Probably $400. Just a shout out to "The Handy Man", I have been watching you for a couple years now. I hated working for my boss he was such a narcissist. For 3 .5 years I worked under him knowing that someday I would own my own business and become self-employed. I looked online around my third year and found you on KZread and it changed everything. The first video I watched was you saying " the reason why I'm self-employed is for more time and more money"! In that moment I was sold. I know this is a cheesy comment but I'm over here in Washington state killing it with my own business just bought a nice new truck nice trailer and making more money than I ever thought possible. Anytime I had a question or my confidence was low which was quite often I always turned to your KZread channel and got through it. You single-handedly change my life with your KZread channel. In April it will be two years in business. Thank you! 👍 And Sorry about the cheese. Haha

In a crummy year you’ve made a lot of lives better.
As a professional electrician, I always fish wires from hard to easy. In this case, the smaller hole in the outlet box near the floor is where you start since its the hardest hole to get the wire into. Then you fish the wire up into the large easy box hole you cut neat the TV bracket, where you can easily grab the wire by sticking your hand in the hole. If you have trouble fishing out the box hole at the bottom, use needle-nose pliers to pry the hole open for your wire.
@christophercrawford2736

As a professional tv installer, I concur. Except because I constantly hit fire blocks, I switched to always cutting my hole for low voltage wires whether they need it or not so that I can stick my hand in there and feed the wires into the box. Then a low voltage cover plate makes it look like an intentional hole that doesn’t need a patch.

My buddy laughed at me when I told him I was going to hang new drapes over a woman’s windows a couple months back. He wasn’t laughing when I told him what I was making for 45 mins of very light work (in comparison to roofing, my usual gig) and as my own boss! Very true. Installing curtain rods can be a really aggravating project. It should be easy but people would be surprised what problems pop up. Been watching you for a year or so now, first time commenting. Really enjoy your videos and as homeowner/DIYer learned quite a lot of tips from you. Kind of funny you posted this video, wife and I just moved our TV from over a fireplace to a different wall and I need to fix the dangling HDMI and power cord. Was just going to use one of the Legrand Wiremold in wall rated extension cord cable management kits which I used in a spare bedroom. But this actually looks doable though was having trouble following the wiring you where doing. Will have to re-watch and give my electrician father a call to sanity check for me. Thank you for the awesome content
First of all you have opened my eyes to how and what I’m charging for my handyman business. I didn’t realize that I should be charging a fair price for my honesty, knowledge, prompt response, integrity etc. And that there are so many unscrupulous people out there taking advantage of and cheating the people they are working for. We have to take this into account when bidding on jobs and value what we hat to offer. Thank you for your incredible insight into the handyman trade.
This project is actually on my to do list in the spring. I look forward to rewatching before I go and tackle it!

How do you get thru the firewall without damaging the drywall?!
Nice job. Try using a double Arlington ($15) box next time. You only have to cut one opening and the tv plug will be recessed behind the tv. Also to protect the tv I always install a surge protector outlet at the top outlet or at the bottom outlet if they have dvd, cable boxes and stereo equipment to plug in.
When I designed and built my house I pondered this a bit. I ended up setting an outlet up high and then a second empty box up high with a 2in conduit chase going down to a empty box down low. The Tv covering the upper boxes and furniture covering the lower now I can pull whatever cords are needed, change out a bad one and most especially be future technology proof. It can change from HDMI cords to whatever the next new generation cords are anytime.. I'm good to go. Did this in every room and it's worked out perfect. Add or change a Hulu box, game console or anything.. no problem.
Got my house 4 months ago. Alot of stuffs need to fix and u are my teach now😃
I got one of those Klein screwdrivers after one of your videos probably a year ago. Upgraded every light switch in my house (well, still working on it...) and that little screwdriver makes it SO much faster to take off outlet and light switch covers! Highly recommend it.

I did a DIY of hiding cables inside the wall. The only thing made it hard is that the wall has insulations. Good thing the kit that I bought has a way to separate or cover the cables against the insulation materials. Watching this makes me proud of myself and made our living room dangling cable free.
Great video! I have two TV's I need this for but haven't done it because I didn't want to pay some one to do it. You're the man! 👊
A couple of things: First - thank you for the video! There doesn’t necessarily have to be a beam or another wall beneath a bearing wall - while a beam is a good indicator, you will not always find a beam beneath a bearing wall - it is better to work out what is above the wall to determine if it is a bearing wall. Also, instead of guessing about blocking in the wall, why not just use a cheap stud finder?
Was watching your how to mount a TV and this popped up! Same one
Great video! I’m always so intimidated by electrical. And I guess I should be. I’m a finish carpenter, not an electrician. I came up with a pretty brilliant plan for hiding the wires-just put a huge shabby chic looking dresser under the tv and no one sees the wires! Haha. Nice video. I will watch it again and actually get this done.
Love the videos. Gives me motivation to do a lot of little projects and or big projects around my house. Im gonna say you charged the customers right around 300.00
I've done this job the same way. My only suggestion is to keep some space between low and high voltage wires. I suggest running them in separate wall cavities.
As an EE I always tell people to be very careful with adding more load on existing wires...I understand that the added load/s are minor but those AWG have a specific rating for a reason. You did an amazing Job by the way, great content!

Love your channel. Really appreciate the guidance. I want to share that those stab outlets are dangerous! I had a problem in a 30 year old house I bought and was in the process of flipping. The only hint was another outlet on the same circuit had about 70 volts, as read on a meter. In this case, it was the result of a loose neutral. The connections were so loose, they were arcing to the point of melting the insulation. I will never leave one of those in place when I find them from now on.
Nice video. It is recommended to run low voltage on the other side of the stud from the 120v. This avoids, as much as possible, emf from being introduced into the low voltage line.

I did this a while ago when I got a new TV. It's not quite as easy if you have plaster walls, gotta make sure the kit you buy can hadnle the extra thickness of drywall + plaster. I used the combo kit for the recessed outlet and wire feed. Added in an outlet with a surge protector. Another note, your only supposed to only use cables that are rated to be inside the wall even though they are low voltage.
