The jump float serve is the most common serve seen in women's volleyball, but that doesn't mean it isn't used in the men's game as well. The combination of the up-to-down trajectory and the movement put on the ball makes a jump float serve very challenging to pass. If you know how to do an overhand serve and feel comfortable with your attacking footwork, the jump float serve is the next step to add to your serving repertoire!
Jump float serves can be very frustrating to learn because the rhythm of the toss with the steps is challenging at the start. The important thing is to make sure you toss the ball higher and further in front of you than you do for a normal overhand serve. Don't give up though! Work through the rhythm by using the steps in this video, and you will get it!

The rhythm of this serve can be frustrating at the start, but stick with it! Think about breaking it and separating the movement into each step, and that should make it easier!

Thanks for the great video! As a fellow lefty, it's nice to hear the lesson for both a lefty and righty so I don't have to flip them around. Also great to see it from you from a lefty perspective visually. 😁

Floats are mean. My gym class was co-ed and we had a varsity player on our class and she killed with that. I mean, we're all random highschoolers, so we probably were traffic cones. I'm pretty sure varsity gets you an automatic A on PE
