How to install GY6 Big Bore Kit 171cc on 157QMJ Part #4

Thank you for watching and supporting my channel feel free to use my referral links. If you need help with any of these products call or text me Mike (209) 355-8088. I usually respond within 24 hrs.
NOTE: This is a dry installation demo ONLY. However, recommend proper cleaners and lubes (see Chemical List) when assembling for actual engine use.
CORRECTION: Piston "EX" smaller valve indent should be facing down toward the exhaust. This means the entire piston engrave 61mm and the Taida Star symbol would be upside-down NOT like the video show. We did this for the reading aesthetic of what piston size/brand installed. However, the newer model Taida Cylinder Piston Forged 61mm now comes aesthetically upright.

    Exhaust is marked exhaust because the valves are different sizes and need to be mated correctly so the piston doesn't impact the valves.

    Exhaust relief Belongs on the bottom intake relief on top. Piston is upside down bud. You could have just turned the motor with the stator bell. Watching you try to use the timing chain was like scratching a chalkboard.

    I caught it real quick there for just a second. It looks like he has his piston rotated a 180° out It looks like the exhaust marking is on the top. It's Supposed to be Facing down.

    Hey great tutorial video I'm installing a 180cc big bore kit on my gy6 150cc 157QMJ it fits that size motor but I'm having quite of a problem trying to slide the 2nd cylinder with the piston to come flush it is quite difficult I have the chain guide everything in place should I tap it or force it to fit it doesn't want to slide together or should I use some assembly line?

    gary smith thank you you're absolutely correct on the oil lube if this wasn't a dry installation demo for sure never used engine without it being properly engine assemble lube during assembly. And, as far the facing of the piston regardless of the aesthetic engraved logo correctly facing it's not true it's sometimes hard to determine without measuring indent with a caliper to see which one has the wider indent width on piston face that should be on facing top for intake, and smaller width indent facing bottom for exhaust, correct. Don't know why the manufactures are not consistent with their piston face engrave "EX" or arrow down stamps, it could be totally opposite by caliper measurement. :/

    No lube. Piston Upside down. Try using stator flywheel turning it as you try turning chain to get tdc. Less awkward than kicking it over.

    Samuel Marchán Fernández that would be a correct assuming that more cc is bigger engine which produce more combustion which produce more heat through the exhaust.

    Do you not put assembly lube or motor oil on the piston, rings ect when installing it?

  • @NCYSTORE

    @NCYSTORE

    7 жыл бұрын

    Yes, you're correct. This video was a dry fit installation of the cylinder ONLY, it's not intended for engine use ready. It's recommended before actual engine use assembly apply either engine assembly lube or use engine motor oil for your scooter directly onto the piston ring assembly, best. We recommend using engine assembly lube anti seize engine assembly lube with molly graphite vs motor oil for it will decapitate mostly once the motor oil gets to it overtime. However, leaves behind a substance anti seize to help prevent aluminum and metal bond. Either engine assembly lube or motor oil used to lube piston ring assembly will help premature friction wear of piston and cylinder housing unit.

    This series so far is a list of what you don't want to do when putting an engine together. Everything from no lube to gouging bearing surfaces with metal tools. This guy might be great at selling ice to an Eskimo but if I walked in a shop and seen a mechanic like this I wouldn't even let them put air in my tires.

    Ive seen a lot of youtube "mechanics" in the last week or so of researching how to upgrade these scooters and this dude certainly isnt the worst ive seen however I have absolutely no experience in this field so take that with a grain. The no oil used sure sent out a red flag from reading up on this procedure but he does state that this is just a demonstration of how the parts go together and this engine wont be used like this. I didnt see the bearing part you mention and probably wouldnt have even registered it as anything out of the ordinary but now Ill make sure to avoid doing that myslef. I will be having a certified mechanic installing everything for me and doing the initial tune.

    ?Hi Mr..I have sym crox gy6 orginal engine 150cc model 2016 can I maket it 171cc Big Bore Kit

  • @NCYSTORE

    @NCYSTORE

    7 жыл бұрын

    Hi, 171cc Big Bore Kit does not require boring for most standard GY6 150cc crankcase which has 63mm opening. Just make sure to measure your crankcase cylinder opening where the cylinder sleeve will fit into diameter typically for not having to bore is 62.7mm should be fine. Next determine your stud spacing holding your cylinder typically is 54 mm. And, stud spacing 57mm are normally the bigger bore cases handling 180cc and above. Given that said if you check your gy6 engine on that specific engine model if it fits under those guidelines I'm sure you'll be able to do select the right 171cc upgrade big bore kit.

    NCY STORE Wow! I'd love to have an 1800 cc GY6 engine on my scooter. LMAO! Just kidding. How much horsepower would a 170cc big bore give my scooter? Would I need an oil cooler for it?

  • @NCYSTORE

    sakuraknight9274 it's hard to convert horsepower small engine is measure in cc else factors in being if you upgrade the carburetor, your actual weight your body at the wheel would be different not necessarily you need an oil cooler or high-flow oil pump unless you going with 180cc but it doesn't hurt, keep your engine cooler longer.

And, as far as lubing an oil parts used this is a dry demo installations to better see the parts connect it's all mention on everyone of video description and the proper tools, parts, and chemicals used all list in the video description. Feel free to share your video how to do a proper installation :) Love to see it, please! 🤗
