Thanks Yemi. I had 8GB RAM and it was taking too much time to load. It took more than 1 hour just to start visionapps. I increased the memory to 16GB and dedicated 6GB to Linux Virtual Box and it's running very fast. Also, had an issue opening Forms from both IE and Firefox. Had to download Java couple of times and eventually it worked.

At the step where I was asked to "Enter VISION for configuring the VISION Demo Instance" (13:00), it did not configure the vision instance even though I had type in VISION, and gave me the command prompt [root/apps /]#. How can I configure the vision instance after the fact manually?

Yemi, a question on setting up the static IP address. If i set the static ip address in my host file and the next time i run virtual box, there is a likelyhood of the ip address being changed. I did not see in the video how the static address is setup. Or is this a part of the installation?

The scripts should run automatically when you start the Unix server. It usually takes about 3-5mins extra on my server. If it does not start then you can run them manually.

Hi Raja, Looks like you were able to successful installed. If so, when did u install Linux (I couldn't find that step in the video) or is it already included in 12.2.4 package?

Yemi does the db & apps tier start automatically when we start the device? More importantly when u shutdown the appliance does it shut down the db & apps tier too?

Hi Yemi, I missed entering VISION command(@13:03) to configure the vision db application, so normal virtual machine is being loaded. Is there a way to configure the visiondb application without having to import the entire appliance again.

Yes you can install the development tools you mentioned and work on R12.2.4

I have tried to install several java versions and changed compatibility settings, disabled XSS filter , lowered security, included the site in trusted sites however, nothing works. when click on any form link from menu, nothing happens . Hi Yemi, thanks for the nice video. I was installing 12.2.4 on VBox 5.0.8 and when I tried to start it, I got an error "VERR_MAIN_CONFIG_CONSTRUCTOR_COM_ERROR", when I did show log on the imported appliance I found the error was because of the network setting, once in changed the network setting to NAT it started working. Posted this if anyone getting this error and want a solution.

Hi yemi what's the future in Oracle Apps. Are oracle apps and oracle EBS the same thing? I just got my stream as Oracle Apps and I am gonna start working in Accenture. I haven't yet started my training in Accenture. Hi Yemi, I appreciate your effort in making this very useful video for each one of us who wants to install this version of Oracle application. I have followed your video on my laptop with Windows 10 OS all the way up to starting the oracleapps.sh... Once I start it, all the servers were starting up until the WLS(Web logic server) which has never started and I got a blank page on my screen. I waited an hour or so to check if it gets started lately, but of no use. Please advise what might be the issue and how I can fix it. Also, once the hostname is copied in the host file, how can I login to the application.. is it in the virtual box or in the host machine (windows 10) Awaiting your reply... Thanks, Siva

Hi Yemi, How do i get it started after restarting my PC , I am not able to start it out. On execution of ./startvisionapps.sh Error faced"adstrtal.sh: Database connection could not be established. Either the database is down or the APPS credential supplier are wrong." Please help to start it up.

Hi Yemi Onigbode. Would you mind helping me out? What I basically want is to change ebs ip address from 10.25.10.253 (which is default) to 10.25.10.252. Using ifconfig eth0 10.25.10.252 did not do the trick, I got the next message from the middleware "Failure of server APACHE bridge: No backend server available for connection: timed out after 10 seconds or idempotent set to OFF or method not idempotent." And I did change my hosts file :)

How much space does this installation will take exatly

VM is not able to start automatically after changing the passwords of root and applmgr etc.... Its show only VM configuration summary. I have 4GB RAM does it mean it will not work. Also in VM virtual size is shoing 300 GB and actual size 2.15 GB. Can somebody help.

Hi Nasir, Kindly install VirtualBox for windows (This will be your host) and the Virtual Templates will run on Linux (which will be your guest machine) Oracle Application Server runs on Linux Server. Virtual Templates on windows platform is not possible. Hope this helps!

Just download SQL Developer from windows and connect to the database directly. In my case hostname is ebs.example.com, port is 1521, SID: ebsdb

Hi Yemi, this is a very good video. While trying to setup EBS using the same .ova file, after setting credentials for root/oracle/applmgr, I do not see the "starting EBSDB" in the prompt. I tried to start visiondb.rc, but get the following error /u01/install/VISION/11.2.1/appsutil/scripts/EBSDB_localhost/addbctl.sh: No such file or directory .. can you please suggest on how to resolve this? The db and the services should start automatically. Try importing the file again.

