I also had to remove the big rubber think to make it sit flush. Didn't remove the smaller one. Should we be worried of water getting inside the cables and the car body because the rubber is removed? As there is also a pretty big gap in the top of the tail lights.

It was a concern I had at the time but I felt like it would be hard for water to get in there with just rain as most of the water would hit the surrounding areas so I'm not to worried about it getting water damaged. The only way I could see water getting in there is if your washing the car and open the boot and just spray water at the top of the light constantly. If by some chance water did get behind the light it would still have to find its way into the hole at the back and into the light which would still be pretty hard.

@@RCS_716 Thank you for fast reply! That's pretty much my thought process too. I'm also quite worried about corrosion of the cables if air gets in somehow. Also thinking about winter season because here in Sweden they heavily use salt on the roads. But I think as we both made this mod the light sits very tight to the body, so shouldn't be any issues? I'm thinking about sealing up the gap with waterproof tape or silicone, would that be overkill? Also think about cut the thickness of that rubber thing if I can somehow so I can mount it back with the rubber. I don't know if I'm overthinking too much about this.

Tbh preventative maintenance is always a good idea, better safe than sorry. The water proof tape thing is a good idea, although I think it should be OK the chance of stuff getting in is still possible so some type of tape.as you said or some weather proof strip would be good to put on it as a peace of mind item. Definitely not overkill in my opinion

@RCS_ Thanks again for responding! Yeah, I will check tomorrow in my local stores just for that peace of mind. Will check for a waterproof/weather resistant tape that also can be removed without too much effort in case the Vland light fails and I have to resort back to the original tail lights. Just came across this video after fitting my Vland lights and saw that you also did the same thing as me. Other has also resorted to doing the same thing because of fitment issues while others just use them with big fat gaps all across which I think looks awful and then I also think there's a higher risk of water getting inside. Will subscribe to your channel! Keep up the good work. Also before make this comment too long. Will you also get the Vland Headlights? I have Polo 6C 2017 and tried to mount them but couldn't get them to slide in like the original headlights. Although they work, they are worthless to me right now. Checked out on video here on KZread mounting them and they didn't mention anything. There is also several reviews successfully mounting them but has mentioned problem with the fitment.

I'm not going to get the vland headlights unfortunately, I saw some that resemble the vw golf's headlights ( the square looking ones ) im going to be getting those at some point. There's another guy on here that has a polo and he has put the vland headlights on his polo, I'll link the video he made maybe you can ask him and see if he also had some difficulties putting them on etc: kzread.info/dash/bejne/optn1a1xetyxZ5c.html

where did you get your old ones tinted, i went from 6r to 6c tail lights idk it seems better in my view, any places to tint lemme know, thanks

I'm not sure what % they were sorry. They brought out 2 different samples, one lighter and one darker and I picked the darker one so I don't actually know what percentage it was. ( I should have asked them tbh )

As far as I know, they only fit the mk5 polo's. Maybe there's a way to do it but I'm not aware of how to do that. Sorry

hi i was considering buying these after seeing your video after doing some KZread search, i came across a video from Vland channel and someone commented that these lights are illegal in the UK, which has now made me curious to know why their illegal and what makes them illegal in the uk?😕

This is the first I'm hearing this so idk if they are illegal or not tbh but I don't think they are. If it turns out that they are then I'm also curious as to why 🤔 Maybe they are like headlights which have left hand drive and right hand drive versions and the way how the left hand drive ones are setup would be illegal in the uk but the RHD would be fine ? Idk but that's just a guess

@@RCS_716 This is from Vland Europe official site, i know there's 2 versions smoked and red, can you give your thoughts on it please. NOTE: For the Red edition, the turn signals on the tail lights should be Amber but due to lens material, the turn signals will look Red. Please confirm with your local regulations before you buy. kzread.info/dash/bejne/X3eGrLiRhrO_dc4.html this lad installed the red versions in the uk, if you go to 8:20, he will show the indicators but they look amber and not red from the video, so im confused. what do you think, do they look amber or red?

It doesn't look red to me, looks how it should imo ( especially at night it will definitely look amber ). Maybe vland say it might look red just as a precaution? 🤷🏿‍♂️ Do they say anything about the Smoked ones or just the red lense ones ?

@@RCS_716 just a special note for the red ones, it confused me cause i kept seeing comments on other videos saying Vland tail lights are illegal but no explanation to why, ive got a question for you regarding the smoked and red tail lights, i have the pepper grey polo 6R and was wondering which colour tail light would look the best with grey, as you seen the red ones and you own the smoked ones, from a personal opinion, which do you think would best suit a grey polo?

Pepper grey, that's a nice colour 👌. Personally I'd go with smoked with the grey but that might be a bit biased as I just prefer the look of the smoked lights more. But I feel like the smoked would give the back of the car a nice stealthy with the grey.

Any way to drive with the leds in the lights off? So it’s fully black

I don't think you can, if you want to do that you would have to get it coded or mess around with the wiring

I don't know of a person or company that does that. I searched for one online: www.vagcarcoding.com/ I don't know if they are a good or reputable company, as I haven't used them before but by the looks of it they do coding etc maybe it's worth shooting them an email to see if they can code the lights for you

are the license plate lights just new led bulbs or is it a different unit
