How to make good lineart (based on my opinion) 1. Choose a pen that has opacity or put the opacity of the pen to 80 to 90 percent. ( Basically make it a little bit transparent like a pencil) 2. Put thicker or darker lines to the part where shadows would appear and thinner and lighter lines on parts where light is exposed. Facts: When you sketch with pencil it looks good, but when you put lineart on your piece it looks bad. Its because it doesn't have opacity. In traditional art you just have to follow the steps I said. In digital it would look good with opacity. Tips in your lineart: Your line art doesn't need to be clean, it can be sketchy to add interesting look into it. Adding texture to your pen can make your line art have traditional look or make it appealing. There are artist who doesn't have clean lineart and it has textured look, and it's still appealing. (Sorry for my english)

(The whole framing part) Just select outside of the lineart layer (on the same layer of course) Invert your selection and then and select increment under the selection tab, (which can be modded in the shortcut keys) and keep pressing it until you get your desired outline :D OF COURSE, you need to get the color you desire first before you do any of those steps so: -> Go on the layer of the lineart -> Select outside of the lineart -> Go to Selection and then Invert Selection or just invert ->Choose a color different from your lineart color -> Fill in t (I got a KZread Video I'm uploading on the matter)

Tip for Great Lineart: On Clip Studio Paint (the software I use) they have this cool thing when you’re doing lineart, it allows you erase part of a line when it intersects with another line, without hurting anything but what you want to get rid of - First off you have to make a vector layer, and yes, it only works on a vector layer. So, say you want to make a ‘v’ shape, you first draw two lines in an ‘x’, then you go to the eraser tool, go to the box that says ‘vector eraser’, make sure it has a check mark in it, then make sure you’ve selected the second diagram (it looks like a plus sign with only the top line being neon blue). After that, all you have to do is erase the parts of the ‘x’ you want to get rid of (the bottom two lines to make a ‘v’) and you’re done and magically you have a perfect ‘v’ shape with a perfect vertex/point! Hope this helps at least one person doing lineart because honestly it’s the only way I can do clean lines as fast as I do.

something that really help me to understand all this inking process is to not think of it as lines but shadows, then you seek for darker areas (for example here is the chin and neck) then you look up for lighter areas here you add smaller lines, it helps to do small studys with boxes or simple forms adding thin lines on the area of the highlight or the face that is heading the light, and then you add thick lines to the shadow side, where the objet is close to the ground for example.

I don't like stabilizers because they add artificial lag. Some stabilizers will wait for more inputs to draw the line. Other stabilizers will draw the line immediately but will edit it when it receives more inputs. It might seem like I'm nitpicking, but I really don't like it

Thank you, great video! The drawing exercises have been very helpful. I've been drawing for a very long time, and I've never engaged in a warm up practice where I simply redraw the same line. Art is a continuous learning process.

This helped, I just need improve on my straight lines in the digital app, but this really improved how I use my digital pencil. I don’t shake like I used to but, I gave up (kinda on the thin lines cause it looked messy..but if you zoom out, my drawing looks nice~~Thank you❤️

Oh goodness this *actually* made things way easier to understand for me! Since I draw on a 10" tablet (as in the traditional type, not the art type) I've unconsciously improved on my traces; but the line weight is the thing that I alwahs struggled with, so this really helps! Especially the outline trick, I usually just trace the silhouette with a bigger brush, but its so much work lol
