That's a really smart thing you found out man. Props to you for that. It's a shame that simply joining a discord call shouldn't be this complex, sony should really just bring discord to PlayStation already.

Thanks! And yeah it's definitely coming, just later on this year. For now though, this genuinely is super simple to setup after the first time; you can just connect everything in about 20 seconds realistically or less, so whilst a game is just booting up :)

THANK YOU! A LOT of PSN players have been looking for a way to use discord. While it does seem like a LOT to do to get it working, it’s certainly the only work around I have found so far!

I've been doing this for a few years on the desktop app. I figured it out when I learned that Fortnite had PC crossplay WAYY before the announcement of console and PC being a thing. 😭 I'm glad the method is so smooth on phones these days 😁

Yeah, still only takes a couples seconds after the first time though, but yeah, the official method will be coming later on in the year.

Can you still chat in game using this method if your main headset is only connected to your phone? Or is there another workaround needed?

Would using this method still pickup chat and gameplay audio simultaneously if you’re streaming or recording on a PS5?

But if I connect my phone using remote play the controller turns off and when I turn it in again my phone loses connection to the ps4

This is great thank you for sharing but I actually use remote play so I don’t want to have to change my settings back and forth to do this

That makes sense! You could always try one of the other clients mentioned for remote play and then have 1 app with the main account, and 1 with the 2nd account for executing this. Do note that the PSplay client I recommended does cost about $4 though, but it is a much better remote play app.

Very neat trick although if you just get a gaming headset with Bluetooth like the TurtleBeach 700 Gen 2 or some of the Steelseries headsets you can talk to people thru Discord via pc or mobile with Bluetooth and be wireless connected to your console of choice

@@user-ee7pz7gp6s If you have a Bluetooth compatible headset, it will come through your headset like a phone call, but it’s the Discord voice chat. I have a Stealth 700 and that’s how I use it

I had it working now it just signs me out when trying to use controller with my main account. Is it patched?

One issues I’m having is hearing the game audio while using discord if I click that mute button in the middle of the phone then I can hear proper game audio but I can’t hear anyone in discord anyone know what I can do ?

I actually do this quite a lot with different people :D Really appreciate everyone's help and support so it's cool when I can find ways to feature viewers on thumbnails or the video. My custom profile pictures video from the other week was made up mainly from viewer's profile pictures on the thumbnail :) (I asked if it was okay to use them first of course) :D

That's definitely happening some point this year as mentioned in the video, but for now, this is the best workaround there is. I've spent about a week looking for alternatives and trying to figure other ways out, but this only takes about a minute to setup first time, then literally takes a couple seconds thereafter so is quite a good solution :)

Can this work if your making clips can the clips hear my friends?

Is there another way cuz remote play always says my internet is too slow to do it

During remote play the game audio is coming out the TV and not the phone

What if i’m on LAN on main account and my phone is on wifi. Please anwser quick

I think I did it wrong somehow because I can’t use my controller without it signing me out. I think I put the wrong profile on the remote play app but at the same time the app doesn’t ask which profile I would like to sign into it just signs me in. I can play and talk with friends and hear game audio but it’s in the wrong profile so all of my save files are not there and I’m basically starting all over again.

If you already use your playstation and phone why not simply join a call directly on phone and use any in-ear headphones with your phone. You might say but you want to use headphones on playstation. Just use both in ear and over the ear. But the buds are too big? Just use classic 3.5 mm jack headphones.

Yeah I said that at the end, it's just more of a pain. Cos if you are wanting to play on your main display with your main controller to avoid input lag, your computer/laptop would need to be with you in the same room which of course isn't the situation for everyone and not everyone has access to a computer/laptop. I focused on using a phone as the display is smaller so it's less of an inconvenience and more people have access to phones :)

So I cant have discord and my main account tied to be able to hear the audio of both in my headset?

You can have them linked in settings if that's what you mean? All the 2nd account for is for getting the audio through from the playstation if you dont have a bluetooth headset; you still play on your main account and use your main discord account, youd never really know the 2nd account is there after the first time doing it.

@@YoJimBoHugabaJoe Using 2 accounts means you are using less bandwidth as you dont need to play through remote play. If you only used one account, you would have to play via your phone which is then uploading data all the time too so that the console can register your inputs, and you would have a ton of unnecessary latency. You'd also probably want to stream at a higher quality which would use more bandwidth. I can assure you the method detailed in the video is currently the best way unless you have a headset that can pair with the console and a phone simultaneously :)

This is mainly for anyone wanting to chat with their friends on PC so it's easier to chat cross platform :) After the initial setup, it literally only takes a couple seconds each time to setup as shown in the final 10 secs of the video :D

Doesn't it make more sense to just plug your headset into your phone using the discord app. Then connecting the same headset to your PlayStation saves a lot of faff

@@Octorious I don't feel the need to dislike but I miss them when evaluating tutorials before I watch them. Your video surely provides a way to play crossplay games a bit easier but I don't see this as "joining a Discord call on PS4/5". The whole reason I looked it up was because I heard from the Discord announcement a bit back from a friend and I now saw the PS link implication on Discord.
