    Very nice and compact video that covers it all! Only thing I'd add: It was very helpful for me to learn a transition jump first. The backloops pull you quite a bit against your jumping direction so you might get turned sideways and land with a mean backedge :P

    Hi, thank you for the advices, great video! But I always wonder in which direction I have to do the loop. If I prefer to jump with my right foot in front and landing with my right foot in front as well, should I thus loop the kite to the right(front hand) or to the left (back hand)? The same question goes for the downloop 🙃 Thank you!!!😇

    I always thought the same.. How high do you jump? At some point my woo measured 9.5+ meters. That was the point I started to do heliloops automatically. Do you have the pendulum-effect yet when coming down? It only happens above some specific height (kite and jump technique dependent). When you're still in the air while the kite will go too far behind/above you, you'll automatically pull the kite forward in one direction to keep it from doing a fronstall. And boom, that's your first heliloop!

    Well, @Niko Koopmann, there is so much subconscious movements that expert perform without even themselves knowing, that makes such videos a good reference, but certainly not sufficient. I really like this video, especially the part where Sam suggest's trying the kite loop in the water start position. I haven't thought about this before, and it seems the safest way to go about it.

  • @madsteeez

    @madsteeez

    @@OutForIt I can do heli loops by now😀. The key for me was to jump high and then push in the bar a bit to swing under the kite enough. And then aim for a straight fast downwind landing and just bring the kite back in front of you with a smooth loop 🤗.

    depends strongly on your kite, kite-size, radius of loop and how early you pull that loop. But even if you not want to do an heli-loop, if your kite reaching the Zenit during the jump or during downwind landing, you have to steer it extremely firm down or you will loose line-tension and your kite can fall out of the sky. You have to steer so firmly that I found it easier to just do an second Loop but because you travel so much downwind it doesnt have much pull and its realy soft.

    Does line lenght matter while learning? I always ride 24m lines

  • @Habixus

    @Habixus

    3 жыл бұрын

    Longer lines = easier to loop safely! The shorter the lines, the higher the difference of angles. If your loop is always 5m radius, having very short lines means the loop will go from 12 o'clock through the powerzone, while having very long lines means the loop will just be a little circle at 12 o'clock. These amazing shots you'll see with the kite going beneath the kiter in the air are all done with 12-18m lines! But very easy to crash hard!

  • @ufoufo2000

    @ufoufo2000

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@Habixus not totally true, shorter lines have the benefit of the kite not having to travel as far to catch you. ie you'll get the lift from the kite earlier after the loop and wont crash to the water

    But using this "toilet Position" is just for learning right? Most rider I have seen get straighten out in some kind of superman position, which looks and feels much cooler. But with that, I sometimes have an issue with "tangling legs" . Any tips to avoid that?

  • @SamLight

    @SamLight

    i don't think the toilet position is just for learning, its just a more stable position, some riders let their legs go behind to make it look more dramatic

    Hey Sam. Great video! I have a question. I was looping my 10m pivot recently like a maniac. Not too big loops more like 5m high on my pivot in 20-25knots. It was going great i was landing downwind everytime with lot of speed. Until last Monday i looped it and somehow got thrown off axis. I was flying sideways very hard towards water and i crashed hard too it all to my ribs. Luckily i had impact vest but the ribs even not broken are still badly bruised. While im healing im wondering what happened and how to prevent it in the future. I want to keep looping but i cant be pulled off axis like this again cos im scared ill break myself more. Suggestions? I am trying to have good upwind takeoff not go too high yet. Im trying to tense up abs. Maybe that loop was a bit sloppy but until i pulled it it felt okay. How to prevent loosing stability at all cost?

  • @johnnykhawand

    @johnnykhawand

    3 жыл бұрын

    I don't think there is a way to avoid crashes from time to time with or without loops, safest way for crashing should be that you let the board off and land legs first then butt. Going upper body first other than painful for the ribs you might also dislocate your shoulder if your arm goes into the water first.

    I have the same issue some times. Does it twist you in the frontroll or backroll direction? I have the suspicion that is may cause by steering the Kite to far beyond 12, so the kite loops more sideways and the pull align the Boday sideways to.

  • @pontap90

    @pontap90

    Be comfortable jumping and landing at high speed. Perhaps try heli loops first 😊 Another thing that people don't mention in tutorials is that you should try to jump with the kite straight above your head before pulling the loop. So try to avoid steering the kite far past 12 sice this will force the kite to go really deep in the wind window.
