have a video how to start the contrast yarn 😅 I can't seem to figure it out 😱🤔
This set is soooo gorgeous

@@summerleedesignco.6471 I have a beginner question. In watching this video, how did you cast on, blue only? When and how did you introduce the green? Ready to begin color work via your demonstration, but not certain of how to begin. Once begun, I will be able to continue. Thank you!
Looks like you did this some time ago, but here I am searching for help after five attempts to knit colour socks with floats. I tried altering my stitch count and needle sizes but still I can’t get the sock over my heel 😱. My floats do not look tight and I can pick them up as you show. The only thing I haven’t tried is a small circular. So that’s my next try out. I am determined to get this sorted. Thank you for your advice in this video. Your knitting looks excellent 🧶🌺❤️
Great video. Thanks for the tips, can’t wait to get started! Quick question: do you cast on more stitches when doing colour work?
Thank you for this. It is very helpful for knitting colorwork sleeves, as well. My one question (what brought me here) is if you catch floats in the same spot over and over- doesn’t the color eventually show through on the right side? I was always cautioned not to do that in colorwork, but I also haven’t seen an alternative to that nor can I think of a different or better way to do that in magic loop. Thanks
I wish I had seen this video a few months ago! I've slowly been knitting this pair of socks with colorwork hearts at the top (for my boyfriend), and because I normally knit rather tightly the colorwork part came out even tighter. Thankfully I would sometimes have him try it on while I was knitting, and I found out that it was very difficult to get it over his heel, and after washing it would most likely get even tighter. My friend who also knits helped by lending me some circular needles that are a bit bigger (I knit with 2,5mm DPNs and the ones I borrowed from her are 3mm circulars) so I had to unravel a big portion and do the colorwork again with the bigger needles. I probably would have avoided this if I watched this video first.
When’s your next podcast coming? I’m sure you’re super busy with holidays and family so no pressure 😊 I definitely look forward to those episodes!!

Definitely in the New Year! I’ve been working on some projects, but I’ll definitely be back at podcasting!
Hello- do you do your heel at the end? What type of heel is it called and would you happen to have a video on it? Thank you! Love your videos!
Thanks for the great video. What if the float is in the yarn on your right (the blue)? Would the float catching technique at the end of the Magic Loop needle change? Thanks again!
Hi Summer, thank you for posting such a helpful video! I wanted to ask for some clarification: you mention in this video that you go up a needle size to a US2 (2.75) for color work. Is that only for when you switch to color work for magic loop? In your podcast video you talk about how the addi mini circs US 1 is actually more of a US 1.5 because it measures as 2.5mm. So do you recommend using a US 1.5 (2.5mm) or a US 2 (2.75mm) needle for color work, or is the difference negligible?
Hi. I nit conential, but not the way you did. I have the main colour over the left indexfinger, but the tread goes the other way over the finger than you had. My left finger touches the left needle. The other colour can also be over the left index finger, and I pick the right one to knit or it can be in the right hand, and I cast it when needed.
Great tutorial! Very helpful. I'm wondering, is there a way to avoid "jog" in a fair isle sock?

yes, I think Meg Swanson mentions this in one of her books , there are tutorials online as well.
I know when crocheting colorwork a good trick is to make sure you drop your yarn on the same side after your done with it. It keeps everything from getting all twisted up. I’d imagine it’s the same for knitting 🧶

Yes!! Same for knitting!
Did you sew the threads into the beautiful sneaker socks or knit them in?
Do you have a tutorial how to avoid jogs when knitting with 2/ 3 colours.
Do you have a pattern that starts at the toes and works the color work up the sock?
Hi. I'm from germany and need Help for colorwork socks🙈 i tryed so often but it is always to straight and doesn't fit. Your Video is very helpful for me to understand😍😍😍 but is there a rule how man stitches i have to insrease if i want to use the same needle Size?? And sorry for my englisch 😅 Janine
I knit continental would I keep my main color on the left instead of the right?
I knit left-handed - self taught so often I wing it…However:. Would I reverse where I put my main color and contrast? (As in main to the left)
Did you ever make argyle socks?
what types of yarns/brands did you use in this video tutorial?
Where do you find your Addi sock needle?
I enjoyed your video. Could you please tell me the needle size in milemeters. Thank you.

US 1 = 2.25mm, US 2 = 2.75mm
Are the socks sturdy enough if knit on a size 2 needle? I usually use 1 or 0 to avoid them wearing outso quickly...

I feel like since the colorwork makes the sock thicker (since you’re holding another strand behind) it would be about as resilient☺️
Apparently 'lice' as in the stitch is pronounced 'leese' which makes it a little better name for a pretty pattern.
Dommage qu'il n'y ai pas la traduction
How does your ribbing look so gorgeous 😅😅
