Easiest way concatenate files on Windows: "copy /b orac* OracleEBS.ova" without quotes. Make sure there's no other filename in the same folder, starting with orac*, besides the files we need to concatenate.

After installing the Vision apps Training Virtual image, we are logging in and starting the visiondb and visionapps, after doing these basic startup steps sometimes we are unable to connect to the localhost.localdomain:8000 s One more issue is we are unable to connect from other devices on the local network, the network settings are set to 'Bridged Network'. We are able to ping from other systems on the network but when we try to open this in browser(localhost.localdomain:8000) it says connection timedout We have done basic diagnostics (disabled 'dont allow incoming connections'in the server pc firewall settings) On other note what should be minimum RAM to run this image ? We are trying to run this on 6 GB RAM PC(allocating 4 GB for the training image)

Hi Yemi, I tried to install again R12 on latest virtual box 4.3.20 with WIN7 as host OS. But before installing R12 I tried to access the my other VM (Oracle SOA-BPM) installed on same WIN7 as Host m/c, using Bridge Network and I was able to access the severs of VM (Oracle SOA-BPM) . Then I shut down this VM and set the network for R12 VM as bridge but when I checked the IP from R12VM then I found single entry of LOOPBACK Apater IP but not of eth0 setting for Bridge network. Please help me to setup the network.

The installation works on Win 8.1. The instruction on the video is for Win (the host) and Linux on the VirtualBox (the guest). The installation works on Linux and Mac as the host (without Cygwin). But the guest has to be linux.

Yes you can connect to the database, use the SID, port and the hostname you used during the installation - I used DEMO, localhost and port 1521. You can also connect to the server via ftp use root and the password

Hi Steve - Yes - you need to install the jre to access the Java forms.

Yemi Onigbode why did you decide to run the entire installation and not just execute the configdhcp script in /u01/install/scripts and executed shutdown -r now twice. This actually configures the entire setup for you and starts apps as soon as you start the server.

Yes Yemi. Can you assist with the protocol for shutting down vision instance in VM. My Installation was successfully now l just need to understand the process of shutting. I keep getting no such file and directory when l typed in the ./stopvisionspps.sh and ./stopvisiondb.sh. I am getting this message in both the oraclelocalhost and rootlocalhost. Can l shut down without stopping the apps and db or have to stop both vision apps and db? Many thanks in advance

Hi Yemi, I was following these instructions for installing R12.1.3 but after setting the passwords on the VM for root, etc.. I didn't get the option to start the VISION install instead it asked me to enter APPS or NONE, I entered apps and then it did nothing it sat at the root prompt, any ideas of how I can start the vision install?

Great Video! I have heard this installing VM appliances will wipe out my host OS. Is that true? Is there a way I can do installation on external hard drive. My laptop has only 250GB hard drive. I have created .vmdk (267GB) in external harddrive using 'Import Appliances'. But now I try to install Vision, it will try on laptop rather external HDD which is 1TB. Appreciate.

I had to use a fixed IP and domain for the instance. This can be done in the etc/hosts file in Linux.

working on about 300 hours now....when I select my ovf file in "import appliance" it spools VBoxSVC - which consumes over 60GB of memory (most of that is swap, because I only have 16GB on my machine) and then it crashes with an XML error: Failed to import appliance /Volumes/TimeMachine/EBS/EBS1224.ovf. In 'xml::XmlError::XmlError(xmlError*)', '/Users/vbox/tinderbox/4.3-mac-rel/src/VBox/Runtime/r3/xml.cpp' at #122. Result Code: VBOX_E_FILE_ERROR (0x80BB0004) Component: Appliance Interface: IAppliance {3059cf9e-25c7-4f0b-9fa5-3c42e441670b} SO TIRED of this process.

This happens when all the services have not started. Please wait a few mins before starting the application. If this doesn't work try starting the services manually as follows 1. Login to the server with the username 
oracle, password = 
 2. At the command prompt enter
 cd /u01/install/VISION/scripts
 3. Type the following to start the server

 ./startvisionapps.sh 
(remember to put the dot at the start)

 4. The server should start after a few minutes 5. You should be able to login

What´s the imported file size?

I've been trying import the appliance into VirtualBox for 2 days. Every time I get an error "Error reading OVA" VERR_TAR_UNEXPECTED_EOS. For good measure I've tried all of the following: 1. Tried re-downloading the files from Oracle server multiple times. 2. Tried to install both 12.2.3 and 12.2.4 multiple times 3. Attempted extracting the zip files using both the Windows unzip tool and 7Zip 4. Tried combining files in both DOS and CYGWIN 5. I've verified that my final ova file has the exact same file size as in the video I've come to the conclusion that the only difference between what I'm doing is that I have a newer version of Virtualbox 5.x than Yemi is using in the video. However, it appears that I cannot backport to a 4.x version of Virtualbox because it will no longer run on the latest Windows 10 patch.

Thanks for you reply. I had run across that same thread a few days ago. This is Solved (Sort of) - I moved by ova file to an external drive instead of the hard drive of my laptop and the import worked instantly. Not sure what's up with that. My internal HD has almost a TB free. Go figure.

Deleted the installation and redid the installation. Was able to login fine. Just to test if the Apache bridge error is still there I shutdown and restarted the VM. Tried logging in again and got the ""Failure of server APACHE bridge:" again. Do you think the weblogic server is not started? if so could you tell me where to start this from? Any other ideas?

harry n - normally happens if the weblogic server has not started completely. I normally wait a few minutes after starting the server before I login to the app

Forget about the files and the script. Its been almost 10 day and I am not yet able to get a clean download from Oracle edelivery. Can someone help me out? I have 64 bit Windows 7. Every time I download a zip file and test it with winzip or 7zip, they are fine. However when I copy all the files together and then begin the installation, I get the file is corrupted message.

I have tried enough number of times and am giving up on this approach. I can download the zip files. The archives test ok with winzip or 7zip. After copying and running through virtual box, I can see the initial install. Once I proceed to install, there is an error showing that the file is corrupted. Now I check the individual files with Info-ZIP's and notice that all of the downloads archives are invalid. Did this several times without success. Any help is welcome

Here I am getting error while starting adstrtal.sh. As I don't know weblogic password. I am not sure even I set any password for weblogic account ? what is default password ? I check weblogic or welcome are not passwords

Yemi Onigbode Thank you Yemi. I have few questions: 1. What does folder back up has. Also when I go to directory of downloaded folder and run copy /b all files, the process runs but it doesn't create a concatenated ova file. Please help.

Guys I dunno about Oracle-E-Business-Suite-12.2.3 but Oracle-E-Business-Suite-12.2.4 import into Oracle VM Box took about 1 hour 40 mins and I have an i7 four core with 16GB ram. +chieduagain When you extract and import always try to use 2 hard drives. 1. extract from hard drive 1 to hard drive 2. 2. Import from hard drive 2 to hard drive 1.

Could do without the lip smacking

After installing the Vision apps Training Virtual image, we are logging in and starting the visiondb and visionapps, after doing these basic startup steps sometimes we are unable to connect to the localhost.localdomain:8000 s One more issue is we are unable to connect from other devices on the local network, the network settings are set to 'Bridged Network'. We are able to ping from other systems on the network but when we try to open this in browser(localhost.localdomain:8000) it says connection timedout We have done basic diagnostics (disabled 'dont allow incoming connections'in the server pc firewall settings) On other note what should be minimum RAM to run this image ? We are trying to run this on 6 GB RAM PC(allocating 4 GB for the training image)
