Dan, your content is so accessible, empowering and reassuring. Makes me want to express positive profanity. I sprinkled quite a few 'f-yeh' mental responses throughout your representation. Thank you. ✨

👍I need to focus on the substance and who I am, or who I believe myself to be, to alleviate the pressure I put on myself to always be perfect in other people's eyes or always thinking I need the exact words to say to people. Thanks Dan !😃

@@TheWizardOfWords I am subscribed. I will look into becoming a member of your channel. I am interested in purchasing your material. All day I kept thinking about the fact that I am jumping out of my window to get on to my roof. I'm also now down to two weeks left on my current job . On Sunday night's I'm always full of anxiety and fear about starting the work week. You know, In the beginning of the year I actually went HR about my boss and I found my HR to be very kind and supportive of me and U knew the HR valued me as an employee and they said they wanted to make me happy and they didn't want to see me quit. It was a very great experience and because HR was so good to me I decided I could finish out the year . Although my boss did make my life a living hell. For a while my boss got better, HR must have talked to me boss. But after some months went by my bosses behavior started again . Humiliating me in front of my peers in meetings and humiliating me in front of the students in the classroom! I work as a para professional in a self contained classroom. The HR department treated me with respect and they were so nice and they encouraged me to recertify my expired science teaching license and apply for a teaching job in the district. HR reached out to me in an email and Sarah there is an opening at the middle school and they said I COULD apply for it. I found that very encouraging. But I'm so traumatised that I'm afraid to apply for the job . I'm afraid of it not working out. I feel like I have PTSD from this boss. I just thought I would mention that I had a good experience reporting my boss to HR and thought I would share that HR was so kind to me and encouraged me to apply for a BETTER position in the district. Maybe you could share this with other people because going to HR about my boss ended up bring a great thing. Which is the opposite of what we think about when we go to HR. I will become a member of your channel. Thanks for your videos! 😁

I have become exceptional at remembering names. I repeat it to them over our convo. I deal with over 100 different people at my work every day. This has come with age, becaue i hate when i have known someone for years and they cant remember my name or even that we have met before

There is a woman in our group that gets worked up when decisions are made that she doesn't like. She might get upset even if she agrees but feels left out of the decision making process. She has rejection/abandonment issues and we are considerate about that without catering to her. So every so often she will lasting verbally. It starts as an emotional "venting" but escalates to name calling, accusations and bringing up her views of past events (never having said anything about it at the time) which put people in a bad light. Of course, the person can't respond because time has passed and they may not even recall the incident. I have confronted her after one of these episodes, and she was tearful and remorseful. Yet it has happened repeatedly, just not in my presence. My question is, how can we interrupt this pattern when we see it happening? What can we say, in a loving way, without causing her to feel more rejection, but also send a clear message that this behaviour must immediately stop. We have new people sometimes and it could be very harmful for them to see this behaviour, especially if it goes unchecked.

I would take her aside and say everything you just said to me. Highlight the fact that when she brings up past incidents, you will interrupt and ask her to stop. Make it clear what will and will not be tolerated--e.g. when she starts to name-call, you will interrupt and ask her to stop. When she makes accusations, you will interrupt and ask her to stop. Tell her that her suggestions are welcome--always--but if they are not taken, she must react the way everyone present should react--with acceptance. That is not being unloving. It is being direct. This woman's feelings can't be allowed to hold you and your team hostage, and it appears to me that is what is happening at the moment. Being direct is NOT being unkind. It is actually kind to set expectations and boundaries, so that everyone knows what is expected of them, especially in the workplace.

Sometimes, when a name I hear, that to me resembles a Hungarian word, I'll have an easy time remembering their name. For instance, I had a hard time registering the name Lance, until I noticed that name is similar to the hungarian word - lánc (meaning chain, link), so from that point forward his name stuck. So when I notice names that remind me of a hungarian word, it really helps me to remember.

Hi Dan, I really find communication skills you share and powerful words and phrases you share to deal with various situations. I had a question though if using power words and phrases many times just to define even boundary can lead to long term not so good relations at work. What are your views on it?

This might be construed as rude and sorry if I'm prying but do you have a natural sing songy voice? I do too; are you heterosexual? This part of myself makes me self conscious as a straight man and you do a good job of not inflecting at a high pitch and shifting to professional cadence. You sound amazing and charismatic by the way but trying to grapple with my own stuff on this.
