I've done a couple of ops and been playing since the beginning. It was really tough for a solo player like myself but fun. Don't think I'll ever do anymore but it's always fun watching videos of ops that people have done.

The only thing I'd add is to research the Op you're trying first. My first Op, I told the group I'd never done this before, and asked what I needed to know. No one said a word. All the little things a quick overview could have told me (but I didn't know) led to a miserable experience, and I never went back. Ops typically have run-through guides that will at least let you not get blind-sided and bring down the group by you getting killed too many times... :)

Been playing regularly for about a month now. Our group finally started doing some OPS over the last weekend and they were super fun! Although, we did do a Scum and Villainy last night that took nearly 2 hours! Man that was a long one! I love the mechanics and the difficulty. But mainly being on comms with 7 other people who know what they're doing really makes it exciting and fun. We're looking forward to getting members in on our Guild properly geared to start doing Veteran & Master on the weekends soon. Love the channel and your website, as a new player it's been invaluable. Because this game has a TON of content, and it can be overwhelming at times! 😃👍

(I guess, I wouldn't know, since that was my first time) But needless to say, we were all up pretty late last night and some of had to be up early for work today. But as a gamer, I've never really experienced something that was as much fun as that was last night. So be tired and dragging today in my office, I feel it was well worth it to be up a bit late last night, having a good time with people I've know for years, but have never actually met....lol!! 😀...........😴😴😴😴

You have such weirdly perfect timing. I've only started doing OPs this week. Just Toborro but i'm considering the SM versions of a few of the easier ones. They're easy tech fragments while i'm subbed so why not. But it certainly is daunting to try a new OP as tank or healer. I'm always worried they'll hate me because I'm not the best at either. I do okay on Toborro but anything harder with group AOE or high damage, idk.

I've found that a preemptive strike helps when joining random groups, the first thing I type in chat is "get you caps lock on boys I have no idea what I'm doing" usually not only gets everyone laughing but people are usually pretty helpful with tips

Not played swtor for years but one thing I remember is there is a good community around it and ppl not mind teaching you ingame well unless that's changed now man I miss playing swtor 😞.

This is a great video for newbies to operations! My first full blown op was HM EV and I participated even without proper gear and barely being 306. I had a blast. The Op glitched out so I couldn't finish it. Learned a lot now I'm better prepared. :) now I even lead ops!

Thank you so much for this video, it's really helpful. I'm a veteran player, since launch, but I have only done a few operations (Toborros Courtyard, as it's very 'newb' friendly). I spend most of my time with my friends in a smaller guild doing flashpoints and running conquest. One of the challenges I've had in the past when trying to find an ops group, or a guild that I could join to learn how to run operations, is finding one that has 'raid' times that work for me. I'm on the pacific time zone, and work during the day, so I have only a few hours in the evenings to join an operation. It's best for me if the operations is scheduled at a specific time, so I can make it a point to be there, get the operation done, and be done in time to get some sleep. I was aware of Discord, but have never really investigated it as our small guild has a Mumble server we've been using for years. After watching this video, I'm going to investigate the Discord options and see if I can find a guild or just some friendly players who have a specific time to run ops that is compatible with my personal lifestyle. Thanks again for posting this.

Yes!!! We have that misconception in our guild too.

Tulak Hord does have an LFG channel and a second channel called SNG for operations.

This helped so much bc I did 1 op and 1 pf the teamate got mad bc I was the only tank and I didnt know my role so I got kicked out. Felt so down after, but this helped tremendous! Def going back anytime sooner!

Yep. You definitely don't want to go in as a tank until you at least know the basics of what tanking means (you.. probably know by now!!) Otherwise, it will be up to your group if you don't know the FIGHTS - either one of your members should explain, or they have to wait for you to go look it up as best as you can. Some groups will be ***holes about it and I'm sorry about that, but if they don't know how to do it either and they are complaining, they're a bad group too! Generally, I wouldn't recommend tanking a fight you don't know unles you know the group you are going in with (example I don't mind going in blind if I'm going in with friends or guild members). Another way to head off issues at the pass is asking your random group leader if its ok you don't know them before you start!

I really like the idea of random groups, it'd be a shame if the finder doesn't work due to lack of players using it. Be brave, be a hero!

I joined my guild 2 years ago because i really wanted do to opération ,so one day i create a group to do dxun , but we just beat the first boss in 2hour and finaly the other healer invited me in his guild! And we just beat Explosive conflict in master mode ! So guys if you want to do op don't hesitate to ask other people even if you don't finish it , you could discover really could person / little guild !

Sniper is a perfect class to practice knowing your skill subtypes. They have good defense and surviveability, surprising mobility, are decently good at keeping oversight due to increased range and thus line of vision, and they have both a low skill curve and very high skill ceiling. Not to mention that they have good utility tools like the ballistic shield, which is an AoE damage dampener for your allies. 20% damage reduction to a whole ass raid team is VERY good. But you need to learn where and when to use all these Abilities and you need to be able to expertly coordinate. The number of skills you will use effectively are high as well so it can help you learn skill macro-management and combining mouseclicking with keyboard binds. Overall, if you want to practice how to keep all skill subtypes in perfect use with good management, play Snipers. Ontop of that, good sniper players can solo content that is otherwise unsolo-able like the Rakghoul H4 mission or Starfortress hard mode *without* the alliance boosts, so its doubly rewarding.