Hi yemi even in wndows\system32\drivers\etc\host (IP address is not found) pls help

I've been trying import the appliance into VirtualBox for 2 days. Every time I get an error "Error reading OVA" VERR_TAR_UNEXPECTED_EOS. For good measure I've tried all of the following: 1. Tried re-downloading the files from Oracle server multiple times. 2. Tried to install both 12.2.3 and 12.2.4 multiple times 3. Attempted extracting the zip files using both the Windows unzip tool and 7Zip 4. Tried combining files in both DOS and CYGWIN 5. I've verified that my final ova file has the exact same file size as in the video I've come to the conclusion that the only difference between what I'm doing is that I have a newer version of Virtualbox 5.x than Yemi is using in the video. However, it appears that I cannot backport to a 4.x version of Virtualbox because it will no longer run on the latest Windows 10 patch. Any suggestions on what I can do to get past this? Thanks!

This is Solved (Sort of) - I moved my ova file to an external drive instead of the hard drive of my laptop and the import worked instantly. Not sure what's up with that. My internal HD has almost a TB free. Go figure.

Well , All installations went fine, was very easy but I am facing an issue here , I launched the eps.example.com:8000 , I got the login page went in selected system admin > want to launch applet > like security > users it has downloaded the Java 8 latest 131 , I added the ebs.example.com:8000 in Java security exception list , my problem is it has prompted me to usual applet warning and I have clicked twice but it doesn't open applet -- Please no error message , screen just says nothing. Please help Farooque

Yemi, If I want to install 12.1.3 shall i follow similarly.How do you know that only these files we have download from edelivery.do you have any readme file? using wget.sh helps to select only few files rather than download all files from browser. Also How u know that this is startup script. this is shutdown script. Can u show how to install 12.1.3. If I do not want vision instance and want fresh install without vision how can I do. Can you please help or suggest. Thanks in advance for your helpful video.

Hi Yemi, Thanks for this wonderful guide. The only issue I have is after laptop reboot, VM started the database automatically but did not start the application tier. Ran 'startvisionapps.sh' but it reports: 'adstrtal.sh: Database connection could not be established. Either the database is down or the APPS credentials supplied are wrong. USAGE: details... adstral.sh: exiting with status 1' I also noticed that the IP address changed (different at install). I tried stop and start scripts but no avail. Any ideas how to fix this? Change the adapter to the Host Only Adapter, and use a fixed IP address

I found and ran /u01/install/scripts/configstatic.sh and entered all the details(i.e. orginal ip address and other info) and it worked. by the way I didnt change the adaptor.

is it free because I want this just for practice pls answer

This happens when all the services have not started. Please wait a few mins before starting the application. If this doesn't work try starting the services manually as follows 1. Login to the server with the username oracle, password = 2. At the command prompt enter cd /u01/install/VISION/scripts 3. Type the following to start the server ./startvisionapps.sh (remember to put the dot at the start) 4. The server should start after a few minutes 5. You should be able to login

Hi Yemi, This is an awesome video. Thanks for this. I am able to install it in my laptop. But one problem I am facing. My laptop runs on Windows 7 and I am opening the application in firefox/ie. I have JRE 1.7.0_67 installed in my laptop. It still giving me the below error again and again- In order to access this application, you must install the J2SE Plugin version 1.7.0_67. To install this plugin, click here to download the oaj2se.exe executable. Once the download is complete, double-click the oaj2se.exe file to install the plugin. You will be prompted to restart your browser when the installation is complete. Anyway I cannot open form in my laptop. Is there any workaround for this. I searched a lot but could not get any solution. Your help is much appreciated. Kind Regards, Goutam

Hi Goutam , Have you checked if popup blocker window option is disabled or exception is added for this site? Have you tried to access java control panel Java window? In startup search box type JAVA , select configure java , on java control panel window, select Java Tab click view button , user tab , you might see multiple version of java shown there. Try to enable the relevant version.
