I just came across your channel. As an old-school BMW enthusiast, I am always intrigued by what people are doing with these newer models. It saves me the hassle of trying one myself. Really appreciate this video Justin! Had to replace my steering wheel controls and had no idea they could be removed without having to take the steering wheel off! Made the job much easier!

@@justinbuice similar to the rear fog light video you uploaded, can the black "blank" steering wheel buttons be altered to be functional? I think the maker doesn't offer black buttons anymore, and they aren't offered anywhere (ebay, etc.). Thanks for your help, man.

Hi. I have a 650i with a retrofitted original M6 steering wheel already with the original black M1 and M2 buttons. Can I use this kit and just switch the internal board? Or it has to be the M-sport wheel with the blank buttons??

Still pretty cool. Honestly wish it did more than just up and down on the menu. Like m1 was set to comfort and m2 set to sport+. I'm 50/50 on getting this.... the blank buttons on my M wheel do look annoying.

From what I understand, it comes down to the design of the button circuit board rather than software. Although a board could probably be designed to skip tracks or control other parts of the car

Can you post a video on how to program a spare key for a BMW with the comfort package? Would ista be the best option?

I agree. Blank buttons on the steering wheel are lame especially considering how much these cars were new

Just fitting mine and had to remove it as I got a cruise control error message.....

Why did you disconnect positive terminal? Aren’t you always supposed to remove negative on a battery first?

@@JB-li1gh I believe they do. However, it's a separate remote. It's not integrated with your OEM key.

@@typejlb screw that. I wouldn't want to carry around an extra fob just to have remote start. Yeah, id prefer if it was functional on OEM key like the new G-series.

I don't have a m sports steering wheel like you. I have the two blank spots and m sports package on my 2015 330i f30. Does that mean this won't work for me

You need the M Sport wheel, otherwise the new circuit board wont fit

I order it but now every time i enter my car he doesnt recognise my key. So i need to put the key to the steering column and hold start/stop untill it regonize it. But when i leave the car and close it and open it again i need to do it again….. F30 2019

You should really clean the insides of everything you took out near gear shifter😁 Kit is extremely expensive 🤷🏻‍♂️

thats like the only thing your interior is missing. those base model gauges got to go. otherwise ur interior is 100% perfect and inspired me to restore my f30

@@bitcoochie4093 i agree, I like the analogue gauges myself. It’s like the difference between a mechanical watch and an Apple watch. Although I do wish I had the upgraded gauge cluster with the larger screen at the bottom

I think there is a fine line between a nicely modded non M car and M Car wannabe. These buttons tip it over that line unfortunately.. in black maybe...

Those buttons look awful.

Tbh, I think the next mod should be the digital cluster. I know it's an expensive one, but it surely would look a lot better!