Man I remember watching this video back in the day and thinking I would never get into operations. Yesterday I tried my first one. Our leader was very thoughtful and even offered to give me help with future ops I'd like to try. It was a fun experience but I don't regret trying it now because after getting to know my class really well in master mode FPs it was much easier to get into ops

I would appreciate any help. I've had the dread fortress operations listed on my missions ever since I did Oricon years ago and have never done an operation. I am geared up to 326 on my tank, but I need to research the ops a bit more so that I know what I am supposed to do. I had tried one on my healer (the one on Yavin 4) but I was the only healer so wasn't generating enough heal to get us through the 2nd boss (the walkers). I'd rather not repeat that sort of experience. Do you think I am better off gearing up one of my DPS people for the first time thru or going with my tank?

@@shaydowsith348 a 326 tank is perfect. If you feel like you need to read up on Ops there are guides that can help you out. But you should be geared enough for it. As for the walkers. Its almost impossible to solo heal. They just do too much damage. Unless everyone avoids it you won't be able to keep everyone alive by yourself. I believe I have a video on my channel of dread fortress and you can watch it and I explain the fight as well as the kill video with call outs so you can see what is going on.

Great question! So basically it's a bit irrelevant to this video, as your group leader will handle it. The group leader will invite you, then try and queue up the group using the Groupfinder, to get the group finder rewards. To do this, you q up with a group of 7, and hope your other eighth team member joins you thru the group finder. The part is annoying: 1 - The groupfinder has bugs with the "roles" and sometimes the group has to figure out what is wrong. 2 - The gropufinder picks a random operation. So The group leader will keep resetting it until Toborro's Courtyard shows up. Hard to explain without showing sorry!

I've always wanted to run operations, I've watched them numerous times but it's nothing like experiencing it, and my guild was never really into that sort of thing. Bit I've been on hiatus for a while so I think I need to get some practice with the old Sith Sorcerer and see what's changed before I try again. I really at least want to do Dread Fortress and Palace and the Yavin 4 Temple.

VERY similar! SWTOR and WoW are the two most similar mmos. I believe one big difference is the way operations scale, you can't go do a 'low level' one unlike in wow.

Gods (Valley of the Machine Gods) - is one of the harder ones to get into because it is the hardest Story mode Op for pug groups. Instead of watching Iokath, go to fleet or join your server's endgame chat (if you're on Star Forge, type /cjoin Allies in to the chat bar).

I've been playing since the game went F2P , subbed a few times but have only ever ran 1 raid, Karraga's Palace, not including the lag fest that was the giant Bug raid on Ossus. I suppose i've been intimidated from running them, always thinking i'd mess up not knowing the mechanics of boss fights and just keep dying. I'll probably resubscribe with the next expansion and from there i'll have to start doing the raids, i don't think i'll have the complete story experience until my mains have done the Dread Masters story

Im so scared to try operations Because i wont be a good squad mate. But i want season points...

Group Finder is bad for operations without asking for help. I done it before, waited for 2 hours, got no group. So I just waited for people to ask for operations, then I'd join, THEN they do group finder with everyone.

I just need to do nature of progresss for my main toon. But can never get a group for it. Just need story. 😭

I've put about a thousand hours in the game and I have never once seen the operations tab in group

I feel people in my guild aren't helping me understand the mechanics of operations and I feel like an outcast in the guild. I also feel overwhelmed with the amount of knowledge they have and they're only playing with people who are experienced. This is one of the main reasons why I always want to go solo or be with people that I know. Joining a guild and I don't know the people in there, it overwhelms me a lot. Now I am missing a lot of rewards and renown chests :(

Don't be intimidated by operations if you are new to them, or the game. SM has made most story mode OPs a joke. 30sec group battle rez, level boost/sync, removed mechanics, etc. I'm perfectly okay with this tbh. I do ops mostly for story as I progress my toons through each arc. If you want a challenge, we got HM and MM for that. How it should be. Though I feel the devs could bring more attention to them. Trying to get into an HM or MM ops requires a regular raiding group. Would be cool if you could pug them more easily, while still limiting it to those players who are actually ready for the challenge. Especially since now we have CM-1337s.

Guilded is way better than Discord. Discord hasnt changed much since 2015. We run ops almost daily using Guilded. I only stay on Discord to stay in touch with guilds who still havent made the move.

The misconception "U need to be fully geared" is false. But you do need to be almost fully geared if ur planning to do Nightmare mode, right?

If you're doing nightmare mode honestly I'd suggest being fully geared just so no one makes fun of you LOL. Some fights are easier than others and dont "need" full gear tho in nim.

