The Weird and Wonderful Pets project is about inspiring young minds!
While animal husbandry must always be taken VERY seriously (see Golden Rules video at the link above), many exotic small animals have quite simple culture requirements, and it is easy to provide suitable habitats to meet their needs.
If you can (1) buy pets from ethical sources, (2) provide a suitable environment with correct culture conditions, (3) only obtain the quantity of pets that you can properly take care of and (4) ensure that no pets escape into habitats in which they do not belong, then looking after weird and wonderful pets, and showing their life cycles and natural history stories to the next generation is an incredible way to inspire young minds and help nurture the next generation of naturalists, scientists and conservationists.
Visit www.weirdandwonderfulpets.com to discover the secrets of keeping fourteen amazing groups of small exotic animals!

    Hello I had a beige beetle that came in the house in the evening a few months back, and thought it was a big moth flying around, but found that as is was buzzing that it wasent a moth but a beetle, my son came downstairs and had a look at it and let it walk on his arm, so I thought ok I'll give it a try was a bit scared at first when it was flying around but plucked up enough courage to let it walk on my hand it felt like those green plants we used to call stickle backs that we used to throw at our school friend, it felt a bit like that as it walked slowly up my arm ,it had a white zig zag pattern on its underside both right and left and bright orange feelers, funny enough it looked quite cute for a beetle ,from that time I'm not afraid of them any more, he was a beautiful beetle though,. Not seen any more in the house since, I miss those littl guys.

    You seem like those kinds of channels that have a lot of views and comments; take Animal Planet for example. Though I think you are very underrated and definitely deserve *MILLIONS OF SUBSCRIBERS* I’m astonished, at what a interesting educational channel you have, definitely a good quality “documentary”. Something that my dad would like, lol.

    Mind if I asked is it natural if a beetle freshed hatch from pupa have a small horn also when does the horn grew big

  • @jgartworld

    @jgartworld

    5 жыл бұрын

    When a beetle hatches from it's pupa, it is fully grown. Adult beetles do not molt. So if it has a small horn, it's stuck with a small horn. And this male beetle would have a tough time mating in nature because sometimes (size matters)

  • @generalgrievous6833

    @generalgrievous6833

    5 жыл бұрын

    if it has eclosed, then it is done growing. the adult is as big as it will get. any small horns would be as a result of the grub not getting enough nutrients to grow enough before pupating. if you're growing them, try to find out what the grubs prefer to eat, and make sure to provide plenty of that food source and anything else the grub might need to rear bigger beetles, particularly males

    I have a wasp beetle, that came into the house with the wood. I didn't want to kill him, because he is so awesome. But what does he need to be happy? He now lives in a relatively large glass container with pieces of wood. He also have a small crocodile toy friend. The glass container is laying down, perhaps I should put it vertical, so the beetle can climb up and down? I only have one, will he be lonely?
