Keeping a cat off a counter. One of the mysteries of the universe.

Maybe buy him a cat water fountain. More $ and maintenance but worth a try. Germs can be managed. I would be most concerned about the stove.

@@cataylor4251 my cat accidentally turned the stove on as a kitten and singed his fur and whiskers. He doesn't go near the stove anymore. Making the carrier a normal part of everyday is such a good habit since you never know when you might need the cat to go in the carrier all of a sudden. The points about reduced stress level is absolutely true! Kitty seems perfectly content.

I definitely agree! Espeically being with my cat, whenver we have to take her to the vet she gets very stressed inside the carrier because she goes inside very rarely
Taz is such an intelligent, curious and cooperative cat. A. pleasure to watch. And I really appreciate your sensible and responsible way of handling him. Well done.
I just love how after finding Taz you started casually making cat videos 😂 sending love from Greece
He's such a clever kitty! As a fellow cat owner I agree that getting the cat used to the carrier is a good thing, thanks to that the kitty is way less stressed
I'm sure somewhere on CatTube Taz has uploaded a video where he explains how he gets his pet human to clean the house for him while he sits and watches TV.

This routine of you & him, working as a team seems perfect. As long as kitchen is organised and nothing dangerous lying around. Be sure to train him wearing vest on a leash out walking. We’re expecting to see adventures with him in tow. He’s already perfectly happy to travel in his carrier. He’s the cutest of cute. Taz the handsome boy.

Love hearing Taz purr coming out of his carrier. I wish my cat was happy in his carrier. My kitty doesn't get on the counters, though. Never. I don't think it occurs to him. He's 4 now, and I don't recall how I taught him. Something went right! 😸
You should go hike with him it would be fun
such a good kitty! its good to know you are treating them well. I never liked cats and I still don't, but I adopted a rescue a few months ago and its been quite nice. its good to give an animal trapped in those places a better life, we all have problems and sometimes we jut need a but of understanding. that's why I will always look down apon someone who buys a kitten from a breeder.

Funny so did I. The video of you meeting him was recommended, I watched and behold what do I see. Must admit am a river lover, from young to now. Few years back a group of photographers (me included) went on 6 weeks weekend adventures tracing the river Tawe from its source, in the black mountain right to the bay, Abertawe (Swansea) wales. Our photographs were exhibited by the welsh water board, the trips were organised by them. I grew up near a river and the beach… But ya subscribe immediately bcos of him.

Taz may be jumping on the kitchen counter because he wants to drink from the faucet. Cats like moving water. My girl drinks from a glass bowl and she moves the bowl (water) before she drinks. Not a solution but perhaps an explanation.

Getting a cat fountain works wonders.
Cats understand what you are saying. If you train them while they are young, they will listen to you. I trained mine when she was young by telling her to get down and saying "treats" and she listened. Now if I tell her to get down, she does it without treats. This has also worked for brushing her hair, cutting her nails and wash time except with those I usually give her treats after.
Its amazing how cats actually do watch tv/monitors/ any screens, my cat loves the tablet

lcd or hdtv screens ... neither animals nor pets ever watched TV when they'd been built with vaccuum tubes, the imagery simply didn't readily register in their vision, you see 👀
I think it's a smart idea to get him used to the carrier. Definitely he won't be stressed at all when you will go somewhere with him like that. Nice to see and just what i imagine every cat owner should be doing

Animal Channel LOL you are awesome
With three cats I clean from top to bottom every single day. Every surface, floor, sofas, cat beds, everything gets cleaned. They are worth it and they keep me busy. I think to have one cat must be a lot easier and to think I hade 5 at one point. Cordless Hoovers, magic brushes and sonic mops are great. Couldn’t live without them.
Double-sided sticky tape has kept my cat off the counter. I would cover my counter with double-sided sticky tape and whenever my cat would try and jump up onto it, he’d jump right down because he doesn't like the adhesive from the tape on his paws. Took me about 2-weeks before he completely stopped trying to jump onto the counter, I'm now working on keeping him out of the kitchen in general. It's a very dangerous place for a cat and many accidents can happen! Don't listen to anyone saying that you should let him on the counter, it's important to train them not to do that because you don't want to risk them injuring themselves. 1:50

