    You’re actually supposed to use the bolts that hold on either the caliper bracket or the caliper to remove the rotor. It just makes it a lot easier and you already have them with you so might as well use them.

    The only thing I would add is to open your Brake master filler cap and make sure it doesn't overflow when you're pushing the brake cylinders back in . especially if someone added brake fluid as the brakes wore . Thanks for the video.

    Does the filler cap need to be completely removed or just loosened prior to pushing the caliper cylinders in?

    I just completed this job, pumping the brakes and adjusting the parking brake after each wheel. Everything seems to be working just fine, but should I have waited until both sides were done to pump/pull the parking brake? Just want to make sure I didn't accidentally set myself up for a problem later. Thanks!

    Great video. Thank you. and typical of most I've done with hat rotor with concentric mini-drum parking brake. Rear pads were not in need of replacement though. 2-3 mm remaining would be time.

    dealership wanted me to change the front rotors just because "he felt it in the steering wheel" turns out it was my rear rotors that were bad, they were just so bad that the whole car + steering wheel was shaking, saved me $200.

    No, but you should pump the brakes after each individual corner you do to avoid overflowing the reservoir.

    Can the abs system be messed up by pushing back the piston which causes fluid to go backwards into your abs gizmo instead of coming out the bleed valve if you had used that instead. ??

    Can somebody please tell me WHY they went to all the trouble of building a secondary drum for the parking brake inside the hubs of the rotors, instead of simply using the caliper?

  • @bigdaddymak1439

    @bigdaddymak1439

    Because when GM came out with the parking brake in the caliper in the 90s it was a disaster so everybody went to this design! Now manufacturers are going back to the parking brake in the caliper but it controlled by an electric motor instead of a cable!

    How do you mechanically "" simply use the caliper" ? It is a hydraulic system and It doesn't have any self-servo locking action that a drum style P-brake would - the self applying action helps hold the brakes regardless how hard the driver pulled the P-brake on. I never see most folks using the P-brake - but I don't live in San Fran. :) I ALWAYS use them regardless of incline and it keeps the cables and mechanical bits free moving. and there is no real "wear".Some trivia: do you recall Ford Trucks using a drive shaft mounted P brake? Cheers! - Sandy.
