How to install front 034 Dynamic+ sport springs - MK7 VW 2019 GLI GTI MQB

Installing front 034 Dynamic+ sport springs suspension on my 2019 GLI. This process is the same for the MK7 GTI. Rear suspension and rear swaybar installation are in another video.

    Thanks, great informative vid. After owning Hondas and Subarus for a while, I am completely baffled by why the hell VW uses this sort of strut/spindle connection. On all my other cars, you just had to remove two bolts to remove strut from spindle and you could actually replace those bolts with offset camber bolts to get cheap and easy front camber adjustment. On VW, a simple spring install becomes a huge pain and you have to spend lots of money and sacrifice NVH with top hats to get front camber.

    I think they started using this style spindle/strut connections with the mk5. Its a solid connection for stable, non adjustable geometry but its convoluted and a pain in the butt. I think they could've made the shock body shorter to alleviate the difficulty of replacing them.

    Good video thanks for putting it up. I didn't have any luck with 2x4 method either. I ended up removing the axle from the hub to get the shock out.

    I wasted more time trying to figure out how to get the 2x4 method to work than just unbolting the axles.

    Hey there... I know this video is quite old--so not expecting an answer in time... or ever, lol..., but great video--in fact you're pretty much the only one I could find that actually shows the struggles of putting it all back together. My mk7 gti, is still on stands as i struggled to get it back together before sun-down yesterday. There is however only one section you didn't show--so let me ask, did you take your spindle off the the 3 balljoints below? In other words, while your vid was showing how you re-seated the strut into the spindle, was your 3-lower ball joints off from the spindle or back in place first? If that makes sense?

    Great video, thanks for sharing. I have a 1.4 Jetta that I installed H&R sport springs on using the 2x4 method and I’m planning on installing some H&R coil overs in the future. Did you have any issues from unbolting the axels the way you did? That looks much easier than forcing things with a 2x4.

    Honestly, as long as you have the right tools, unbolting the axel really isn't difficult or time consuming. I think it's tempting to try methods that require removing less parts but in the end it didn't work well for me.

    Hi, awesome video. Thanks so much for making it. What did you mean by "the front distance sensor also requires an alignment"? Were you just saying there was more than 1 reason to get an alignment?

  • @JonathanCameron80085

    @JonathanCameron80085

    The front sensor could need to be aligned (not suspension alignment) if it doesn't appear to be working correctly after lowering the car. Lower car = front crash sensor may need to be adjusted up. You probably won't notice anything but it could decrease the crash detection distance.

    Basically everything on the MQB platform is interchangeable. The jetta rear is slightly heavier so the rear sits a bit lower. Still a good look all around.

    I didn't use most of the video from the other side since I started by attempting the 2×4 method which doesn't actually work that well. I did end up just disconnecting the 6 axel bolts.