As a dps that is currently progging NiM gods, fully geared is a misconception, as it's more so knowing your class and the mechanics of the fight. Swap out the mods for defense for lvl 70 content as power and mastery is capped, it won't matter in legacy ops

I tried doing one, too "tactical" and too easy to encounter a-holes & trolls ruining the experience so much that I won't do operations anymore (watching on KZread is fine but actually doing them? Nope)

Can you make build or rotation videos. Swtor channels on KZread are sparse

I wish SWTOR would impliment a way to light up certain skill based abilities like interupt and taunt when these are required I find I have trouble knowing when to use these abilities at the right moment, even if you communicating useing discord or a teamspeak, by the time someone calls out for an interupt or a taunt ect.. by the time you try to glance at your tray to look at that ability to activate it the moment has passed because your to busy button mashing trying to keep up with some sort of of rotation as well as keep up with the game mechanic of each certain boss you are fighting , I have event watched guides on the operations to learn when your supped to activte certain abilities, but this still isn't helpful because there is just to much going on in the fight to be able to keep up your damage levels and trying to stay alive long enough to be useful to the group you are participating with, you really need an above average concentration level and understanding of game mechanics to be able to successfuly paticipate in operations, for the most part I avoid this content, it's just overly challenging and really rather stressful and jut to challenging to be enjoyable

Yep that's part of the "skill" part of playing the game - watching the UI and the battlefield. That's why most of hte basic storyline content does not require interrupts or much awareness. If that's not what you're interested in, levelling story content and expansion story is great. If you want to practice/learn things like interrupting on your own time, check out Eternal Championship it is a GREAT way to prepare and practice alone!

50% of ops members are very friendly and welcoming The other 50% ruin ops and make it miserable so nobody wants to learn and try ops as they get insulted and hit with insults over these toxic people being impatient with newer members

How tf can a f2p get some lvl60 equipment?

Forgive me for being a bit brutally honest, as I am not trying to steer people away from trying out this game, this is really just me trying to vent my frustration with this aspect of the game. But I feel I have to say that the way this operation concept in SWTOR works just really kills the story aspect of this game for me. I was really looking forward to finally doing an operation with the impression that all you had to do was enter the area and possibly wait for 7 other players. But if these endgame story operations depend on if someone let's you join their group or not, or you have to form a group of your own that won't even guarantee you'll get any members really does kill the story aspect of this mmo for me. I play this game entirely for story and role play, and I was very much looking forward to facing off against the Dread Masters, but the fact that it takes so much unnecessary and overcomplicated measures to do so really dissapointed me. Especially because I only have a couple days before I have to cancel my subscription for financial reasons and I just got to the level 80 requirement to even play operations. I plan to keep playing SWTOR, but I can't help but feel that solo players like me are being deprived from an incredible experience that can be as simple as just creating separate rooms each for the first eight arrival players.

so let me get this straight, you're frustrated that endgame in an mmorpg requires a group? You do know what those three letters in front of rpg mean right? Solo players have never and will never be the focus of because that's not the point of mmos, you're here to do shit with other people, that's literally the whole point of the genre. Also, finding ops groups isn't overcomplicated, if you put in a little bit of effort you could look for a guild that does ops, there are tons.

LFM is not looking for more. It stands for Looking for member. LFP stands for Looking for party. This will never change and it started years ago with the wow classic

@@maduran3130 What's funny is LFM is definitely an acronym I've seen in WoW, Swtor, XIV, heck even EQ. LFM clearly means "Looking for More (Players)" usually stating the content you are looking to do. You're getting caught on semantics when it's clearly a very common and understood thing.

Except last I played swtor(2019) it would be like “LFM 1DD 1T 1H EC NiM timed link chieve” and always heard it was “looking for more” and the after was damage dealer(DD), tank(T), and heals(H)

So there's a lot of misinformation in this video and once again calling you out on it because this isn't the first video I've seen where you intentionally misinform others. Yes you really don't need gear for SM until you start doing harder operations in SM where Mechanics can kill you if you stand in stupid. The Bolster you get only affects your stats it does not effect your armor rating. Proof is that in pvp you can get bolstered but if people see your item rating is low they nuke you because Bolster has no effect on armor rating. Secondly, I'm assuming you only played swtor so you may not know this but if you do shame on you. Skills are broken into three general terms. Attack, Defense, and Support. Heals are not a defensive skill they are a support skill. The abilities in those three terms are broke down further. Attack (single target, AoE, elemental, internal, Burst, and DoT) , Defense is anything that mitigates damage from yourself, protects other people ( Taunts, Shield, Absorb, Defense), Support ( heals, buffs, interrupts, movement abilities, and stuns). Second time I'm saying this but stop misinforming people.

This is not misinformation but rather you seemingly nitpicking and looking for a reason to "call out". Also, "shame on you" for someone just playing SWTOR? Also, true some MMOs refer heals to "support", some consider them defense as healing can be considered a defensive action it is keeping you from dying, essentially "defending" you from dying. If you think you really know THAT much more, you could make your own video with the "corrections" you feel so passionately about.
