what is the best way to text her?

Blueberry, hey Quennie great tips, love them. I was just wondering, for beginners what's the difference to starting with something like Pearler vs raiz or Spaceship? Wouldn't it be simpler to just invest in spaceship portfolios as they do provide good returns, and set and forget? I guess with Pearlier you can choose which ETFs etc to trade on, but then as a beginner is hard to know and analyse it. Just wondering why not just go for a micro investing app?

Hi Quennie. Would you put your emergency fund in a high yield savings acct with 5% interest or put it in an offset account if you are on a mortgage with 6.15%?

It’s up to you! But something interesting is interest on savings is taxed but if you put it in a offset, since you’re saving interest and not earning interest it’s not taxed! Something interesting to note. But it’s up to you at the end of the day 🥰 and if unsure you can speak to an accountant!

I was wondering how many ETFs is ideal for my portfolio? I currently own VAS, VGS & NDQ but I'm thinking about IVV or VTS as I believe the US market will do well.

There is no right or wrong number of ETF to hold as everyone is different. I personally don't have many, some people have 10.

I'm not there yet with passive investing, but having dividends coming in definitely takes the edge off the cost of living rises for sure :) will let you know when I reach financial freedom!

Queenie or someone who knows please answer my question. New to investing here, If I buy say 10 BHP shares in July 2023 and 5 BHP shares in September 2023 I sell 11 BHP shares in August 2024. How much will I be taxed? The 10 BHP shares owned for more than 12 months will be taxed at? The 1 BHP share owned for 11 months will be taxed at? When selling shares is it first in first out? Shares bought first are the ones sold, when selling?

My understanding is if less than 12 months than tax on 100% capital gain. If more than 12 month than tax on 50% of capital gain. I may be wrong as I m not a tax consultant or financial advisor

Yes there is a 50% capital gains tax discount when you hold your shares for more than 12 months like Danielli said ☺️ one way the ATO likes to reward long term investors!

Great investing strategy summary. So easy these days with the apps etc. When I was your age the world of stock market in Canada was mysterious and out of reach of the common people, I'm glad that now younger generations can have access to riches in their lifetime and get out of the rat race and hedonic threadmill before kicking the bucket. 😂
