    Hi, I also have a shuttle bus conversion and am thinking of switching my current key fob to this, actually I have already purchased from Amazon. My current fob does not allow me to use the open and close polarity button existing on the bus. I can only open and close with the key fob. So it would be inconvenient for passengers with no fobs and as well having to carry the fob to open and close at all times. Also it doesn’t work smoothly like this, I have to push both buttons for it to open or close. 🤔

    The red wire is power for the door motor. It has to be hot all the time.

    I wired it up as described and it is not working correctly. If the door is fully open or fully closed and I push the remote (either open or close depending on which way I want the door to go) it opens (or closes) for a split second and then stops. I did those little pins so it will run for 5 seconds. Any other ideas on what I'm missing?

    Thanks for the great video. I actually have the same exact door on my bus as you so I thought this would be flawless. After wiring it all up (except to my 12v battery bank, not to my car's battery) I soon realized that every time I close the doors with the FOB, after 5 seconds the door automatically opens back up again! Tried many things and just cannot get the doors to stay shut. Any feedback would be appreciated.

    PROBLEM SOLVED! When I originally wired this, before disconnecting any wires I had the doors in the OPEN position. I believe this was my issue. I rewired everything back to the original setup, put the doors in the CLOSED position, and wired this up just as described above and it worked! Hope this helps anyone else having this issue.

    Great video! Still adding value. I bought a different key fob and it was small could not get it to work. Saw another video on this key fob and it was confusing. Yours was spot on. Question: Did you have a switch by the dash and did you disconnect/ bypass or can you still use that switch?

  • @dustinsearer5228

    Hey. Glad you found it helpful. Yes, we had the switch on the dash and it still worked. We just spliced into those wires without disconnecting them. So we could open the door with the dash switch or the fob.

    what battery does it connect to? is there a battery up there with the motor? or is it talking about the engine battery? or the batteries that are powering the rest of the bus?

  • @dustinsearer5228

    @dustinsearer5228

    3 жыл бұрын

    We first connected it to the starter battery for the engine but then realized that would drain it and could strand us. So we rerouted it to connect to the batteries connected to our solar set up which powers the rest of our build.

    Initially we connected it to the main bus battery and very quickly had a dead battery. So I would say to reroute the power to the batteries of you solar system at the start. Good luck with your build!

    Wired wrong? Either the device is trying to draw too much power, or something is shorted. I would cap the unused wires, because they could short out.

    miles angelo in the video we just spliced it into the power cords that were already going to the door. We later changed it to go directly to our deep cycle batteries that are hooked up to our solar to make sure that it wouldn’t drain our starter batteries.

    For sure. We used a 12v test light like this one. www.amazon.com/OctagonStar-Circuit-Systems-Continuity-Voltage/dp/B01HUZPTPS/ref=mp_s_a_1_6?dchild=1&keywords=12+volt+test+light&qid=1594125377&sprefix=12+volt+test&sr=8-6 And used it to see which wire had power all the time (positive power) which had power when we hit the open button (open) power when we hit close (close) and which never had power (negative/ground). Good luck! :)
