Keeping your gear dry is very important and there are some different ways of doing it. The traditional way to keep your gear dry is by using drybags...a lot of drybags plus a rain cover! But, there are lighter and better options out there that will keep your gear dry, no matter what.

Nice video, Robert. I use a cuben fiber pack with cuben fiber pods 4 in total, from Hyperlite Mountain Gear. And it works very good. And light weight.

Thanks 🙂 and yea, that’s something I didn’t talk about but also a great solution 👍🏻 I am thinking of getting a pod for my food to put over the liner. A DCF for that would be perfect!

I use a Cuben fiber backpack which is basically waterproof. Inside is either a Cuben fiber liner or a Trash Compactor bag. Sometimes even a heavy duty yard trash bag. After the 1st night the wet item ( the hammocks rain fly ) is packed in the front pocket and not inside the bag. Only dry items are inside the backpack. The quilt is inside a dry bag in the bottom of the pack. The hammock , food bag and rest are packed on top of that.

A very good and reliable system you have there Chuck 👍🏻 I would say a little bit of an overkill maybe to have the quilt in a drybag, inside the liner…but then you know for sure that it is dry!! I also have the tent on the outside, I think it is the way to go 👍🏻

@@roberthammenrudh The quilt and anything that has to stay dry is packed inside the cuben fiber liner. Sort of a belt and suspenders style when keeping your pants up. One thing I can be guaranteed of when camping .. It will Rain and usually a hard rain and more then one.

You are right and I understand it gives a better level of security so you know everything is dry when reaching camp. And it WILL rain for sure, just a matter on when rather then if 🤷🏼‍♂️😄 🌧

Great video! But instead of traditional liners, would love to see video about sleeping liners if you've had experience with that kind of equipment in your bag. Cheers!

Hi and thanks 🙂 well yes. A liner in your sleeping bag or quilt is sometimes a good way of increasing the comfort level but I have no experience using one. I use down jacket and down pants instead and that works fine, plus you the possibility to use them around camp, and not only when sleeping.

Yeah, I'd be interested in this as well. Some say that sleeping bag liners increase the warmth, but the information there seems pretty lacking.

Backpack coverfrom Bergans is 60 g. That will cover the side pockets which the liner won't. Interesting topic though! 👍

Thanks and That’s a good choice then if you feel the need for it, for sure. In the side pockets I don’t have any sensitive gear but maybe others will 🤔 so if, then a rain cover is off course a good idea.

Hej Simon, den rullen har jag för mig jag köpte på ICA för ett eller två år sedan. Men finns ju lite varstans och säkerligen på våra olika byggkedjor också.
