What about if you have a door lock that won’t unlock from the other side of a key is in the door?

Why do you need the tape for 48 hours?

How does this work when you have a long vertical bar which consists of the handle and the lock mechanism which is a very common thing in UK houses? The first lock had a bracket which allows the main mechanism to protrude far enough. This new lock doesn’t seem like it will be able to accommodate, the bar. How would this work?
