There are some things to be aware of with OEMs. They are tied to your motherboard. If you upgrade your motherboard, you'll need to buy a new key. Also, I think, if windows 11 ever comes out, you can't just upgrade. You'll need to do a clean install (not sure of this). Most of the time an OEM will be just fine, just be aware there are reasons why it's that cheap. Oh, and there's no Microsoft support for OEMs, but who cares, we have Google for that.

Very informative, easy to follow and understand for a beginner like me. Thank you so much! You earned a subscriber. Hihi.
5:35 Pro tip: If your install wizard looks like this and you aren't storing any personal data or other OSes on that drive you can also… 1) Press [Shift]+[F10]. 2) Enter "diskpart" into the (hopefully) resulting CMD window. 3) Enter "sel dis 0" [replace with the actual number in case of deviation, otherwise you'll delete the wrong drive]. [4.5) For the most paranoid: Enter "detail dis" and confirm that the model/volumes listed is corresponding to the drive you want to delete.] 4) Enter "clean". 5) Close the window and proceed. Trust me that is much cleaner as it also removes flags, old boot-loaders and such fully and is actually faster if you have routine. On another note: Did you just enjoy that I wanted to use Windows as my OS? **angry Arch noises** 😠
Just in case some motherboards have CSM compatibility mode switched on by default, there should be a reminder to install only in UEFI mode, especially if you want to take advantage of AMD/NVIDIA's PCI E memory access features in the future.
Thanks for the video. Used the discount and installed on my new build no problem.

It's interesting to see what my favorite tech tubers are posting while we can't buy Zen 3, Ampere, or RDNA2. This is good, useful content, period. A couple of thing viewers who doubt "gray market" Windows keys should note: 1) As Greg points out, you don't need a key at all to run Windows 10; Microsoft charges zero for the download and installation. 2) Microsoft could easily squash third-party key sellers if it wanted to. It doesn't squash them, so obviously it doesn't mind if you use these keys to make the watermark go away and change your background. Finally, it's a good idea to disconnect all the drives in your system except the one where you want Windows to install. That'll save you an oops. Reconnect them later.

I installed Linux Mint on my HP Omen laptop last year. It was a massive PITA to get the hybrid graphics working correctly. But once I got it to work, it was a very good experience. The biggest difference I noticed was that the fan would rarely spin under Linux. It would only do so if I was doing something GPU/CPU intensive. Otherwise, it was mostly quiet.
Huh? I thought you already did one of these? Guess not.

Here ⬆⬆⬆ The necascw Windows 11 user interface and Start menu look very similar to what was originally found in Windows 10X. Microsoft had been simplifying Windows for dual-screen devices, before canceling this project in favor of Windows 11. Visually, the biggest changes you’ll notice can be found along the taskbar. Microsoft has centered the app icons here, cleaned up the tray area, and included a new Start button and menu

Can you play PC games on Linux? I'm thinking about building a PC with some help from one of my coworkers.
@dyray9232
3 жыл бұрын
@@JacksonWalter735 Linux is not better at game support than windows, it is more private and secure. Windows isn’t the prime choice when it comes to performance either Linux can often out perform windows. The biggest problem is developers not adding Linux support. If your games do support Linux, they will likely run better depending on the game. You can set up dual boot with windows so you can play your games and then use Linux for everything else.
@JacksonWalter735
3 жыл бұрын
@@dyray9232 Thanks for your insightful comment. It's a no to PC games on Linux right? I'm new to PCs (usually use an iPad or my phone for most computing needs) and don't know much. I'm trying to get as much info as possible before I actually build one. Do you recommend having both OS on it?
@dyray9232
3 жыл бұрын
@@JacksonWalter735 Installing both operating systems(called dual booting) takes a bit more knowledge about how to partition drives. Many Linux installers can have an option to install Linux along side windows. Windows can cause issues in some cases. To the games part: Support for a certain games and Linux is iffy. If the game has an anti-cheat it is a no for sure. Steam has a thing called proton that can be used to run some windows only games on Linux at the cost of performance. If you use steam, you can check the performance of games at protondb.com .

While I like your videos a lot, it's a real shame that you continually promote illegal Windows 10 licenses. You can install Windows 10 and legally use without activating it, for free. There are only very minor limitations and it never expires. That's a much better option than buying keys that are being sold illegally.
@RylanStorm
3 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure this is actually illegal. The company will have signed an agreement to say they won't sell these keys but it's probably not breaking any law when they do. It will just invalidate their agreement and MS will issue a cease and desist perhaps even invalidating all keys they sold. Still, I agree it's less than kosher and Greg should get better sponsors.
