How to Keep Going When You Feel Like Giving Up

Life gets hard. Fulfilling your goals and dreams is not as always dreamy as it sounds. We all get stuck, we all get worn out, we all lose the sparkle from time to time. But how do we keep going? How do get back up when we are feeling knocked down? How do we stay motivated when things don't end up being as easy or straightforward as we think they will be?
In this episode of GoodForMeTV, we're going to talk about how to keep going when you feel like giving up, and how to get that motivation back.

Hi Julia, CEO of a tech startup company in San Francisco here. By all accounts, my company has had success, but I've still had a rough time navigating the fundraising process due to an overly perfectionist and fear of continued rejection mindset. I got to a point of such frustration the other day that I was looking for any help I could come by and discovered your videos. You don't know this yet, but you're actually my coach (if only via KZread for now :) Thanks for making a lot of great videos on the subjects of self directed anger, perfectionism, etc because I was definitely struggling with both, and it was crippling my efforts to get even the most basic amount of outreach accomplished.

You are so right with taking a step back to just relax and trust the process. I lost 2 jobs in a year period and I was so burned out from trying so hard working to keep those jobs and pleasing bosses who are just miserable and do not appreciate who they have on their team. So I let go, took time off and just slowed down, trusting the process. Yes I failed, but now I am going after career goals i have always wanted to try. At this point, I am going to be much more compassionate with myself and rest as needed to help me reach new goals. Burn out is real and scary. I only give time to like minded people who are also trying to live their best lives, it's a real game changer. Thanks for the video, very helpful! ✌🙏✌

Hi Julia. It's great to know you. I found you through a friend who is a social worker. She recommended that I listen to some of your videos. Earlier this year I had a severe medical issue that required several days in a hospital. Here's the kicker. Not any of my acquaintances, friends or neighbors came to visit me in the hospital. I felt so alone and abandoned. I was in a very, very dark place. I am the type of person who drops everything and helps people who need help. Yet, here I was very alone and very sick. My social worker friend, who I met after the incident, is the person I credit with saving my life. Now I am healing my whole person by watching your videos. Thank you for being who you are. Regards.

You are fluid, clear, and fun to watch. Being happy is NOT a destination. Too many "wait" to be happy, or they have it dependent on a future "goal". I have two issues (only?!) ... 1. Too many around me don't know how to be happy.... do I let go of them or minimize how much they "take" from me? 2. The harder part! Parts of life IS about luck/ timing. This is undeniable and no one can ever convince me otherwise. There are too many examples, but health can be one of them. How do we pick ourselves up from bad luck? I don't mean it as a general excuse. In fact, I've never used it for an excuse /explanation. However, at 42 years old, recent history has been a series of misfortunes, intertwined with mistakes. I suppose it goes back to the sphere of influence. It just can be difficult. BTW, to answer your opening request- my partner sent me a link to this video unexpectedly. Not sure how it was found but glad I found you.

Giving advice in the #real #practical. No almighty and thunderous hunch. And I appreciate that. So simple, yet applicable. #go easy on yourself. No other speech I've listened to advises on this. Burn out is real. The human condition calls for slowing down to reenergize. You are quite right. Pushing and pushing could be detrimental to your health and you end up sick than successful. Even the sun refuses to shine and gets back up a next day.

Hi , the past 2 yrs me and few poeple were trying to stop demolition of the Allentown state hospital. Beauiful place. Peaceful, made u feel like home. I recharge here while walking the horseshoe. We lossed , and they demolished most of the buildings. It all fell on ears. They didn't listen to any of us. They did what they wanted. Few friends told me I should be proud of my self. I stood up to state. And for my believes. I do, but sad at same time, for what was lossed.

I’m new. I’m 25. I’m trying hard to keep myself in a home. I’ve had many setbacks. My biggest was being in the hospital and that inability to work and keep an income ruined my plans. I’ve been at the brink. I’m still at the brink. I’m at it right now as I type this. I often tell myself that it doesn’t matter. I tell myself that my life doesn’t matter. All of my struggles, while my own, mean nothing. If I were to be gone, it would change nothing. Those around me would simply be free. Free of a burden. Free of having to pretend to care about me. I make things hard on myself, and I don’t know how to make it stop. When things got bad from my hospital trip, it was so bad I took a pill bottle and wrote “Are you ready to give up”. A question I’d ask myself if I were ready to take that jump and truly set my mind and body free from this burden I put on myself and the burden I am to others. So I don’t have to deal with the pain of being left alone. Being abandoned. I had goals, I still do. Yet it’s so difficult to even start because my own mind just prevents me from doing things normally so I have to find some roundabout solutions for myself. All it does is just waste time. So I’m here now, as I type to whomever may see it, looking at this bottle with the million dollar question: “Are you ready to give up”. Even if I wanted to, I’m scared to. So it just weighs over my head as if it’s an easy solution, but it isn’t. It’s not an easy solution. It’s a hurtful one. A slow one. I don’t want to make that choice and the pain doesn’t stop with just mental. It becomes physical and I only suffer more when I just want the pain to end. So, because of my cowardice, I’m still here. Wallowing in my own pitiful sadness, worry, doubt, and disappointment. I don’t have shoulders to lean on. I don’t have the time to find any help. I don’t have the money for a therapist, nor the insurance for one. It’s all so much, and I just want it to all end instantly. And yet I can’t even push myself over that edge. I don’t know if it’s because I’m strong enough not to, or because I’m too weak to pull my own trigger…

Thank you. I really appreciate your help...I'm so there feeling undervalued at a job that i have been at for 5+ years...I'm trying to learn to stop overdoing myself there and then feeling overworked( my own fault) there's no real incentive for all the help that I've given when needed...we've gone through 3 managers in 3 months...each tells you, your actions won't go unnoticed...yeah right...no raise in almost 3 years...but yet you keep rolling with the punches, covering for others...etc.im ready to leave and make a new life and work where I can make a difference and Feel good about it.

I wrote this poem this morning: "The Boundaries Song" . Music is coming. I have the right to be respected, to be protected; treated fairly, no threats to hurt me! No "put-downs " make me feel bad about me, to go and do without jealousy because I have the right to my boundaries.

You popped up in my feed. Looking for reasons to keep going. I'll be 60 in a few months and I have nothing really to show for my life (even with 2 degrees) except a lot of experience. Earning far less than I did 5 years ago. So tired, burned out and living in a crap apartment because I can't afford anything more. I so want the freedom to take some extended time off and heal.... but taking time off may mean ending up living in my car (which feels like relief at the moment). But here I am, working in a retail environment and I HATE it.

My name is Rusty, I found this channel by chance, luckiest chance I could come across. When you find a channel that offers information that is palatable and easy to retain and process. I needed direction and had ambition and felt lost. Julia Kristina Counseling KZread channel have me that insight and inspiration throughout my life that became a driving force to start my own business so I could become a good provider. There is ebb and flow consequences and repercussions, but that doesn't mean that is bad, that may be challenging but every season of growth there is tension as well as the "drama".

Hi Julia: To answer your question, I couldn't pick just one. They're all golden. Today, though, my baby step was, first of all, to watch this (and not put it off for later), and to reach out to others for mentoring and support (which I did even before the video was all the way over!). Thank you so much. I also saved this in a new playlist for myself called Motivation. I expect I'll come back to this one again and again. Thanks again for all that you do!