I've been lucky with my cat, keeping her off counter tops/tables. Since I brought her home, I'd get her down the moment she got up there. Luckily, we've got a nice back yard she can get a lot of energy out in - I've just been really lucky. Also, I never leave food in places that might tempt her, always put chairs under the table so she doesn't have an easy point to jump from etc. If something happens and I've left a step ladder near the table with a plate of tuna on it, it's my own fault if my kitty gets up there!😄 Taz is growing into such a handsome little gentleman 😺
he is so cute
My cat loved jumping on the kitchen counter as well until one day she burned her paws and then she learned that kitchen counters are no fun place to play)

There's a trick to keeping him off the counter or whatever & that is, no matter how much it bothers you, walk away & don't give him the attention he seeks ~ just go into another room. :-)
Cool. How's the harness training coming along?
He goes into the carrier on his own... My cats used to fight over every inch to not get in there 😂
Just get a roomba, they are great at cleaning the floor and the cat enjoy riding on it as well!
That is the best thing that has ever happened to ya Honestly
Hi, I love your channel! Where are you from?
Just use a vacuum, trust me, the cat will make itself scarce lol 😂
Dust first! When you brush the dust off of surfaces, the dust and cat hairs fall on your freshly cleaned floor!
can you bring taz to explore with you? i think he have some "adventurous soul" or whatever the name is 😂
Have you tried to bring Taz in a backpack carrier or a kitty lash to go for some hikes with you? He seems pretty intelligent for outdoor adventures.

on how to be controlled properly by his felion*
I must be super lucky, of the six cats I've had none of them have felt the need to jump on any of the kitchen surfaces, or any furniture that's not the sofa, which they lay on. They've always had free range of the house and been allowed outside during daylight hours. Cats get bored easily if they're kept indoors. But I've heard that kitchen foil laid on the surfaces keeps cats off them, apparently they don't like the feel of it, so maybe tape some to your work surfaces see if Taz stays off. Worth a punt!
Hi tazzzz
I dont care i just clean with the cat running around and stuff
On the counter issue, use cat training tape.
Try using aluminum foil or a motion triggered air spray pointing on the problem areas :p That helped when we had to keep our two youngest cats (sadly now, they're the only two left since losing our oldest cat last year) off of the counters at night. We had a specific piece of foil we'd set on the counters at night (since that's the only time they got up on them) If anyone's wondering how we found out they were on them, I'm an insomniac and I've caught them both on the counters, but only at noght (ot's like they know when we're supposed to be asleep xD)
Put aluminum foil on the counters and it scares the cat when they jump up. Works like a charm. Takes one or two times and they never do it again.
Give him more toys to play with?
Place aluminum or paper foil on the counters cats don’t like the sound or feel on there paws it works right away
@--Taz--

This worked for around half a day.
Taz be like : "about time we renovated that kitchen dontcha think ?" Cats will be cats, people will be people trying to figure things out... and cats will keep on jumping on counters till the end of times... On a side note, you may actually start your cleaning with dusting 😊
Him 5 months ago:"I cant take care of you man" God: Are you sure about that?🤨 The cat:Mama?
Now do this with 4 cats and 2 dogs. My house is never clean.

😄 ... 🙁
Haha you're a cat channel now
A tip for keeping him off the counter is to put 2 sided tape around where he would come in contact with first thing when he jumps onto it, they really don't like sticky things on their paws and for any further info about anything regarding cats go and give jackson galaxy's channel a follow he is THE cat whisperer 😅 and has a video for almost every problem that could occur when owning a cat What's also a good idea is to put up some cat shelves on the wall so he has more things to climb up on and that could also distract him from the counters
Wait so you keep him in a cage when you go to work!?
