    Great vid thanks man. Few tips for those doing this: My rear bolts were seized. I used a 6 point socket not 12 point to avoid rounding bolt heads. For the front if you dont have an impact driver crack the nuts with the car on the ground before removing the shock the 2nd nut can be really tight. I used a 21mm spark plug socket and 7mm long handled brake caliper allen key to hold it. Refitting front shocks is the hardest part. VW do a hub splitter tool to help them slide back in. Rubbing the inside of the hub with sandpaper and lubing it with wd40 also helped get the shock back in.

    good tutorial man, with the fronts though i would mention that some models of car have ancillaries attached directly to the strut itself, e.g brake line brackets or anti-roll bar drop links. I usually get these out of the way first and you can even zip tie them back if you wana be super careful, just makes things go smoothly and to avoid any damage to them. :) but thumbs up for safety and all that with the compressed springs.

    Hi, great vids by the way, so i have a question.. i have a mk4 golf 2.0 5door hatchback (left hand drive) im looking to lower it on a set of 18inch audi rs4's on fk coilovers. from what i've been reading on forums some people have been having problems with the drive shaft grinding on the sway bar on just a 35mm drop? People are saying you have to upgrade the sway bar to allow for clearence? Didn't you have the same problem when dropping it 40mm? if so could you make a vid on how to upgrade the front sway bar or a removal/refitting vid? I've looked everywhere on youtube for a how to do it vid but there is none on a mk4 golf. Looking forward to hearing back from you. Cheers

    Also the spongyness is probably the shocks that are dead, replaced my springs and shocks at same time with 35mm lowered the difference in performance around the twisty was amazing, not good in the bumpys tho.

  • @NOXXism
    @NOXXism7 жыл бұрын

    I wish I would have seen this before I did this to mine lol a little warning though, do this on stock shocks and they will die quickly, and you will end up with a really bumpy/spongy like he said, get some good shocks (I have some Koni STR.T that I'm going to install that are specifically made for lowered springs)

    just a few things mate, i think your videos are spot on.. 1. Generally you change the top mounts when doing springs or shocks because can cause a slight juddering noise/motion when turning the wheel 2. Tightening the wheels bolts up should be done in the pattern of opposites so its equally torqued 3. Wear your seatbelt its not worth the risk keep the videos coming though man!

    BMAC Car Mods Also i recommend jacking a car by the frame rails, not the body. you can do severe damage to it by placing all that weight on a weak spot. Same with the stands, always lift and hold with the frame rails.

I took the relay out and i tested it and i dont hear a click and there are bad burn marks on the metal prongs,but the car still starts! I have a short to ground b+ issue and people told me to change that relay it could be halfway bad even though the car still starts because it also controls ecm elements! I like the new channel also! • @ultrafloss492

    @ultrafloss492

    10 жыл бұрын

    Hey I'm not sure if you already done this but you can buy ' super white' h7 bulbs which are about 6000kelvin (depending on brand but generally) and will cost you about 10/15 euro's (canbus is most of the time pretty expensive and the xenon look will work because it's still a standard lamp) . If you do want to use leds or for the city lights, make sure you are using the canbus friendly ones or else you will get your dash saying that something is off with one of the lights. In my experience around 5000/6500kelvin is the ledwhite most of us are looking for, anything higher will probably have a light blue glow in it.

    Wouldn't adjustable coilovers give you a way tighter, more responsive feeling ride in the steering, brakes, shifting and even when accelerating? Plus you can adjust the ride height, letting it in the summer and raising it in the winter? Lowering springs are just that, springs to lower your car and the give a crappy ride. They bounce like crazy, and you still need to buy a good set of shocks, a stock shock doesn't have good dampening for the car being lowered an inch or 3". Stock suspension components are designed so each one works perfectly with the other suspension parts and then after a few months your while suspension with start going. I've read about people who've said it messed up their transmissions because of the poor handling and the cv-axles, ball joints, bushings allegedly got ruined from lowering the car with factory parts designed to bear a specific load at specific points. Thanks

  • @AzeOfSpadez

    "Thanks." Lmao what? A car should never be lowered more than 2" else it'll break apart. Get coil overs, they only cost 3-4 times more than lowering springs. And lowering springs are just that, springs that make the car lower; they're not going to mess up transmission lmao. That idiot knows nothing about cars if he said that, and that transmission was dying anyway. Or he did something to it. "Thanks."

    just like to point out that you didnt show the actual install of the front strut assembly back into the car, which i found quite awkard, i used a plank and wedged it in and pushed down on the control arm, and used a lump hammer to bang it in, i also screwed the top nut to hold the strut in place first.
